(Q) What is the cause of the peculiar cough which persists
in hanging on?
(A) This is more or less from a sympathetic condition;
contributed to, of course, by the smoking - though this is
not a cause, just a contributory condition; and this made
less active would be helpful.
As we find for the sympathetic condition, lemon with white of
egg and a little honey would be helpful. Of course, beat the
egg very stiff - a few drops of honey, then the juice of a
whole lemon stirred into same, see? The dosage would be two
to three spoonsful of an evening or early of morning - these
are the periods of the greater disturbance.
(Q) Is there any cold or congestion in the system?
(A) It's more acidity from poor eliminations than cold in
the present. With those precautions in the general, as we
find, these should make for the greater improvements.
(Q) Has excessive spraying of Atomidine solution caused this
irritation?
(A) It has not. As we find it is as has been indicated,
much of a sympathetic condition, from anxiety; and is a
nervous reflection.
We would do these things as has been indicated, only using
the assistant morning and evening towards allaying the mucous
membranes' irritation; but it is the nerve reaction rather
than local condition.
We are through with this reading.

REPORTS
1/30/37 His mother-in-law, Mrs. [
601]'s letter: "I was very
happy to hear from you both by letter and over the phone.
"The white of egg combination helped [
633] but I believe the
removal of the cause is up to him and will require more than
local medication. His Life Rdg. (
633-2) indicates more than
any other the influences he has to overcome and am hoping he
will be able to use the advice to better understanding."
2/10/37 Wife [
480]'s ltr.: "[
633] is feeling much better -
he has taken a hold on himself. His mother takes up too much
of his time and energy. She wants sympathizing with all time
and looks to him for it. Too bad but then if she were a
clever woman she wouldn't do it. It's just a question of
being firm with her, and he's too soft. But the situation
has been pointed out to him [See
633-2 and
633-5] and he
understands but it will take some adjusting. She is very
jealous - I'm afraid I have the typical 'motherin-law.' I
don't let her bother me, though."
2/15/37 Wife [
480]'s ltr. to GD: "[
633] is fine and asks to
be remembered to all of you."
