9/14/36 Mr. [
633]'s ltr.: "Mr. Cayce, I'm going to explain a
very trying thing to you and ask for your kind help and
counsel through a reading. I'm in need of a mental and soul
cleansing - it's a combination of things the psychiatrist
calls introspection, too much self-pity, nerves and what not.
I've been making both [
480] and myself very miserable by its
goings on. It just seems impossible for us to hit it up as
finely as I had dreamed, and I feel I am responsible.
"I have the tendency, since childhood on, towards extreme
sensitivity - thinking and feeling deeply that I am being
talked about, sinned against and altogether made little of.
I am a great one at introspection - on visiting a
psychiatrist at Ann Arbor, he thought it was too great
ambition that was causing my nervous condition. Whatever it
is I possess all these - at times driving along or working,
my mind and eyes will lapse into a semi-hypnotic state, will
stagnate, at other times my mind will fall into an
introspective, self-pitying period. I imagine people are
always attacking my doings or myself personally. I thought
[
480] was attempting to dictate to me, correcting me too
much. [See
480-20, Par. 7, before they were married, warning
her of this.] I sometimes believe I am too lax and apathetic
in business matters; I should like to whip myself into
assertive action. I ask for your help through a detailed,
lengthy mental reading...
"As for questions, may all my doubts and fears be answered as
set forth above, also - how may conditions in our home be
improved? What exercises, mental or physical, can I take to
make me mentally alert and strong? What methods or change
can I make in business to help my mental make-up? What has
caused this whole mental condition and give detailed means or
methods to correct same.
"Write immediately, Mr. Cayce, and give me an appointment,
and you will have the most happy and thankful young man you
ever knew. I hope on hope there can be help given - knowing
you as I do, I feel you will do your utmost to help me at
this time." With love, Sincerely yours, [
633].
