Edgar Cayce Readings, 711-3

(Physical Suggestion)

EC: Yes, same address. [Brother, [305], had just had rdg. at same address.] Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before. Conditions are not so good. Many things are wrong! Much upset! [GD's note: See previous correspondence under 711-2 in re [711] having suffered with a very bad case of impetigo, then pink eye, etc.]
As we find, these are the conditions to be met in the present:
There is congestion in the liver, and in the LOBE of the liver proper; affecting the secretions and excretions in the blood supply of the system. Hence the conditions that exist in the superficial circulation where there are the accumulations of pus and poison in various portions of the system. There is that tendency for the lack of the secretions to function normally through the ducts and glands in the liver proper, and in the area about same; producing congestion and a calling for those conditions in the pancreas that makes for a bad disorder. Choking; or subluxations - as in the manner of congestion of subluxing - the lower hepatic circulation, or the sparse activity of the kidneys and bladder; and yet there are some periods when it is rather profuse but very high-colored and has a very offensive odor. Those activities also to the head, to the GLANDS throughout the whole of the system, are affected by this incoordination in the functioning of the gland (the liver) as an excretory and secretive activity; which, to be sure, affects the whole system. High pulsation; high blood pressure; high temperature.
As we would find, these would be the applications we would make for the body in the present:
First begin with sponging off the body along the cerebro-spinal system with rub alcohol, about once or twice each day for a period of four or five days - do this morning and evening. Now, be consistent with it! Have a regular time; not as rote, but as a necessity. For if there isn't something done, they will be wanting to cut on her!
Then we would begin with Castor Oil packs that would WHOLLY ENCIRCLE the body, across the lower portion of the lungs to the lower portion of the hips, you see - ENCIRCLE the body with three to four thicknesses of heavy flannel dipped in hot Castor Oil and applied as hot as the body can stand it; though, of course, don't BURN the body. And do this night and morning for five to six days! keeping the packs warm on the body for two to three hours at each treatment.
On the third and fourth day of the packs, begin with taking internally very small doses of Fletcher's Castoria, prepared in this manner:
Secure a small (900 drop) bottle of Fletcher's Castoria. Take out at least a teaspoonful (you can take that yourself, if you like!) and in its place put 1/2 grain of Senna, a teaspoonful of the Syrup of Figs, and 2 minims of Syrup of Squill. See? Shake this together each time the dose is taken, and give it every half hour - not more than a quarter teaspoonful. And only give water with every other dose. There's a special reason for this; for you want those activities along the bronchi and throat and different points to adhere to the circulation through these portions, to make for the variation in the activities of the circulation through the system - which they will do if they are not washed down, see? Take the whole quantity until there are the thorough eliminations.
Then begin with only a GRAPE diet; and preferably have the seed removed from every one of these. Let the body eat all the grapes it wants, at ALL times of meals! Do this for THREE DAYS!
Then eat ONLY PEARS for two days.
We would then begin with the BEEF JUICE and give it every hour for two days. Don't wake the body up at night to give it, but take it during the waking state.
Then we may begin with a diet of the citrus fruit juices, then the semi-liquid foods, you see; as a little strained oatmeal at some times - not at the same time that the citrus fruit juice is given, however. Whole wheat toast. The activities that may be had from the juice from liver; not fried, but broiled. Coddled egg, and ONLY the yolk of same - don't fry the eggs! CODDLE them - which means to put them on when the water is boiling and let them set in the water five minutes; but take off the water, of course, don't leave it on boiling for five minutes - else the eggs would be blue! Give the yolk to the child, and you may eat the white yourself if you want to - it would be very good for you! [GD's note: Evidently EC here was making a side remark to the mother, Mrs. [2457].]
No fried meats, and especially not fried potatoes. When potatoes are to be taken at all, eat the jackets and throw the inside of it away! Only those portions that adhere to the outside, when they are roasted, see? This means Irish potatoes or sweet potatoes either.
Leafy vegetables, well-cooked. No hog meat. Lamb and fowl may be taken then, and especially while the body is recuperating the wild game would be well. No apples. No candy. NO sweetmeats. Jello, arrowroot, junket, these things may be taken - blancmange may be taken. No bananas, no apples; not any quantity of nuts, though almonds may be taken occasionally - almonds and filberts; but none of the rest of the nuts. Do this, and in a month we will have the body looking quite different. We are through with this reading.

10/16/34 Mother's ltr.: "[711] is in bed this morning with a sick headache. She is 16 lbs. underweight. Everything seems wrong with her. It may be other trouble working on her, she will be twelve next month... Is [711]'s appendix giving her any trouble? She sometimes complains of her right side hurting so, but never of the stomachache that goes with it."

REPORTS

10/31/34 Mother's ltr.: "The readings arrived yesterday morning, and to say I appreciate them is not saying anything, but I am trying to get things together to follow them out, consistently and persistently. I bought a quart of Castor Oil to start the packs, after sponging the body twice a day with rub alcohol for 4-5 days. Have made the Castoria up as prescribed. I noticed I could take the teaspoon of Castoria and eat the egg white. I put the Castoria in a used bottle that had some Castoria in it. I think I 'take in' all about [711], but about the...for [305]..."
11/22/34 "Do you know [711] has gained three pounds? ...I had a good bit of trouble with her in many ways but I had my way most of the time [in following out the treatment]."
6/13/41 Mother's letter: "[711] did graduate [from high school] and has been in bed ever since with sore throat. If she would be careful and take precautions she wouldn't have this trouble ever so often. This makes about 4-5 times she has been laid up with sore throat. She and [305] are the hardest persons to do anything for that I ever contacted."
9/29/41 Mother mentioned that [711] had gotten married, 9/06/41.
12/15/41 "Well, if you have the time to give [711] a reading just let me know, will surely appreciate it until you are better paid. Believe I'm to be a 'gramma' before you are a 'granpa.'"
