8/26/40 Ltr. to EC from Mrs. [
760]:
My dear Edgar:-
"For past two days have felt better but to-night feel
terrible again. Took an Osteopathic treatment this
afternoon, my oil pack to-night and had gone to bed, but
couldn't go to sleep, so decided would get up and write so
[
2704] could mail it in the A.M. for me and ask you when you
get a chance to please check me, and see if there is any
thing else I can do to get rid of this misery through my left
side. In addition to all of the rest of my treatment, for
the past week have been taking 1/2 teaspoon Glyco-Thymoline
before each meal, and have gotten rid of the soreness through
the colon & bowels but it hurts me to lay down & can hardly
get up when I am down, and am awful tired feeling if I try to
breath deep. This afternoon Dr. Beard said my pulse was 62 -
was up to 72 a while. She says she never got hold of a
condition so stubborn, and seemed anxious for another
reading. I AM SO AFRAID IT IS GALL STONES! I know I can
never stand an operation the way my heart feels. If it is
just a catarrhal condition or any thing, persistent treatment
of any kind can help. I am alright, just so I don't have to
be operated on.
"I have such a full, tight feeling right around the point of
my ribs. The Glyco-Thymoline has helped to get rid of a lot
of gas - don't have near so much... I go to Dr. Beard for
one hour at 1:30 P.M. on Mondays and Fridays. Am home all
other times."
