8/16/41 Letter: "I guess I will have to have a check
reading. The rheumatism has gone to my hips - especially
the right one and down the sciatic nerve (or something).
Every step is painful. Thought I could clear it up with
diet and Eno and Baths, but seems I can't stick tight enough
to the diet, and just a bit of meat or sugar and it is worse.
A toe on the left foot hurts like a cord that is too short;
move it a certain way and it's like tearing it out by the
roots.
"Would like the reading to check a spot (I suppose it the
bowel) just below the waistline and an inch or so to the
right of the navel - it feels sensitive - hurt me first
about a year or more ago.
"Would like to know if the kidneys or liver or bowels or
what causes this rheumatism. Do I think wrong? and in what
way, so I can try to do better."
8/21/41 Letter: "Cannot think of any questions at present.
It is easier to go up town for a mineral bath or sulphur
than to do it by myself at home. However, I can use Epsom
Salts water in the tub and cover it with an oilcloth or
rubber sheet, but I do not get nearly as warm as I do up
town at a bath house.
Have neglected making up the herb, liver stimulant, given
in my first reading [623-1]. If I should, of course the
reading [next] will say so."
