BACKGROUND
See
759-11 on
4/05/35 for tonsillitis, and subsequent Reports.
7/28/36 Mr. [
257] submitted questions, saying: "Just a
hurried line. [
903] and the boys ([
759]-[
773]) just arrived;
[
759] had a very bad accident. Dr. met the boat. I've had
him x-rayed and wish you would ck. him when you can... [
759]
is not in very much pain but is heavily bandaged and carries
his arm in a sling... Judge, no doctor or nurse - 350 people
aboard. He fell five and one-half feet out of upper berth.
I'm worried about him very much. Will write later."
REPORTS
8/04/36 Father's ltr.: "[
759] has a very bad shoulder and his
face is terribly bruised without breaking the skin. The
swelling was greater yesterday than at any time since the
accident occurred. It seems his whole face is twice as
narrow as it ever was because of the way it is swollen. I
have not written the shipping company yet waiting for final
results of his injuries. We have the reading and [
903] feels
very much reassured. I will write you more later on."
8/06/36 EC's ltr.: "Am sure there is some special reason for
the information suggesting that you take [
759] to an
osteopath after ten days - would seem the natural thing to
have it at once, but I certainly would not overlook this -
have Dr. Dobbins to go over him very carefully, [
257] - don't
neglect that or put it off too long."
8/18/36 Father's ltr.: "I am very pleased to tell you that
[
759] feels much better and his face is commencing to take
shape again, as his face looked terrible."
11/23/36 See
