1/17/35 Letter from EC to Mrs. [
631]: "I have yours of
the 15th. I am sorry, indeed, to hear that conditions and
things are so unpleasant. Of course, this does not, of
itself create the frame of mind that could possibly be
constructive, which is, if we analyze it, I believe, just
as necessary as anything else, especially in a condition
such as yours.
"I am writing Dr. Reilly and Gray and asking them to give
me a weekly report, and we may be able from this to check up
the oftener and see why you are not getting, not only the
treatments, but why the results are not coming as they should
for, apparently, you are going backward rather than forward,
and there evidently must be some cause, for, if the
applications as made some time ago brought some relief and
made for an activity that indicated that it was not only
holding, but the causes were being taken away, it is
certainly evident there is some reason why it should take the
turn in the other direction.
"I am hoping from these letters and these reports that we
may be able to keep quite a bit closer in touch with your
specific condition and if possible to really be of a help
in seeing that you get results.
"It is probable that we may be in New York again in the near
future, or within the next 3 or 4 weeks. If we should, of
course, I will have the opportunity to talk this over a
little bit more with Dr. Reilly and yourself, and I am most
anxious to see you get REAL results, and I am very sure, as
it has come to others, it can be yours also if the proper
things are used.
"I want to thank you for your letter, and with all good
wishes..."
2/01/35 [
631]'s letter to EC: "Since my last letter to you,
I haven't had any relief from pain. The pains at night are
more severe, interfering with my rest at night. Eliminations
are still irregular and I am very much discouraged.
"There seems to be more pain and discomfort after the Epsom
Salt baths lasting for at least three days. Am following out
all instructions as outlined in my rdgs.
"Mr. [
1793] is forwarding check..."
2/23/35 Mr. [
1793] (her broker)'s letter: "I have been
requested by Mrs. [
631] to forward to Mr. Cayce - for a
reading - the sum of ten dollars. I therefore enclose a
cheque drawn to my order and endorsed to Edgar Cayce. Mrs.
[
631] does not seem to be meeting with much success in her
efforts to rid herself of her arthritis. I understand that
Mr. Cayce has been informed of this but has ignored her
letters."
2/26/35 Mr. Robert N. Ladd's letter from Sun Air Farm, Oak
Ridge, N.J. to EC: "So much has taken place since I last
wrote or talked to you and our hands and hearts have been
full of much that has brought comfort & peace also much that
has brought sadness and discouragement. It has taken real
'guts' for us to come up and tackle this proposition and we
have had to put every cent of what little we had left in
order to carry on. The way Dr. Reilly is situated he has
little cash he can put in owing to starting the new place in
Radio City. If we had not taken hold here he was going to
close up the place.
"I cannot take the time to tell you much about it all now
as I am in a hurry to get off to Montclair with the battery
for Mrs. [
819], but I wanted to tell you of a condition which
is uppermost in our minds at the moment.
"We are trying to do all we can to help Mrs. [
631] who is
still here at the farm. Mrs. Ladd and I are giving her the
treatments according to the readings but her body is racked
with pains and aches and she gets little rest. She is very
much discouraged and wonders why she did not hear from you
since she last wrote you. I think that she should have a
check reading and Mrs. Ladd and I want to concentrate on it
and ask some questions. Would you please write and offer the
help necessary. You of course know of the terrible mental
and spiritual condition we have to work against in this case
and we are trying to change this so as to make it worthwhile
and heal this body.
"Love to you all..."
