2/18/31 EC's letter to Miss [
543]'s mother:
"I have yours of the 10th, and I think you have a little
misinterpreted Miss [
543]'s diet. As I understand, the
citrous fruits when taken should not be mixed with other
things; that is, do not eat the fruit and cereal at the same
meal - but as for changing it to cereals, to stewed fruit, or
cooked apples even, why that is perfectly alright. The raw
apples and bananas, and cocoanut, are the things taboo. In
all the readings I have ever seen, the diet hasn't been
anything other than a plain common sense outline. The idea
is, as I have understood it from the readings, citrous fruits
WITH gruels or anything of the kind tend to make for acid.
That's why it is not to be taken at the same time, but - to
be sure - just to eat the fruit and nothing else might make
it rather hard on her. This should be changed from day to
day.
"Regarding the operation, it seems there is the necessity
for this unless the condition can be reduced by other
measures. At one time the condition was very much improved;
then, on account of something coming up, it changed. If we
are to believe the information, there has to be a condition
counteracted, or the last state WITH the operation might be
worse than the first. I feel that if this Bitters - the
last preparation - is followed very closely, you will get
with Miss [
543] the same results we have gotten with several
others recently. It has proven the very best thing we have
ever had for anything of the kind.
"There is to be a meeting of the official board of the
hospital the latter part of the month. Possibly sometime in
the near future we will be able to take care of Miss [
543]
again. I certainly hope so. I assure you of my desire to
cooperate, and to be of help if possible. I hope that you
all will let us hear from you. Know that we all came to
love Miss [
543] as if she were one of our own family. We all
feel we would like to do something.
"With kindest personal regards to you all, I am..."
Sincerely, EC

"My Dear Mr. Cayce: Your letter to my wife was highly
appreciated and we thank you for outlining Miss [
543]'s diet.
"[
543] has been feeling quite well for past few days, a
slight cold otherwise she is I think better than usual.
"She is needing more 'May Blossom Bitters', please have
three bottles sent at once, you sent three before but one
was broken, so she has almost used up what you sent."
