This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at The Oakland, 2006 Columbia Road, Washington, D.C., this 17th day of October, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - through Mr. [699], new Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the Cayce lecture at the Willard Hotel on Oct. 5th.

Present: Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [698] and Mr. [699], Lillian B. Whitmore, Mrs. McCurdy and little boy.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [698], present in this room.
2. Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions in the physical forces of this body. These have to do with the general functioning of the system, and especially as related to specific conditions in the functioning of organs of the sensory system.
3. These, as we find, show the unbalancing of the elements that go to make up the activities in the various forces of the functioning system. And, as we find, these may be aided materially in bringing a much better reaction and a much nearer normal condition for this body.
4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [698] we are speaking of, present in this room.
5. In the BLOOD SUPPLY we find much that indicates the character of the disorders that have arisen in the system; for with the character of impoverishment that has been produced there has been the attack upon the nerve plasm and blood supply as related to the sensory system, and specifically to those that supply to the orb and a portion of the flow through the optics and their relation to the brain centers themselves. This has produced, then, the softening first of the tissue in the optic center, that has made for the accumulations of drosses in the flow about the lachrymal ducts, that have hindered in making for the correct reflection in the lens of the eye, or iris dilation being hindered has prevented the reflection being made properly.
6. In these conditions there are, as we find, those elements in the system, then, that need correction, as well as the keeping of that stimulation which has been made to the body, not only through the suggestive activities upon the imaginative forces or the sympathetic reflexes themselves in the system but more specifically from those centers, those ganglia through which the impulses of the circulation go to those portions of the system. Hence there is the necessity of reducing, in a manner, those pressures in those areas which, as we find, may be the better accomplished with the addition to that being applied of the periods when there would be the sweat baths that carry medication with same for the changing of the vibrations in the system and their activities upon the glands and upon the actions of the system itself. These we would take at least once each month - the cabinet sweat baths that carry with same the fumes, or the releasing of the iodine that it may be absorbed by the system. And there should be the rubdowns following same, or salt rubs, followed with a massage with this combination:
7. To 4 ounces Russian White Oil, add:

   Witchhazel....................2 ounces,
Tincture of Benzoin...........1 ounce,
Oil of Sassafras.............10 minims.

   These will tend to separate when combined. Before using - after the bath, after the rubdown - shake together and pour a small quantity in an open container, and massage THOROUGHLY - ESPECIALLY in the cervical area, the upper dorsal area, and in the locomotories; that is, the brachial plexus and the lumbar plexus. For these, as we find, will aid in that stimulation that will bring for the body the better conditions - with the building up of the circulation through the addition of the vibrations that have been added to the system.
8. In the diet, keep much of that which will add more phosphorous and gold to the system; as we will find in certain of the vegetables as carrots, salsify, squash, the rind of Irish potatoes (not the pulp), okra, and the like. These should be a portion of the diet each day; not that it would be these ONLY - but keep more of an alkalin diet. No heavy or red meats.
9. Do this, and we will bring for this body a much nearer normal and STRENGTHENED condition.

11. (Q) What would you suggest for reducing the blood pressure?
    (A) This diet, these rubs - these will naturally reduce the blood pressure. Of course, the high enemas will reduce quicker than any - which should be a portion of the treatment with the sweats and rubs, you see. When the sweat is given, to be sure, this should not be a HIGH sweat; but, you see, the fumes should rise in the cabinet, with the temperature not above a hundred and one (101). Then the properties should be released in the fumes, as indicated - the iodine - so that the fumes settle over the body. Then have a thorough rubdown, then add the massage with the compound we have indicated. And we will reduce the pressure, we will change these vibrations, and will strengthen the vision.
12. (Q) What medication should be put in the baths or fume material?
    (A) Iodine. Preferably we would use the atomic iodine, known as Atomidine. This would be put in a croup cup, you see, so that the STEAM from same enters.
13. (Q) Eucalyptus oil also?
    (A) Eucalyptus is helpful, but at this specific time we would use more of the Atomidine. Eucalyptus may come later with wintergreen and the same solution, or a little Oil of Turp or - better still - Oil of Pine Needles; but this would come later. We want to reduce rather, first, the pressure, and change these vibrations in the system. The iodine activity in this manner will NOT injure the body in ANY form, you see - while if it were taken internally it would work AGAINST the condition in the sensory system.
14. (Q) Should the radio-active treatment he has been given be continued?
    (A) As indicated, this should be continued - for it is the proper stimulation for the system; but these others would only be added to reduce the pressure and change the vibrations in the blood - that will make the radio-active forces more effective to the system.
15. (Q) Should he be given any iron?
    (A) RATHER would we change, now, to the silicon and the phosphorus - as we have indicated - ONLY through the vegetable force, and the seafoods.
16. (Q) You wouldn't give him anything for anemia?
    (A) There is nothing better for anemia than phosphorus, with these conditions! Conch soup would be the MORE effective. NOTHING more effective in the blood supply than Gold, that we obtain from the seafoods; such as oysters, clams - but not crabs, not such natures as these. Certain elements as we would find in the LOBSTER would be well, but not the Maine lobster; preferably those of southern waters. But the conch would be excellent. This is best obtained from Miami or Bimini.
17. (Q) How long before you think glasses or change of glasses, would be of service to him?
    (A) This to be sure, depends upon the response to the applications as they are made, for this change of vibrations in the system. But, as we find, in eight weeks there should be a decided change such that glasses will be helpful.
18. (Q) Do you think both eyes would be helped?
    (A) Both eyes will be helped. Of course, where there has been a portion of the film here that has an injury upon same, it will first make for a blur; then it will gradually, as we find, have a PARTIAL vision in same - and the glass that will be made for that will be of the cylindrical change, from fourteen to thirty-two.
19. (Q) The operated eye will also, then, get vision later on?
    (A) As we find, it should get vision also.
    DO these things as we have indicated, not as rote but as knowing that the divine influences that may be meted and met in the experience of every soul are creating those forces that will bring the better body and mind for the manifestation of that God-force in each soul.
