10/15/34 "When the rdg. came I don't believe I've ever
suffered more intense pain in head than I did for several
days afterwards. I don't believe I could have stood it
much longer [She describes difficulty in securing electric
vibrator, laudanum, etc.]... Dr. Davis gave me prescription
for laudanum, no trouble getting aconite. We commenced
using all the things by Wed. [
10/10/34]. I was like another
person. However, it was Wed. afternoon that [...] and [
1427]
came. They stayed until Friday morning. Of course, I missed
my treatments for
2-3 days and am going back to them today.
My head doesn't feel quite so good."
5/20/35 "I'm going to have to ask for a rdg. when you can...
I feel awful not enclosing payment with my request - can
assure you if it hadn't been for your help last summer
don't know where I'd be now. And I am taking the packs
and vibrations again, but I'm not exactly suffering the same
way. Where the bones are sore, awfully sore to the touch
about the head. My head only aches badly right on top, but
my back - my back - right in what I term flat of back, it's
sore to touch - all up and down spine. Is it natural result
of age - what is the matter. I'm so afraid of something
malignant, and I'm trying so hard to keep that out of my
mind..."
6/10/35 "As you see, I wrote the real letter [above]
2-3
weeks ago... I was thinking I'd wait and see how I felt,
and I do feel some better, but you know it's funny, it's
after I retire that I really feel worse. I sleep
dreadfully. I've such pain in my right arm and shoulder -
runs clear to finger tips. What makes it? Then at times I'm
nauseated and dizzy but not nearly so badly. As I told you,
I took some oil packs and vibrations - that helped dizziness
but not the pain in arm and nervousness. When you get time
will you please give me a rdg.?"
6/18/35 "I hope this reaches you in time. I've had and have
yet one of those horrible headaches. I just couldn't write
or anything. Right now I feel a little better. Questions:
Why do I feel pain in arm and shoulders more at night (unless
use or lift something, rarely feel it in daytime) but at
nights can hardly sleep for it. What makes me so nervous
and restless at nights? Are my teeth causing any of the
trouble? (I'm told it's most all of trouble.) What makes
me so cross and irritable at times when I don't know I'm
going to be or intend to?"
