This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of January, 1934, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [484], Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, Mrs. [484]; this we have had before.
2. As we find, while in some respects the body and its disturbing conditions may be said to be in a bettered condition than that when we have had it at other times, yet from the outward appearances there are inroads being made by the disturbing forces in causing not only pain but inactivity and inability of the body to carry on in a normal manner. Then, such a statement may justly be asked to be explained.
3. As indicated, there have been those tendencies for the accumulations through the lack of elements in the system of the proper balance for the tendons and the bone portions of the body in extremities, acting first to become so taut as to produce disfigurement by these contractions and by the accumulations of the factors that make for hardening of these tendons and muscles in a form of arthritis to the body, or - as the name indicates - there is an inflammation to the soft end of structural portions that produces a stiffness in the muscular forces of same, causing inactivity and a disfigurement at times to the body.
4. In this body these conditions following those suggestions made were aided in being so dissolved through the application of those things given as to allow the LOOSENING of same IN the system, yet there was not the adherence to the diet nor to the activities that were outlined of sufficient length or of sufficient consistency in the application to ELIMINATE these FROM the system WHEN they were dissolved. And with time, or with the periods that are the natural consequence or consciousness of all the forces in the atomic force of the body itself, there has been brought about the relapse into the centralizing or localizing of these conditions, even in portions of the body not heretofore affected - as in the natural period where the teeth, the mouth, the head, the stomach, the organs of the body, the female organs and the digestive system have become more or less involved, owing to, or according to the amount of those properties in the system that have produced for the blood supply sufficient element to function THROUGH the system.
5. What's to be done, then, in the present? We would begin not only with the baths again, as hot as may be well taken, see, of almost a concentrated solution of Epsom Salts, but we would take internally the iodine forces in the atomic form, or Atomidine, beginning with two drops - increasing each day (taking twice each day) one drop until there is - during the day - sixteen drops being taken, see? Then leave off for a day and take the baths or the applications that will not only cause these to be retro-active (that is, that the Atomidine itself may be seen to have permeated all portions of the body, by the natural oxidization of same by being sweated through the body, see) from these baths.
6. We would adhere very strictly TO THE DIET that has been outlined for the body! And we would massage, at least twice each day, the soles of the feet with THIS compound or combination - this outside of the others, see?
7. Mix this in a compound. To Rub Alcohol 4 ounces, add (in the order named):

   Witchhazel..............1/2 ounce,
Russian White Oil.........1 ounce,
Tincture of Benzoin.....1/2 ounce,
Oil of Sassafras.........10 minims.

   Shake this together before a small quantity is poured out in an open saucer to be massaged into the soles of the feet, and in the ankles and the limbs, see? and especial care to the burses in the back portion of the heel and in the instep and in the lower portion of the tendons that lead to the knees. See? Massage just all the body each time WILL absorb. Don't leave refuse parts on it.
8. We will find, if these are adhered to, better conditions will come for this body, [484].
9. (Q) Explain the soreness in the ear and the reason for deafness when lying on that side.
   (A) It's been explained! Do these things that we have given and DO NOT stop because the body feels better, or do not resort to other sources if they would be eliminated - because there will come one or two periods when MUCH distress will be from at least the second or third bath, when large proportions of the properties are eliminated through the skin - when there is being taken five to eight drops of the Atomidine during the first period twice each day, see? For, it will tend to feel weakening at first, but if there is a rub after such a bath - and remain in long enough for the body to SOAK well, so it goes through the system, see?
10. We are through for the present.
