3/17/38 Daughter Mrs. [
480] phoned at 2:45 P.M.: "Gladys,
I've got some very bad news for you. We've had the best man
in the city, a specialist who has examined Mother and says
the vagina is just full of cancer - he says there isn't
anything he can operate on; that it must have been cancerous
since the flooding started last year. [See
601-19 on
2/09/37;
601-20 on
6/28/37 warning of Mrs. [
601] being infected from
nursing her sister-in-law, Mrs. [
1375] who had cancer of the
rectum. She was still in [
601]'s home on
7/06/37 when [
480]'s
baby was born; and
601-21 on
9/16/37 the latter (
601-21)
referring to 'reproduction of tissue, owing to the auto
injury - [see under
601-9] - and the shock to the nervous
system' from daughter [
480]'s baby being born dead, etc.]
"He suggests taking piece of it to send to Johns-Hopkins
for testing, but he doesn't offer any hope - I'm afraid
we're going to lose her. Daddy [
619] is all broken up.
The Doctor suggests giving her X-Ray treatments, and taking
her to hospital. I've already told Mother the rdg. suggested
operation, so she wants to go to the hospital. Gladys,
please see if there isn't some way to save her - some way
to prevent this."
3/17/38 P.M. See
601-30.
