This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of February, 1934, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [513], new Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Miss Esther Wynne.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, that are latent and manifested in the personalities of the entity now known as [513].
2. In entering the present experience we find from the astrological aspects many are the influences in the experience or experiences of the entity from the mental sojourns of the entity. These are rather innate, and while some are manifested in the abilities in the mental field of activity many are rather as the dreams or visions of the entity and have been too often subjugated or put aside as being experiences of the imagination. For, the abilities of the entity to develop the psychic forces, psychic abilities, are exhibited and may be made manifest even in the present experience.
3. From the sojourns in planetary influences we find these rather than the position of stars, planets, the moon, the sun, or any of the zodiacal signs. Yet these in their influence as urges are manifested in the MENTAL forces and, as given, were the inhibitions loosened by activity might become more effective in the present experience.
4. As to the sojourns from the planetary influence, we find:

Jupiter makes for the abilities to meet all characters of situations with fortitude, if the activities of such are not rushed upon the body of a sudden but given the opportunity to ponder, to meditate, to pray, most any experience physical, mental or of the spiritual influences may be met with fortitude. This also will make for the activities in the varied fields of associations in the line of thought.
6. Also Venus in CONJUNCTION with Jupiter makes for periods when the rapture of love in its higher sense means more than sentiment, more than mere relationships in the mental or physical sense. But rather as a glorifying in the activities, in the speech of the entity, towards SPIRITUAL activity in all the things, the conditions, that the body may experience through such periods. These thus far, as may be termed, have been three definite periods. And again in the present year, when Jupiter and Venus with Mercury and Uranus are in the benevolent aspects one to another, be periods when these influences will be experienced; as by urges on the part of the entity as related to others, to self, and to the associations in a more GENERAL way, yet in this experience be more to the mental and spiritual sides of the entity's activities.
7. Also from Jupiter and Venus do we find the abilities of the entity in the COMMERCIAL or active field of activity as being well manifested in the abilities as an executive; not often found in one of the sex, with the ability to control or to counsel or to aid in the relationships where such great numbers of individuals may be influenced by the activity. Yet these are manifest in the experience through sojourns in these relations. Hence are the necessities in the entity's experience for entering into these activities in the commercial or material world; in such lines as in large corporations, large associations that deal with the activity of many individuals, may the entity find that which will not only be well in the experience for material activity but for the developing of abilities in the mental and material ways.
8. As to the appearances in the earth and those that influence the greater in the present, that coincide with much that is in the mental urges of the entity but more in the activity or active fields of relationships with individuals, things or conditions, we find:
9. Before this in the land of the present nativity, during those periods when there were the first settlings in the land of the English speaking peoples, when many of the groups had gathered and there were the ministerial activities.
10. The entity was a daughter of one McGellen, and very active in the aiding of the peoples to not only form group activity but to combine the efforts and the relationships of individuals as to the common fund. Not as communistic, as would be termed in the present day, but rather as for self-preservation - and the character of communism that would be well in any or every land; that he that labors much should be so rewarded, he that is capable in the little that may be his lot may be made as the heir to or ruler over those things that are of greater value, each to his own ability but for the common good of all; as was in those days when MANY were called into active service in the first of the congregations in church activities when the common FUND was meant for all but the material distributions were made according to the activities of the individual, "He that works not eats not."
11. In that association the entity gained throughout the experience; for being capable in the activities as to organization, as to making for better relationships between the individuals or peoples of the period and of those that foregathered in various portions of the land, the entity became one among the aids (in the household) to the first rulers or governors in the land before there were the separations from the other lands and kingdoms.
12. From that experience in the present is seen the love of history or stories, or incidents pertaining to peoples of that particular period. And oft in the experience of the entity as they were read, the descriptions fitted mighty well to that innate in the experience of the entity, yet so oft pushed off as rather imagination.
13. Also from the experience comes the abilities to direct large groups, especially as related to certain characters of activities when they were for the common good of a specified cause.
14. Before that we find the entity was in that land when there were the gatherings of those peoples that would make for the disturbances to the teacher that had come into the new land. The entity then was of the Sidonian peoples when the teachings from the Master came to those peoples when he journeyed into Thyatira and the upmost coast of the land. The entity followed with those teachings and returned to the land of the upper portion of Galilee during that sojourn, in or with those peoples where the Master and some of His disciples made their home - in what was then Shilo, near the upper end of the lake or the sea of Galilee.
15. The entity then, in the name Marian (be well if it had been named that this time), gained through the greater portion of the sojourn, only losing when there were the threatenings to the body and especially to those of its own household - then the weakenings; yet being strengthened later by those that came up from the city, the entity furnished aid to many that were persecuted by those in material authority.
16. From that experience into the present has come much in the entity's inner self, from even hearing the songs of Galilee or the rugged cross. They DO, as it were, something to the inner self of the entity when these are sounded; as also does the combination of certain vowels that were used by His followers to warn others as to the approach of danger.
17. In the present also those tenets that pertain to the teaching of that day make for the greater hold upon the entity in its activity. Hence those things that partake of the speech in one manner and the activities in another make for a riling within that brings the greater sorrow to the entity in this sojourn.
18. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Egyptian, during those periods when there were the gatherings of the peoples when they were giving out that which had been combined through the efforts of the Priest and associations, the Atlantean and associations, fostered by those in authority in that experience.
19. The entity then was among those that went as organizers of groups in various places of activity, PROCLAIMING the relationships in the mental and spiritual and physical sense as between individuals and individuals and of the Creative Forces or the God of One, as shown through the worship in the temples of the experience - though they have often been misinterpreted as to sun worshipers, but the Son spelled the wrong way.
20. In the name Me-Nina, the entity lost and gained through those activities. And in the present those things that pertain to certain home economics, certain activities in the field of relationships as to the moral effect of the home, are peculiar in the present experience, bringing at times - through sojourns that have been indicated - periods of disagreement with many, yet others when there has been the opportunity for the turning to the inner self the abilities to classify in their proper relationships and their associations.
21. As to the abilities in the present and that to which the entity may attain, and how:
22. As may be gathered by those things that have been given, that may be used as stepping-stones for the application of the best in self in the present, first the self should be organized as related to the Teacher in Galilee. Then organize in the hearts and the minds and the experiences of those whom the entity may contact, how this may be made practical in the daily relationships one with another. For, as ye walk with Him in thy daily life, as ye counsel with the inner self and with Him in thy secret chambers, may there be shown forth in the light of thine experience and in the experience of the present the PROPER relationships one with another, and all with the Creative Forces that manifest themselves in the activities of men day by day.

24. (Q) What am I best fitted to do?
    (A) Dependent upon whether this is approached from the material angle or from the spiritual and mental development of self. As indicated from the material or commercial angle, in those abilities as of counseling, of directing, or laboring with those in larger organizations. In the self-development and in the relationships with those whom the entity contacts, organizing into practical applications of the truths and tenets of Jesus in Galilee.
25. (Q) When will I begin my life work?
    (A) In the present year.
26. (Q) What must she do that she may develop her psychic abilities?
    (A) Psychic is of the soul; the abilities to reason BY the faculties or by the mind of the soul. And when this is done, enter into the inner self, opening self through the ideals of the meditation that have been presented through these channels, and surrounding self with the consciousness of the Christ that He may guide in that as will be shown thee; either in writing (inspirationally, not hand guided) or in the intuitive forces that come from the deeper meditation, may there come much that would guide self first. Do not seek first the material things, but rather spiritual guidance, developing self to the attunement to the psychic forces of the spheres as through the experiences in the varied activities in the varied planes of experience, but ever in the light of that promise that has been given to be known among men, "If ye love me, keep my commandments, that I may come and abide with thee and bring to thy remembrance those things that thou hast need of that have been BETWEEN me and thee since the foundations of the world!"
27. (Q) Should I continue in my present work?
    (A) For the present.
28. (Q) Please give me some advice that will help me to direct the training of my daughters, that they may become useful women. First, Elizabeth [...]. Second, Margaret [...].
    (A) In the training, not only by precept but by example also; for know that those that have come into thine experience as depending upon thee for those periods of training in their early years in this sojourn are seeking that thou art able to give through thine own development. Their own needs may be supplied in the mental forces of self by directing them to that which is thine experience. For, ONLY the mental and the material gain the sure knowledge in experience, but the experience may be of the mental life as well as of the material life. So, in the study of them, as in the study of self, analyze their reactions to that they know of the constructive forces in life, and as to their needs counsel with them in those directions where their divisions or their analyses are not according as thine experience has directed and will direct thee. In this way may there be given that which will enable each in its own needs, in its own ways, to meet those things that are necessary for the greater soul and mental developments at this experience.
29. (Q) Should we trade or sell our home and move into the country, or would it be better for us to remain where we are for the present?
    (A) As indicated, it would be best for the body in the present to remain; not only from the material angle but for the advantageous conditions for most of those concerned. In the coming year, or in the present year and the latter portion - when there are those periods for preparations for the general changes that may be made in the experience of the life, very good for the change - and to come nearer, for SELF'S own development - into the realms to which self may attain.
30. (Q) Have I done Mrs. Eva Lindsay any injustice in regard to her former job? If so, show me how I may remedy it.
    (A) Who may appoint these sources as judges? Look within thine self. We do not find other than that which has been and is in keeping with thine ideal, but judge self that ye be not judged by others.
31. (Q) What is the cause of the fear?
    (A) Too oft has that which has arisen and has been shown thee, that has been called and others have termed imagination, been subjugated. OPEN thine inner self, thine inner abilities, to the glories of how the Father through the Son may work in and through thee; for perfect love in Him casteth out fear. For, when each soul may see that whereunto it has been called, through the perfecting of itself in body, in mind, in His name, it may be His channel for blessings to others. In this manner cast out fear.
32. (Q) How may I serve my boss better, in order for a better understanding?
    (A) Serve in the manner as He has given thee, the Master has given; not with an eye to service other than in the manners that are in keeping with the principles of the organization as to ITS service to the public, as it professes in itself to be.
33. (Q) What study or training might I pursue that I may be better used or more useful in the Study Group work and to those I contact?
    (A) Read first the latter portions of Genesis and the latter portions of Deuteronomy, and compare how those that were called for certain activities were asked to purify themselves. In the light of these purifications, read those given in 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th as according to John, and THEN the latter two letters by the same John to the children and to the beloved lady. Thus may there be seen how and to whom the trust is to be put. Knowing that as the divisions, or as mere messages, these three may stand as the better of all that has been given in that called His Word.
    In cleansing self, "Let the words of my mouth, the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, my Lord and my Redeemer." The next, "The Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another." "In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am there ye may be also," and the greater of all, "Lo, I am with thee always, even unto the end of the world." Could the Master promise to be with the disciples alone that He spoke with always to the end of the world in the material sense, save they enter INTO the material world? Could He promise to be in the world and in thee save as ye enter into the material world? For, when thou art absent from the body it is to be present with the Lord, and when absent from the body - if thine life has been spent in His service, it is to be with Him. To be present in the body is to be absent from Him, and His promise is to be with thee always.
34. (Q) Have I ever been associated with my husband [1236] before? If so, where and under what conditions? [8/01/36 Her husband, Mr. [1236], obtained a Physical Rdg.]
    (A) The husband was the boss when near Jamestown, and until it left home. In Egypt the husband was then under the rule of self, as one that was a servant, a manservant, a eunuch in the house.
