(Q) Please outline a general diet for the body.
(A) As indicated oft for the body, there should be the more
alkalin foods and those that tend to make for less exciting
of the activities through the repressions, or through the
activities in excitements to the body. Hence:
Mornings - a citrus fruit juice diet, with browned whole
wheat bread, and at times this may be changed to either
stewed fruits or fresh fruits, but do not mix these together,
see?
Noons - principally green vegetables, and those RAW. See?
Such as lettuce, carrots, celery, peppers, tomatoes and such;
with preferably an oil dressing.
Evenings - the regular vegetables, but those above the
ground; though those of the tuberous or bulbous nature, as
beans, lima beans and the like, may be taken. Not too great
a quantity of any of those that grow UNDER the ground; though
radishes carrots and the like that do grow under the ground
may be taken GREEN, as they are entirely different when eaten
raw; but such as Irish potatoes or sweet potatoes, as we
find, would not be well. As to meats, fowl or lamb would be
preferable to any other character of meats.
We would find also it would be well that the body have its
regular rest periods, but should rise early of mornings - or
as soon as well awake. Take the exercise THEN in the open,
by walking - but always be well guarded against any reaction
from the spasmodic contractions that occur at times.
After the noon meal, or in the middle of the afternoon, well
to rest for an hour, see? This would be well for the body.
The activities should be as near normal as possible in the
reading, in the studies, in the activities about DOING
certain things; or have a program for self - certain periods
for activity, certain periods for rest or for activities
about the room, about the house. Have a regular period for
activities on the grounds or in games or in activities
outside; for the visiting or for receiving visitors. Have
activities with the hands and with the body as in the regular
routine. These would be well.
(Q) Is sorghum molasses good for me?
(A) Not good for the body. If sweets are taken, take honey
and the honeycomb.
(Q) What is cause and remedy for throat muscles not
functioning properly after slight spells?
(A) These come directly from the use of the properties as we
have given are necessary at times for the body, but if there
will be the activities and properties as outlined followed,
we find these will disappear.
(Q) Should I take small quantities of olive oil for
eliminations?
(A) Olive oil is an intestinal food. Taken in small
quantities it is very good. Not until the body may belch
same, but small quantities taken often for regular periods
would be better.
(Q) What quantities at a time?
(A) Quarter of a teaspoonful, or half a teaspoonful taken
two to three times a day, is not too much.
Much might be given about this body, but if we will follow
these directions - as we find - these would be the better.
We are through with this reading.

REPORTS
5/15/34 Mother's letter: "[
543] sent me your letter and rdg.
(I am here in Richmond for a short visit.) I wrote her I was
willing for her to go on the Mayblossom Bitters provided she
is not taken off Luminal. She will be obliged to take
something to hold down, or help hold down her attacks. It
would be like taking a constant drinker off his whiskey - he
would have delirium tremens, and after have to go to an
institution. I cannot give my consent to leaving it off.
We could not stand it - it is asking too much of her family.
If you recall the time at Va. Beach when [
543] went off of
Luminal entirely, she had such a spell that your sister
phoned to you to know what to do, and you advised getting a
doctor. Doctors know nothing of this most horrible
affliction that can come to man.
"[
543] is terribly run down and needs a tonic. She is
entirely too thin. But if you do not suggest one she will
not take it. You have more influence over her than her
mother.
"We are desperate, and wrecks.
"I thank you for your undying interest in [
543] and the love
you have given her, and stimulated her faith in God. I wish
HE would see fit to have her made well, or else take her to
Him."
5/17/34 EC's letter:
Many thanks for writing me as you did in yours of May 15th,
which I have just received. I see no reason why the
Mayblossom Bitters may not be worked with the Luminal. I
believe the readings have always suggested that the Luminal
be not discontinued entirely, especially not all at once -
but gradually, as [
543] is able to do without it with not bad
results.
As a preservative is required for compounding the Mayblossom
Bitters, I've been waiting until the 20th when the State
stores will be opened so that I can get the necessary alcohol
for preparing it.
I certainly hope that we may be able to be of a service for
[
543]. She is a dear, sweet girl; and if I have been of any
help whatsoever towards her maintaining her faith in God, I
give Him all the praise. We all think a great deal of
[
543].
Just for the love and confidence [
543] has in us, we would
love to check on her condition about once a month - after she
gets started with the treatments - to see that everything
goes right. I believe her condition CAN be changed.
This will be hard for you to believe, but just a few days ago
we received a letter from a naturopathic doctor in Chicago -
out of a clear sky - telling us how a nephew of his had been
cured of epilepsy by following a reading given for him
several years ago [See 814-1]. The doctors had pronounced
him incurable, and the uncle himself had dismissed him - did
not feel anything could be done; however, when the reading
was brought to him he followed it - even with doubt as to
what the results might be. It was not long before the spasms
discontinued entirely, and for six years now he has been rid
of the trouble. We do have to give time. This is a
condition that is GROWN in the warp and woof of an
individual, and has to be eradicated slowly - from the very
basis of it.
Thank you for writing me. Just as soon as I can get the
alcohol, I will make up the Bitters for [
543]. I have all
the other necessary ingredients.
With all good wishes, I am
Sincerely,
EC:GD
8/08/34 EC wrote he had been delayed in sending the Mayblossom
Bitters because of a new ruling requiring a prescription in
order to get alcohol - he was turning it over to a Norfolk
druggist friend [Milton Snyder of Snyder Pharmacy?] who might
be able to prepare it for her.
8/17/34 She wrote of having had a severe electric burn during
one of her spells several weeks ago: "An electric burn is
the worst kind to heal, they say, and it has now been 4 wks.
last Monday since it occurred. I am staying off of my leg
till long after dinner, as that helps it to heal the faster.
And staying in bed is one of my dislikes, also it keeps
Mother in much closer, of which I am sorry. The burn is
healing gradually and I now go to the hospital, in the car,
only every other day to have it dressed. Until the last two
weeks I have had to go every day."
8/21/34 EC's letter:
I am sorry that you haven't gotten entirely over the burn.
Of course, I don't want to interfere, but I am sure if you
will make you a salve of plantain (I suppose you know what
that is - it is one of the weeds that we usually try to get
rid of in our yards). Pull this up by the roots, cut the
roots off of it, bruise it and cut it up right fine, and then
put it on in thick creams and let it come to a boil, and use
this as a salve. You will find that it will clear this up
right away. It is especially good for electrical burns. I
don't want to interfere, of course, with your having it
dressed at the hospital, but if it does not heal as you think
it should, do this.
The proportion in weight is, twice as much of the creams as
of the plantain. Use the leaves, cut them up rather fine
with the scissors, boil it down, let the solution come to a
good boil.
8/24/34 Miss [
543] wired requesting a Ck. Physical, as she
had just received the Mayblossom Bitters this morning.
