4/20/39 EC's letter:
Dear [
715]:
Thank you for yours of the 16th. Believe this is about as
sweet a letter as ever received. Can tell you it did me a
world of good - of course when one realizes the Peace, the
good feeling that comes from doing something they know all
along is right - but when whatever it may be gives that
exultation of the love of the Mother and the Peace of a near
presence - well that is what HE meant when He promised to
leave HIS peace with us. Am so glad you are going to Church
again, just hope you will keep it up - not as mere something
that has to be done but because you love the communion it
brings to you in the consciousness of your loved ones being
near you.
[
1690] carries a heavy heart - disappointed - in so many
ways. Seemingly not able to stand the weariness of the body
but a heart of gold. Love her and every one of you and her
children - are not the happiness one would imagine at times
they should bring - but really sweet, lovely children - yes,
we can all tell them what they should do, but let's not be
too hard on them; to find fault with them is only to make it
harder for them and give them a complex that they are good
for nothing but to cause worry to some one - and they proceed
to do just that - and we who find fault are really the ones
that drive them to it. Love can do much more for them and
with them than telling them how idle they are and what a
burden they are. And when love shows the way, when they do
anything it will be to share and help their Mother. They
have and do appreciate - am I talking crazy - possibly so -
but [
1089] worships you and you can do any thing with him -
but not by fussing at him or driving him away from you.
Know I have those children in mind and am praying for them -
am sure they will yet make good in a big way - am happy if my
prayers for [
1690] have helped. The Lord knows from our
feeble point of view she needs help and HE alone can give the
strength to carry on - know she gets tired, very tired.
Will be a marvelous thing could you but help those children
find themselves - that is all they need. They are
discouraged, that you know - and they seldom possibly hear
anything but what is discouraging to them. Take a hold and
help - love an encouraging word do wonders for them. And
think how much joy you would give your precious Mother
[
1181], for she loved those children also.
Have been all in myself for past week - just over did myself
- tried to do too much - can't take it - am having to rest
this week - holds many up - feel sorry that can't help as
many might - some have come to rely on the information and
are wondering what to do, I know - but hope to be able to
work again soon - am going to N.Y. for a Lecture - can you
imagine - me in that role.
My little birdie [canary] is setting again - hope, too, she
has better luck next time.
Give me love to all. Write again soon, [
715] - is sweet of
you to write now and then. Try out the suggestion and see if
it doesn't help them - as well as yourself - not
dictatorially but lovingly, kindly, yet not pamperingly.
Love you, your cousin, Edgar
5/31/39 "Am not feeling so well - am keeping up with the
treatment as best I can - but have not gained any weight -
suppose it's because I'm so full of nervous energy - can't be
idle a minute, not even to listen to radio - have to read or
sew even then - don't sleep well - can't stop my mind from
turning over and over."
3/24/40 Dear Cousin Edgar:
It's been quite a long time since I've heard from you -
believe I wrote to you last - but that's neither here nor
there. For no one detests letter writing more than I - not
only that - but I do not have the time with working and the
things I have to do at home. Have been trying to get around
to writing to you for some time.
Have been feeling worthless for a long while, and your
wondering if the "bug" is beginning to work again - feel as
tho I run a little temperature all the time and have no
strength - tho I have so much energy - MENTAL. I can't let
things go when they need to be done. Sis [
1690] and I, I
think, are the only one of Mama's [
1181]'s children who are
either blessed or cursed with that particular trait. The
others just let things go and give up to their feelings.
Don't know but what they get along much better and will live
longer.
About a year ago when you gave me a check reading you advised
me to take the Codiron which I did up until about the middle
of December. Since I am feeling so 'punk' I wonder if I
should start taking them again. I cough quite a good deal.
Seems that my throat just fills up and that area on my right
side just below my ribs pains me much as well as my back.
Sometime when you have a vacant period, would you consider
checking on me again? If you cannot it's alright - for a
times I feel it doesn't make much difference anyhow.
3/28/40 EC's letter:
Dear [
715]:
Have yours of the 24th and please know am not neglecting you
because this is not giving you a period for an appointment,
but analyzing the former readings believe can tell you that
best to do. However, if you are not feeling lots better real
soon, be sure and let me know at once and will get the
reading to be sure, but have planned a meeting in N.Y.
beginning the 6th of Apr. and every period has been taken
until we leave. So that is why am not doing that first.
But do this: Yes, begin with your Adiron at once. Take one
each meal you eat. But most of all get your KEG with the
brandy in same going, inhale the fumes from that night and
morning. When Gertrude had flu in Jan., she began just like
you to go down, little cough, a little temperature each day -
easily tired out and like. Got her on to the Brandy keg at
once and she has come along fine. PLEASE don't put that off,
do it now. [
1089] will help you get it going am sure, if you
feel after a few days you are still having some temperature,
then get you some Calcidin tablets, 1 Grain. Get you a two
ounce bottle at drug store with two ounces of Distilled water
in same. Put three of the tablets in it, shake to dissolve
them, keep in your purse and take just a sip some four times
each day at least. Not unpleasant, tho not the sweetest dose
in the world. But it will keep cough down and make you keep
much warmer. Keep your feet dray and don't get out in Night
air too much.
Now will you do that, then let me hear from you won't you.
Yes feel very much neglected at times when think so much of
you all, but know you have other things to think of - unless
you need me.
How is [
1690], [
715]? Hope she is better. She has had a
hard time of it with much to worry about and worry kills more
people than illness.
Write me.
With lots of love, Cousin Edgar
8/12/40 "I am sick, and I don't know what to do. Feel like I
just can't keep going unless something is done. My side is
giving me so much trouble - in the liver area, I think. Can
you help me - this last time?" Love, [
715]
8/20/40 See
715-9.
