3/04/35 EC's letter: Thanks very much for yours of the 20th
certainly am glad to know that no one was hurt in the
accident, we are always disliking to see such reports where
it is told one to look out for such accidents or to see
forebodings of any kind, such things may be convincing to
people at times, but helpful things are much better, am
glad for you that you were able to get the transfer to the
department that is nearer in line with your training and am
sure it will make things very much better for you, and am
sure you will be much better satisfied with your work.
Will be looking to hear from you from time to time [GD's
note: Mrs. [
771] had not sent any money because she was down
and out. Naturally EC expected her to contribute something
when she got established. However, her next ltr. was still
asking for help, without a word from her in the meantime.]
and know if we can be of help at any time you are to let us
know.
Take care of your self, know you are being given an
Opportunity for some real service in the Lords vinyard, and
you will want to measure up, that will make life all the more
worthwhile.
With kindest regard, Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
4/06/36 "Of course I know you get good money for what you do
and have to have it to carry on, but I am in the depths of
despair. You helped me before so I am asking you to help me
again. Tell me what to do to make a living, who to contact,
etc. [
580] is still working at the job you told her about,
so I have faith, so why not write you. I came to Miami,
Fla., rented a house and took roomers... I have an empty
house and don't know how I am going to make a go. I have
written the Methodist Orphanage for a job, or where can I get
a job? I am broke - I need help."
4/10/36 EC's letter (from New York):
Dear [
771]:
Yours of 6th forwarded me here, owing to the previous
appointments impossible to get any thing just now, will soon
as possible, please write me again at the Beach as will be
there in the next two weeks. Sorry things have broken so
badly for you, and that you will have encouraging news from
[
580]. It is late for the season in Fla. I know now would
advise you writing Miss Nellie Holt, 1656 Newton St.,
Washington, D.C. as she is leaving for Fla. real soon and
as she is trying to make a location you might be able to work
something out for yourself with her. Also if the conditions
are so low, why not appeal direct to Mrs. Roosevelt. She
will not turn you down and will make arrangements to have
something done.
Will write you again soon as can but let me hear again. Will
try the reading soon as can have the opportunity.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
