9/10/40 "You just know what a relief to my mind the rdg. was,
in saying there were no stones, for I felt sure there must
be, from the constant pain. I have suffered so long and I
was almost afraid to ask for a ck. rdg. I have suffered
terribly. Sitting down I couldn't pull the baby [
2015] up
on my lap at times and was sometimes a half hour getting laid
down at night. Don't know why I should get in this fix, when
I have tried so hard to keep well, but guess it is just
because I have had such a long, hard pull, have gone from one
thing to another, was bound at times, unconsciously, to
neglect myself. I do feel some better; if I could just get
rid of this incessant accumulation of gas maybe the pounding
in my head would cease and my heart would stop pounding. The
soreness through the colon is better, but there is a heavy,
dull soreness, with extreme pains at times, a little above
the pit of my stomach, and the soreness through the gall duct
area seems about the same. Don't know why I don't get rid
of it with all my doctoring. Maybe it will leave me all at
once. My appetite is good, if I could just eat. One day
I will feel fair, the next I am down and out. Weigh 142 lbs.
[Mrs. [
760] was about 6 ft. tall]. If I was just well I
wouldn't care if it was just 42. This war has almost made a
fit subject for the asylum out of me. I don't read the
papers nor listen to any more of the news than I have to, but
I do want to get well and live, whatever comes, to help, at
least, the ones I love... [

an active, useful life for nine years longer, enjoying her
two grandchildren [

7/01/49 at 74 yrs. of age.] Thank you many times for the
rdg., don't know what I would do without you. Just wish I
was able to do the things financially I most want to do -
such as finishing the vault for you."
