1/14/35 Letter from EC to mother: "I have yours of the 9th,
and note what you have to say about Dr. Brooks coming in
to see [
728].
"I do not see how the Epsom Salts packs would be harmful at
all. I am sure they would be advisable, even if they were
given just before the application of the oil packs, for this
would open the pores of the skin and allow the body to absorb
a great deal more of the oil. It may become a little bit
severe, but would be especially good just before her periods.
"The taking of the mineral oil is advisable, provided she
does not take so much of it that it upsets the digestion
and doesn't give the system time enough to assimilate the
food values from that she takes in her diet. It is a very
natural thing that when she continues to keep the stomach
empty, that she would become quite hungry. I think an
advisable thing to try would be the malted milk between
meals. This may be changed from the regular to the
chocolate, or she may at times put an egg in same. She can
vary it also by the addition of or leaving out raw milk.
This should satisfy the appetite, and would be wholesome and
body building, and tend to make for better normal activity of
the eliminating system. This would especially be good for
her to take just before retiring at night, taken about as
warm as she can drink it. This tends to make for the
necessary nerve reaction for her to fall asleep.
"The vibrator treatment may be given also just before time
to sleep, and it might be well that the vibrator treatment
be given, after the oil packs, along the spine.
"I understand this makes a considerable amount of work to
do, but I am very sure you nor [
728] will spare any trouble
if we can bring about a correction of these disorders. When
you give the packs, these would last for possibly one or two
periods of heating them, which would be 15 or 20 minutes.
Then the vibrator treatment would be for 5 or 10 minutes
and, if I remember correctly, is to work from the center
of the spine towards the extremities. This not too rapid,
but quite thorough.
"Thanking you for your interest, and hoping and trusting
that we, indeed, may be of a service, appreciating your
letting us hear from you regularly, I am..."
1/17/35 Mother's letter to EC: "I received your letter today
and I thank you very much. I am very sorry to annoy you so
much, but you are the only one I can obtain advice from.
I am in a very complicated position.
"When I first started your treatments I gradually cut out
Dr. James pills. Since the Check Reading, I do not give her
any pills at all. For a few days she was fair, but then
the attacks became so numerous, that they interfered with
her sleeping and eating. She has as many as a 100 attacks
a day. Today she had a severe falling attack. She could
not go on this way any longer. So I had to give her a half
of a pill.
"Please advise what to do, if her attacks are as bad. Hope
to hear from you soon. Yours truly,..."
1/22/35 EC's letter to mother: "Personally, I think you
were quite right in resorting to the use of the pills,
under the circumstances.
"I will try and make a check on this in the morning, and I
hope will be able to have something that will be worthwhile.
Of course, this is on our own, and no expense to you.
"Hoping and trusting that we may be of a service, I am..."

the body here."
