1/15/74 Received a letter from Mr. [
670] requesting a copy
of his Life Rdg. stating: "...I stayed in Europe after
WW II, I am now retired from Civil Service and live
permanently here in France. I had lost all contact with
the activities of the A.R.E. for many years.
"We invited a French lady (Madam de A) to Thanksgiving Dinner
last year and during a conversation with my oldest son your
father's name was brought up [letter to Hugh Lynn]. My son,
of course, replied that I had known your father. The result
was a lengthy and very interesting discussion as you may
imagine.
"This was my first knowledge that books have been written on
your wonderful father's abilities. I tried to find my Life
Reading to show the lady but it has apparently been lost or
destroyed during one of our many moves...
"Not being able to show my Life Reading was a disappointment,
particularly since the lady is one of a group here that is
very much interested... As an outcome of our conversations,
she loaned me her copy of De Nombreuses Demeures (Many
Mansions). I read it (the first time I have had the courage
to read all the way through a book in French) and enjoyed
it very much. It reminded me of many things I had half
forgotten...
"My new daughter-in-law gave me a copy of Lytle Robinson's
'Edgar Cayce's Story of the Origin and Destiny of Man' as
a Christmas present. Since I have a deep conviction in your
late fathers activities and the truths he revealed, and also
a deep interest in archaeology (as your father prophesied),
the book is more than interesting. I have read it twice
already (studied it would be a more accurate term).
"Now, I suppose as everyone who writes to you, the time has
come to tell you my troubles and ask for your help. First
and most important my youngest son age sixteen suffers from
attacks of semi-consciousness. Extensive examination and
tests, including the latest made by the American Hospital
of Paris, indicate that he suffers from a brain injury at
birth. The final diagnosis is: 'temporal lobe epilepsy
secondary to birth injury and left cortical atrophy.'...
"Another problem of purely self interest is that I feel
I should be doing something constructive rather than or in
addition to sailing, fishing, building radio control devices
and model boats and airplanes. In view of my retirement
annuity and my wife's real estate interests in France, I no
longer have the excuse of working for my families security.
It is therefore imperative that I resume constructive effort
to fulfill my purpose in life even though belatedly. I say
'resume' because before WW II I did work for the Smithsonian
and felt I was doing what your father had advised. I feel
that a copy of my old Life Reading and any related readings
you have on file might help me. A paragraph on page 111 of
Edgar Cayce's Story of the Origin and Destiny of Man by
Lytle Robinson, identified as case 670-1 appears to be
extracted from my Life Reading...
"All matters of an archaeological nature are of interest to
me, i.e., I vaguely recall that pits of unknown use were once
defined. These were found throughout the world. Such pits
were recently uncovered in the Pyrenees mountains not far
from here. These are pits of varying sizes and depths,
lined and probably covered with flat stones or slabs
sometimes three feet by two feet and several inches thick.
Information relative to the Basque people is also of great
interest to me because I live among them.
"If there is anything I can do for you, perhaps an errand
on this side of the ocean, please feel free to ask me.
"I am, of course, prepared to pay all costs of material you
may send me..." [

9/17/74 Letter received from [
670] after Life Reading sent:
"Thank you very much for the copy of my Life Reading.
I feel I can still apply the guidance. I am blessed with
good health and considerable freedom of choice, I will
eventually identify an appropriate channel and engage in
something constructive. The introductory brochure is very
interesting. I had not realized the magnitude of the A.R.E.
It brought back memories of people I knew almost forty years
ago, like David E. Kahn and Dr. Reilly. As to the list of
publications I wish I could read all of them. I may come
to Virginia some day and get a taste of this wealth of
material. How is the cost of living at the beach? Your
journey to Mt. Carmel is indeed very interesting. I hope
that as a result you will be able to stimulate the interest
of an appropriate archaeological society to accomplish the
extensive research and excavation that the site deserves..."
