This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of December, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [715], new Active Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
2. Now, as we find, there are improvements in the general physical condition of this body. While there are still those conditions that disturb the body, and there must be those precautions taken else there will be the arising of that which would become malignant in those conditions in the pelvic organs and which would become a greater and greater strain upon the physical forces of the body - if these drainages will be kept set up in the system, and the activities followed that have been and may be indicated here, we find the conditions taken in the present may be eliminated.
3. As is indicated in the general outline that has been given, as much precaution should be taken respecting keeping up the vitality and the resistance as respecting anything else; for there is the necessity of revivifying the depleted blood circulation and building more rich red blood, that there may not be the activity of infectious forces through the respiratory or pulmonary system.
4. Hence precautions must be taken as to keeping the body WARM, the feet dry at all times; and then the changes that we would outline in the present:
5. We would continue with the warm Atomidine douche, at least three times each week; a tablespoonful of the Atomidine in two quarts of water would not be too severe. This, as we find, will aid in preventing infection from discharges in congested area in the pelvic system.
6. We would have the body rubs, especially over the cerebrospinal system as well as across the diaphragm and the throat and across the lower PELVIS area. Such a massage would be given each evening (preferably after using the electrically driven vibrator over the whole of the same area indicated for ten to fifteen minutes), rubbing into the body what it will absorb of a compound prepared in this manner - into the cerebrospinal system, the throat and neck, across the diaphragm, across the lower portion of the abdomen:
7. To 4 ounces Russian White Oil, or Usoline, or Nujol, add - in the order named:

   Oil of Wintergreen...............1 ounce,
Tincture of Benzoin............1/2 ounce,
Oil of Cedar Wood................1 ounce,
Kerosene or Coal Oil.............1 ounce,
Oil of Sassafras...............1/2 dram.

   These will tend to separate when left standing. Before ready to use, shake well together; pour only a small quantity in an open container to massage into the body as indicated.
8. Be mindful now that the body-building diet is adhered to, in this manner:
9. Mornings - citrus fruit juices or fruit juices; as pineapple juice, grapefruit, orange, lemon (orange and lemon are better together than separate), grape juice, or the like. All of these, or any one of these, may be taken at the meal; with whole wheat toast, coffee or milk or Ovaltine. A little crisp breakfast bacon occasionally. Coddled egg; or these may be taken at other meals.
10. Say at nine-thirty to ten o'clock in the morning, between the breakfast and lunch meals, we would have a malted milk with egg - ONLY the YOLK of the egg in same; this well beaten together, and use three to five drops of LEMON - not lemon extract, but LEMON juice. Beat together. It may be used with ice cream or otherwise. If preferable, the other juices may be used, but do not use synthetic flavoring for same.
11. Noons - meat broths or vegetable broths, or a whole green fresh raw vegetable salad may be taken - these may be varied.
12. In the middle of the afternoon we would again have the CHOCOLATE malted milk, or Coco-Malt, or such natures. In THIS we would use rather a teaspoonful of spirits frumenti, or wine, or of such a nature; not MORE than a teaspoonful, but with the whole YOLK ONLY of the egg.
13. Evenings - well-balanced, well-cooked vegetable diet, with meats that are only of the wild game, fowl, fish, lamb or mutton; not beef, not hog meat.
14. Keep up the eliminations, even if it is necessary to use high enemas or colonics, to keep the drosses carried from the system.
15. These, as we find, would bring for the body the better conditions.

17. (Q) Is entire treatment being given properly?
    (A) As indicated, we are changing the conditions for the body in the present. Take these that we have indicated here, in the present.
    Keep the body WARM, and the feet dry. This doesn't mean not to take a foot bath, but don't get the feet damp or wet in the weather!
18. (Q) Am I overtaxing my body?
    (A) If these activities are carried on with the treatments that have been indicated, it will not be an overtaxation - as we find.
19. (Q) What is causing loss of weight?
    (A) Those applications that have been given to reduce the activities and tendencies of elements in the system to set themselves up as resistances to BETTER physical forces - or CONSTRUCTIVE physical forces in the body. Now we will build consistently!
20. (Q) What causes constant discharge?
    (A) As indicated, this is from congestion there - and is what is being warned against by using the Atomidine douche, as indicated, three times each week.
21. (Q) Any further advice?
    (A) Do these at this time.
    Keep the mental body in a CONSTRUCTIVE manner. Let the spiritual attitude be that there is a PURPOSEFULNESS in all of the physical and mental activities, and those purposes not for self-aggrandizement or glorification, nor for preservation of body alone - but rather to the glory of the Creative Forces that are each individual's heritage through the Christ-power in the earth.

1. 2/21/35 Letter from [715] to EC: "As I told you when I acknowledged the check-up Reading - I told you that I was following the instructions - I failed to tell you however, that I do not use the vibrator - as it is not so that I can. This 'cerebrospinal region' that you speak of - does that mean just the back of the neck or the entire length of the spinal column? Of course I can do all of the treatment myself - except that - and if it is not necessary to rub the entire spine - then I will be that less trouble to someone else. I judge from all the reading said - that it is a tubercular condition. I feel better in a great many ways, and think I have gained some.
   "I am so unhappy in my surroundings. I think that retards rapid improvement - and I'm wondering if you think I might be well enough to seek employment elsewhere?" [GD's note: She was unemployed at the time and living with her sister, [1690] and family.]
2. 3/02/35 EC's letter to [715]: "Yours of the 21st received while I was in Washington hence the delay in your hearing from me, glad to know you feel some better and that you are gaining, you should be able to get some to give you the Vibrator treatments, you should have them the whole length of the spine, that is what is meant by the 'Cerebrospinal region' the whole length of the spine. That shouldn't be hard to get, yet I realize that it is much easier said than done. Now will you let me say something, [715], and please take it just as it is meant, am sure the surroundings seem hard for you, but stop and think a moment. If God hadn't seen that the present surroundings were the best for you, then they would have been different, our job then is to make the very best of what we have, but if we allow ourselves to fret and worry because we want something else then we keep ourselves sick, make things unpleasant for everyone else, and always make bad matters worse. Meet what you have with a grin, make the most of where you are, thinking the more often of what you can do in a little kindness for someone near. Speak gentle and kind always, no matter how hard it hurts at the time, and you will see a lot of difference very soon. Try that for me won't you?
   "I don't think it means Tubercular - more of neglect and a severe irritated case of Catarrh, that often becomes Lymph ridden, but persistent use of that suggested should rid your system of it all, but your mental attitude will have a lot to do with it. Try my suggestion. See what happens, write me real often won't you. Pray about it, [715]."
3. 3/27/35 [715]'s letter to EC: "I received your nice letter in answer to mine about 3 weeks ago - and I've tried to follow your advice. I'm wondering if I should keep up all of the same treatment. The medicine I rub with is almost gone. Shall I continue with that and the diet also? I think I improved so much for a while - but I can't tell exactly about the present. That terrible gnawing feeling and nausea in my stomach is coming back - and again I have those terrible pains in my sides. I think its the terrible mental strain I'm under. Things that I have nothing in the world to do with - (You just don't know), but perhaps in the near future with some help I expect to get - that will be relieved.
   "I do appreciate all you have done for me - and let me know when you can [know?] what I shall do."
4. 5/01/35 EC's letter to [715]: "Please know that it has not been negligence or indifference that has delayed my answering your letter of March 27th, but have been out of town and they do not forward mail to me as am kept busy where ever I am trying to help wherever I am. Was in N.Y. three or more weeks and nearly as long in Washington, D.C. Just got home.
   "Do hope you had your rub made up again and have kept on with your treatments. Know it is all hard [715]. It is just so long as we think it is, but whenever we make up our minds that it is something for us to tackle as a job, conquer it and do it in the name of our God and Savior. Well He takes the hard part of it for us just as he has promised to do. No I am not preaching, and tho all others may think, talk, act differently, if you are on the Lord's side who can be against you?
   "Have you tried the Alcaroid, [715]? After the meals a small quantity of that in a glass of water will get rid of all those pains in stomach and gas that forms from worry. You dissolve the quarter teaspoon full in a little water. Then fill the glass, and be sure and drink a little more afterwards. See if that doesn't help. Has been so long tho you may need another reading. If so let me know and know I will only be glad to try and help.
   "Write me right away. Will be here for some time now and won't be so long in answering you.

5. 5/27/35 [715]'s letter to EC: "I've been so negligent about writing to you after your nice letter of May 2. I don't know whether or not you will even care to take an interest in my case anymore.
   "I don't remember exactly the date - but it was sometime in March. I stopped letting Sis [1690] rub my spine - but as long as the rubbing mixture lasted I rubbed the other parts of my body myself. Things were so disagreeable - part of them in the house did not even speak to me. I'm an overly sensitive person anyway - and I lost interest in myself - really not caring whether or not I lived or passed on - but still with a prayer all the time that God would provide a way for me to get away from the environment. He was good to me and answered those prayers. A way was provided - and now mentally I feel relieved. But I know I'm far from well.
   "My sides hurt. I have headaches and nausea so much. I wish I knew for sure whether it is tuberculosis of those pelvic organs. The discharge is just like the sputum - I have seen from tubercular patients. Seems with the milk I drink - a quart a day - and the food I should be able to build up more. There is something else that worries me - a sort of creeping nervous sensation - almost constantly on the left side of my back and then occasionally on my right side back.
   "If you are not too disgusted with me - Cousin Edgar - I'll try again to do what you say - IF you should give me another reading if possible."
6. 6/03/35 Letter from EC to [715]: "I have yours of the 27th, and you know I will be very glad to try and be of some help to you through another reading. We are making the appointment for Monday afternoon, the 10th, between 3:00 and 4:00 o'clock Eastern Standard (2:00 to 3:00 your time, unless you have Daylight Savings - in which case it would be 3:00 to 4:00 your time also). If this is satisfactory, submit the questions, and let us know the exact address at which you will be. Also remain quiet during that hour, and hold to this affirmation; that is, prayer:
   "MAY THE VERY HIGHEST BE THE IMPELLING INFLUENCE THROUGH THAT ONE SEEKING TO AID ME NOW.
   "I certainly hope we can offer some suggestions that will really be of help to you. I can appreciate very well the circumstances which you mention. Remember, I know the family pretty well - I knew your father and mother many years before they were married, [Mr. [3772] & Mrs. [1181]] and I know the innate traits and dispositions. I do hope everything will work out alright, though.
   "You are, I think, unduly alarmed about some conditions. Remember, it isn't all physical; it isn't all mental; neither is it all spiritual, except that our mental and physical being SHOULD be spiritualized, and should have the correct spiritual motives. I don't mean by that just being goody- goody, but I mean being actively, positively, creatively constructive in bringing good into the life of self and all others contacted.
