This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of July, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self, through his wife, Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes. As we find, conditions are somewhat improved from that we have had heretofore. While there is still much to be desired, for the eliminating of the poisons that have been and are still in those tendencies for infectious forces - and their accumulations in the various portions where the indications are of their settling in the system, these conditions are much improved.
2. We find it would be well that there be the applications for the keeping of the improvements, or for preventing the recurrent conditions; thus there may be gradually built up the system for the resuscitating forces necessary to combat the influences that have existed and that are as tendencies yet.
3. First, we would continue to have the applications of adjustments or pressures along the various centers that make for the drainages from the extremity circulation being blocked, or from the imperfect activity of the circulatory forces. These should be specifically along the upper cervical and upper dorsal area, relaxing by massage at the same time the lumbar and coccyx areas for the relieving of the tiredness that naturally occurs from inactivity of the body.
4. We would make application first of a mild antiseptic solution for the places on face, and the use after same of a combination of Iodex and Animated Ash - in these proportions:
5. To 1/2 ounce of the Iodex add 10 grains of the Animated Ash, worked THOROUGHLY into same. This will not only make for the better drainages of the poisons but keep the condition in a healthy, antiseptic manner to prevent reinfectious forces.
6. For the building up of the body's strength, we would GRADUALLY - as the assimilations are able to be carried on - increase the properties that would be given for strengthening.
7. If the beef juice is prepared properly, a tablespoonful of this carries ALL of the elements that are most worth while for the system - as much as from as large a steak as an ordinary person might eat.
8. The lacking for the system then, is the BODY - or the weight, to make for the activities through the gastric flow of the digestive system; for these having been the first basis of disturbances, we must be precautious as to increasing this too fast or overbalancing in elements that would make for an infection - or a centralizing of poisons in the organs of assimilation.
9. Hence we would begin with what may be termed some of the predigested foods, or Whole Wheat that is rolled and then cooked for two or two and a half hours - only, though, in enamel or glassware. While this carries a great deal of starch, it would be very strengthening and helpful if taken in moderation; that is, in small quantities at the time and given the more often - every hour or the like, you see, not more than a half to a teaspoonful at the time, and this taken slowly, with milk and a little BROWN sugar for the seasoning. This carries those balances of iron and the vitamin elements in phosphorous, the forces in silicon, and the activities necessary to make for a complete balance in the body.
10. So the Beef Juices and the Whole Wheat (this rolled or crushed, not ground) should be sufficient for the next eight days, with - of course - the fruit and vegetable juices that have been indicated, and as given in part. These should TONE, as it were, the activities through the assimilating system.
11. Keep the feet very warm, as indicated, and massage the body occasionally across the abdomen and through the groin and along the cerebrospinal system, with a combination of oils that would be strengthening for that body - in this proportion:
12. To 4 ounces of Olive Oil as the base, add:

    Russian Whits Oil............................1 ounce,
Cedar Oil (not Cedar Nut but Cedar Wood).....1 ounce,
Witchhazel.................................1/2 ounce,
Spirits of Camphor.........................1/4 ounce,
Oil of Sassafras............................40 minims.

    These will separate, to be sure, but shake together when they are massaged. Do this preferably as the body is prepared for the evening rest.
13. Do that. Ready for questions.
14. (Q) How should the beef juice be given so as not to produce gas?
    (A) Better say how it should be prepared! PREPARE it as has been indicated, and give in very SMALL sips. When it's prepared in this manner, with none of the fats, it'll not produce gas - if given with those other properties as indicated.
15. (Q) Now that the formation of pus is running from the front of the head, please give instructions as to care of same.
    (A) As has been indicated.
16. (Q) What antiseptic would be suggested to be used?
    (A) Lavoris, or a VERY MILD use of carbolic acid - one drop to about thirty to forty drops of the water; or the more poisonous nature or character if it is weakened very, very much. The Lavoris, as we find, being in such close proximity to the eye, would be the more preferable; and it is naturally of itself an alkaline, rather than an acid - yet antiseptic.
17. (Q) Should the salve of Iodex and Ash be put right over the place?
    (A) Around the edge and over the place itself.
18. (Q) Can he have buttermilk?
    (A) Not as yet.
19. (Q) When finished with hot pack treatment he is completely exhausted. Please advise.
    (A) It's necessary for those applications to keep down the tendencies for the infections to arise. Then, just gradually decrease these in periods or in the length of time they are applied, see? and as the strength returns gradually decrease, but don't leave them off entirely.
20. (Q) Should Saffron Tea be continued?
    (A) This is better than other antiseptics. If the body desires to discontinue this, owing to the conditions as produced by the mental reaction to same, then take a few drops once or twice a day of Glyco-Thymoline (in half a glass of water); or the Lavoris, if so desired.
21. (Q) Should Olive Oil be continued?
    (A) Should be continued; but reduce the quantity. We need only sufficient of this to make for the reaction to the salivary glands; which would mean, then, one or two drops - which is more effective than so much that it produces nausea.
22. We are through with this reading.
