Edgar Cayce Readings, 632-2

(Physical Suggestion)

TEXT

EC: Yes, we have the body, [632]. As we find, there have been changes in the physical forces of the body since last we had same here.
(In undertone: "Some odors about this we don't like - iodoform - flesh - ")
In some respects we find conditions are progressing very well. It should be known by those that wait and labor and work with the body, the applications in any form for disorders do not MAKE life - they only may prepare the way through which life itself MAY manifest.
The applications of the deep therapy rays, as we find, in the most part have been helpful. At times there has been a drying of the tissue, which is in some respects necessary, but not SO severe should these be as to cause the life fluid to be eradicated or eliminated from tissue by such a drying effect. These applications may be found to be necessary later, but when these are applied again there should be used the Ultra-violet with a green light BETWEEN same and body, and the sufficient distance from the rays that the heat does not destroy the glass (eighteen inches, or half way between the body and the light). This will be more effective in producing the field of activity in tissue in which the life fluids and forces may make for more eradications for the body. These we find would be the more helpful for this body, [632].
As to the applications of the oil packs, as suggested, these through absorption are much more effective and not irritating to those things that have made for the forming of the plethora in the body in tissue. This, as we find, came from an old injury that was by pressure on the abdominal area, in leaning or hanging over a (pause) chair or railing, that produced the first adhering of tissue.
Should the application of the oil strike through sufficient, the inflammation may be eradicated by the absorption and the drainages so set up as to prevent the necessity of operative forces. The heart's action, the circulation, the deficiency in the white blood supply, of course, would in the present prevent such a measure being taken anyway.
In taking the body-building fluids in the Ventriculin, we would reduce the quantity very materially. We would add also with this in the diet the beef juices in very small quantities, as also the liver extract. Preferably this would be made fresh, though it may be obtained from the Armour preparations and be found helpful; as will also the addition occasionally of the cod liver oil, with as much of the olive oil as the body will assimilate - to be sure, these taken internally. The White's Cod Liver Oil tablets would be the more effective, for the vitamins are maintained or retained in same that would be helpful. These will be body-building, and with the whole of the activity make for better conditions of body.
General massage along the whole of the spine, gently; rubbing the body occasionally with a combination of equal parts olive oil and tincture of myrrh, heating the oil to add the myrrh - which will rest the body and make for greater stimulation. This may be massaged over the limbs, and especially over the locomotory centers in the spine; that is, the lower lumbar and the upper brachial area and shoulders and back.
These, as we find, would be the greater conditions.
And keep that attitude that the applications are creating the field of activity in which the God-force or life itself may manifest in this body, that it may complete in this experience that development necessary for the maintaining of the soul's attitude and soul's relationships with its Creator and Savior.
Ready for questions.
(Q) When should the Ultra-violet treatment begin?
(A) Should there arise - or, as we find, in ten days or two weeks - this, of course, depends upon the general conditions of the system, see?
(Q) Then the X-Ray treatments should be discontinued?
(A) These are to be completed soon, you see.
(Q) We could not locate Armour's Ventriculin -
(A) (Interrupting) Then use Armour's extract as given, and reduce the quantity of the Parke Davis Ventriculin until it does agree with the body - which should work with the other principles that are body-building also. SMALL doses are much preferable to any large quantity, and given a little oftener - under the conditions.
(Q) Then the Parke Davis Ventriculin should be continued?
(A) In very small doses, in MUCH smaller doses, so it is made to agree. Of course, on account of the drying effect that has been created, should it produce the burning sensations and those activities that are detrimental, then leave off - but reduced quantities, changed, and with the other properties and with the oils, should be effective.
(Q) Should any change be made in castor oil packs?
(A) We would continue with the castor oil packs until there is a SOFTENING, and the eliminations from the system of the swelling.
(Q) Is loss in weight any indication of any trouble or will this body pick up in weight -
(A) (Interrupting) This body should pick up in weight as soon as there may be added sufficient quantities of the building forces to increase the body-force.
(Q) Please describe exact type of X-Ray given in this case.
(A) This is apparent here! It's deep therapy!
(Q) If advisable, please give time, date and description of the accident that caused this trouble with this body.
(A) As indicated, this was sometime ago - where there was a leaning - or an injury to the abdomen - over a rail or chair.
We are through with this reading.

(8/25/34 GD's note: A letter was enclosed to Dr. Dobbins [Frank P. Dobbins, D.O.], who has had experience in following a reading with just such a light treatment suggested. If inconvenient for him to give the treatment - when it becomes necessary, I'm sure he could help you to have it done correctly by someone near.)

BACKGROUND

See 632-1 on 8/10/34 and subsequent Reports.
8/25/34 Mr. [333]'s ltr. (which was rec'd by EC AFTER the rdg.): "Sat. P.M. and unusually quiet here. Mrs. and I have a little while to sit here on the porch together... We are following the case of [632] very closely and the results are a marvel to everyone concerned, especially to the doctors as they do not know of what is being done or, in fact, they know nothing of the rdg. We have seen her 3 times since the trs. were started and have seen the change fr. coma to bright eyes, color in the cheeks and a lively interest in everything. The swelling across the solar plexus area and the abdomen have almost entirely disappeared. Of course the x-ray has caused considerable discomfort, but according to arrangements these trs. will be finished by next Mon., after which time we expect to see wonderful improvement... So if you have the rdg. this p.m. you will know more in a little while than we can tell you about the case."

REPORTS

8/28/34 Mr. [333]'s ltr.: "Everyone concerned feels that the rdgs. are wonderful and they intend to follow them through and we will keep you posted through our contacts with them.
"We are wondering what was meant by the reference to iodoform and iodoform - flesh. Nothing of this nature has been used in the treatments so far as we know." [GD's note: Could the rdg. have been referring to deteriorating flesh?]
8/31/34 EC's ltr.: "We have no idea from what source this comes."
9/07/34 See 632-3.
4/16/73 Don Button's note to GD, from A.R.E. Library:
Encyclopedia Britanica: An antiseptic, discovered by G. S. Serullas in 1822. Prepared by action of: iodine-ethyl alcohol, acetadehyde, acetone, isopropyl alcohol...it has a characteristic ODOR and is volatile in steam.
"The IODOFORM TEST - maybe this is what he said?"
5/02/73 GD's note: Dorland's Medical Dictionary:
IODOFORM (i-o'do-form) [iodine+formyl]. A yellow, crystalline substance, CHI3 having a strong, penetrating odor, containing about 96 per cent of iodine, and soluble in chloroform and ether and somewhat in alcohol and water: a local anesthetic and antiseptic, used as a dressing for wounds and in tuberculous and syphilitic ulcers.
