TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [733]; this we have had before.
2. As we find, there are a great many changes in the physical forces of the body from that as we have had here before; while in the present there is the recurrence of some disturbing factors and conditions, and the impingements that are indicated in the coccyx and lumbar area - that have become rather disturbing in the present - prevent the eliminations and proper absorptions in the body. Hence those conditions that we find as accumulations in the lower limbs, especially in the knee and about same.
3. These are the EFFECTS of inflammation to the mucous membranes. And the ATTEMPT of the body to supply the fluids from the system as warriors against infection, brings the swelling and the condition as of water around the knee joint or cap there. Thus stiffness is produced, and disturbances in other portions of the body.
4. For this immediate condition, as we find, it would be well to paint same with a solution of three parts Laudanum to one part Aconite; and THEN to apply the Epsom Salts saturated Packs on same.
5. Also apply the Epsom Salts Packs across the LUMBAR and sacral area.
6. We would take a high enema.
7. Then, following same, we would have a GENERAL eliminating activity such as would be from the use of Fletcher's Castoria as it is prepared; save we would change it in this manner: From a large size bottle of Fletcher's Castoria (that is, eighteen hundred drops) we would empty a teaspoonful, and add in its place a teaspoonful of Syrup of Senna. Then shake this thoroughly together before the dose is taken, which would be a teaspoonful every two hours until there is FULL, COMPLETE relaxation throughout the system.
8. To be sure, it is best to rest during this whole time.
9. We would then begin again with the manipulations to adjust conditions in the coccyx, in the sacral and throughout the whole of the system. These preferably would be made OSTEOPATHICALLY, so that the coordinations of other CENTERS along the spine are in conformity with those in the locomotory centers.
10. Such treatments would be given two or three times a week, until these conditions are GENERALLY aided; that is, for three to four weeks, and then leave off a week. Then begin again with two treatments a week for another two or three weeks.
11. As to the matter of the diet, adhere rather to a citrus fruit or fresh fruit and vegetable diet; at least until the whole condition in the extremities has been almost entirely eliminated - then we may find that gradually there may be more and more of a NORMAL diet.
12. (Q) What can I do to stop my hair from falling out?
    (A) The change in the diets to the citrus fruits or fresh fruits and vegetables should make a great deal of difference. But we would use crude oil as the shampoo, cleansing same with a twenty percent solution of GRAIN alcohol (that is, cut the oil from the hair with a solution of twenty parts water to one part pure GRAIN alcohol); and afterwards massage the scalp with White Vaseline. This will prevent the falling out, will cleanse the hair and - in fact - make the GROWTH stronger, better, and near normal color.
13. (Q) Any other suggestions for the body at this time?
    (A) Do that in the present. Be consistent with it, and we will find it will NOT be necessary to apply the solution to the knee (that is, the painting, followed by the packs) more than two, three or four times. But be sure that the Epsom Salts Packs are ALSO applied to the lumbar and lower dorsal area, and the sacral area. And take the Castoria as indicated to clear the poisons from the system, so that this absorption may be set up.
The Epsom Salts Packs should be a near saturated solution; not too hot, but as hot as the body can stand; both on the knee and on the other portion.
Then begin with the adjustments and the osteopathic treatments as indicated.
14. We are through with this reading.

(GD's notes: See letter [which was enclosed] with directions to osteopath.
It may be necessary for you to get a prescription for the Laudanum Aconite solution. If so, we would refer you to Dr. LeRoy Coombs, 454 Ft. Washington Ave., N.Y.C. Take reading to him so he can see how it is to be prepared.
See directions [which were enclosed] for Epsom Salts Packs.)

BACKGROUND

2. 6/22/35 She submitted questions, in re water on left knee - swelling - falling hair, etc. "Is a reliable chiropractor just as well as an osteopath?"
