5/24/33 EC's letter to Mrs. [
757]: "We have yours of the
18th. I appreciate your sending the Active membership
application, and certainly trust you will gain much from
the information that may be sent from time to time in the
Bulletin. Should you find any reference made to specific
conditions that you would like to have detailed information
concerning, know that we will be very glad to furnish any
data that we may have on hand regarding such.
Now, I hope I can give the proper interpretation as to your
diet, with as little confusion as possible.
In the first place, I believe this diet suggested is only an
outline for you to follow, and you may alter it to meet your
own needs and tastes.
As to the breakfast, I do not think the list given precludes
the taking of coffee, provided it is fresh; for our
information tells us that fresh coffee is a food. However,
do not use milk or cream in coffee, as it is hard on the
digestion. It was suggested that you use a cereal drink, and
the Sanka or George Washington coffee comes under that head.
I think it would be very well, if more convenient, for you
to transpose the cooked vegetables to the noon meal and have
your salad in the evenings. With the salad, of course, milk,
egg or fruit may be taken - stewed fruits, or something of
that nature. Tomato juice, of course, prepared without a
preservative, is one of the very best things that anyone can
take, for it has more of the proper combination of vitamins
than most anything that may be used. With this meal there
might also be taken any of the milk preparations.
I assure you that we will be more than glad to hear from you
every few weeks, to know just how you progress. It is our
sincere desire to be of help.
On the 18th I was in New York for a meeting. There were over
a hundred guests present at a dinner given in my honor. It
was quite gratifying to me to see such a goodly number of
people, in such a large city, people in all walks of life -
scarcely any walk that wasn't represented in some manner,
directly or indirectly; doctors, lawyers, bankers, ministers
- everything! And all were very loud in praise of not only
the health benefits received through these sources, but aid
mentally and spiritually as well. No doubt there will be
some report of this meeting in our next Bulletin which, of
course, you receive..."
7/13/33 Mrs. [
757]'s letter to EC: "I took the treatments,
and observed the diet carefully as directed in the reading
of May 13th. All during the treatments I was quite ill and
for about a week after. But since then there has been some
improvement. Only a little to be sure. But I do feel
encouraged and very thankful. I don't seem to be quite so
nervous, I sleep a little better, and the pains in the head
are less severe. The whole of the condition eases up. Then
returns again. But I feel that some progress is being made.
I was going to take the courses over again, but decided I had
better ask for another reading to see if that would be the
proper thing to do. And if the diet was correct. I trust I
will not be imposing on your good nature to ask for another
reading.
Your letters have been so kindly and encouraging. The
bulletin so interesting, that I feel I have made contact
with laws too tremendous for words to express. Surely there
must be a world of information in the many readings you have
given. I am wondering if it would be impertinent to ask what
the carbon ASH is and what it is made from and how. As Mr.
[...] [my husband] is a Pharmacist and is naturally
interested to know, providing of course that it is not a
secret formula. I would also like to have a report of the
Congress as per the notice in the bulletin and am enclosing
$2.00, one for the report and one as a contribution to the
work. Now as to the reading. I would like to ask a few
questions.
1. I followed the suggestions of the last reading carefully,
and think there is some improvement; was the diet correct?
2. What are the conditions in the body now; what
improvement?
3. Should I take the courses over again or is a change
suggested?
4. Should I refrain from sugar only during treatment or at
all times?
I will be at my home, ..., Ave., as usual until 9 a.m.
Pacific Time."

7/19/33 EC's letter to Mrs. [
757]: " We were indeed very
glad to have yours of the 13th. I certainly hope the
information we forwarded to you proves to be most
satisfactory in every way. I'm glad to know that you are
feeling somewhat improved. From the reading, and also from
your letter, I am of the opinion that the next round of
treatments should find you a great deal better. So, I hope
this will be your experience.
Thank you very much for the kindly report on the Bulletin,
and the impressions you gain from your contact with the Work.
To be sure, these are the most gratifying experiences for all
here who are engaged in trying to be of a service to our
fellow man. We realize that we, even yet, know very little
about the information we are receiving through these
channels. We are not spiritualists, as I'm sure you have
gathered, in the ordinary sense of the term - at least; yet
we know that the information must come from some source
outside of ourselves, or that something within ourselves
which may contact a force without ourselves. What these
forces or sources are is what the research workers are
attempting to discover, in gathering data and making reports
through our little Bulletin and all channels that may be of
the greatest help or interest to our friends and members.
The amount of information contained in the thousands of
readings we have on hand is possibly incalculable. There is
something about almost any subject one might mention. The
very fact that a group of eighteen to twenty individuals,
from all walks of life, meet every week and have done so for
nearly two years, having readings on some particular phase of
the philosophy (or the manner of the conduct of life), and
find the work more and more interesting at each meeting,
bespeaks either a great deal for the information or very
little for the individuals. And, to be sure this is only
one phase of the type of information that may be gotten.
[[
262] series]
The carbon ash, Mrs. [
757], is made according to directions
given in a reading for certain types of disorder in the
physical body. It is merely the ash of carbon, but prepared
in a specific or definite manner. [See 165 series of
extracts in 2/57 Selections.] More than a year of research
was required to perfect the manner in which this has to be
burned in order to maintain a pathological reaction that has
been found by those for whom it was given internally. Of
course, not large when we consider many of the things that
have been distributed through the drug stores throughout the
country, but there are quite a number of people who feel that
the ash has been instrumental in bringing relief, staying off
and actually curing some conditions that have been pronounced
incurable by the profession.
We certainly appreciate your contribution to the Bulletin,
and also your request for a copy of the compiled Congress
data. It may be a few weeks yet before we can have this
stenciled and mimeographed, as we are waiting on a sufficient
number of requests to justify the expense; but we hope those
who have already ordered will bear with us while we are
waiting on some of the other members who are a little slower
in responding.
Hoping and trusting that we may be of a service to you, that
you will let us hear from you from time to time, I am, with
all good wishes..."
7/28/33 Letter from Mrs. [
757] to EC: "Your letter of July
19th received. Thank you very much for the information it
contained. I am sure all of the information obtained is of
incalculable value and I wish I were in closer touch with
its many phases. For years I have been interested in
Psychological, Philosophical and sub-conscious law and have
read many books on these subjects.
I noticed in the last membership blank that was sent me,
that this work is separated in groups, and while not able
to be directly active, I would like to be in touch with
the Scientific study group. Psychic, Philosophic and
Psychologic. I would also like some information on a Life
Reading. [
10/29/34 She requested Life Reading for herself &
husband - See
757-8 & 909-1.] Is it necessary to prepare
some questions. If so just what should they pertain to?
I am enclosing a check for $10 for July 17th Reading [757-4].
I was more than pleased with its contents. Thank you very
much for same. I seem to be improving a little right along.
Words can not tell you how it feels to have hope of relief
from constant pain.
Again I thank you and may many good things come to you and
yours and your associates."
8/08/33 She submitted questions for a Ck. Physical, but EC
did not receive it until after his letter of
8/09/33 had
been sent.
8/09/33 EC's letter to Mrs. [
757]: "We have yours of the
28th, with enclosure, for which we thank you.
I'm glad indeed to know that you have hopes of relief and
are feeling some better from day to day.
I hope you will find our data more and more worth while.
The little Bulletin is very well spoken of, from almost
every quarter.
Of course, the groups are just gradually being formed. It
is not our desire, nor is it our purpose, to make any big
show or an enormous drive to interest great numbers. For, we
feel that it should be a gradual growth - and should be more
often spoken of by the individuals who have gotten aid,
physical, mental or spiritual, from the information that has
been presented to them, rather than our trying to broadcast.
For, after all, it is an individual thing. We will be glad
to put you in touch with some of the groups, as they get to
work. The groups are together, but they are only preparing
themselves for the psychological and philosophical studies.
The enormous amount of data we have on hand requires, of
course, the work of individuals all the time to classify it,
being presented as it is in just a little here and there in
different readings. And it takes money and time to do this.
It has only been in the last year or so that this has even
been attempted in any scientific or systematic manner, but we
hope to send out to our membership that which we have found
helpful.
Regarding the Life Readings, we are sending some data on the
subject under separate cover. This type of reading, we are
finding,is proving more and more interesting to individuals -
and truly worth while. Sometimes we find that there is room
at the end of a Life Reading for several questions, and then
again it may end without a single question being asked. Some
have found it worth while to get check Life Readings,
covering certain appearances presented that bear directly in
the present; and answering questions that were not asked in
the first reading. For, of course, the Life Readings present
reincarnation - and astrological influences, from quite a
different angle from that ordinarily presented. I hope you
will find this data of interest. That necessary for
obtaining a Life Reading is: Your full name given at birth;
the month, day and year of birth, with the exact hour if
possible; and the PLACE of birth - as detailed as possible.
Appreciating your letter, and hoping to hear from you again
soon."
