6/02/42 Letter: "You can see from my new address that we
moved to ..., N.Y. We are very fond of our new apartment and
this is an invitation to you and to your family, including
Miss GD, to put us on your calling list when you come
north...
"The War has affected almost every normal situation and I
have wondered about HL and his brother in respect to military
service... I haven't done anything else but register with
the other citizens. If or when I am called, I will respond
in line with the rest and time and fate will tell what is in
store for each and all of us.
"I hope things in life will speedily be restored to normalcy,
although there is a great deal of room for speculative
thinking how and when, especially since we seem to be
accelerating our War program. If only such strenuous effort
would be applied to peaceful pursuits to stamp out disease,
illness, poverty, ignorance and the inculcation of the finer
spirit of the brotherhood of man in its stead."
