1/31/35 Letter requesting Check Physical for wife, Mrs.
[
755]:
"...Now as to my Life reading: I have read it several times,
but due to my wife traveling to N.Y. daily, I have not
attempted to look for a position up to the present time.
"You suggested helping me if I did not quite understand the
reading. Probably that would assist me greatly in digesting
the reading somewhat. As I summarize it, it states as
follows: As indicated, seek that which deals with individual
activities as related to the general public [776-1, Par. 21].
I have for years been in public life as an elective or
appointive official, up to January 1, 1935. I have applied
for the appointment of Postmaster here but this seems
impossible as I am not of the proper political faith.
However, an examination was held and I applied.
"I was formerly a Supervisor of this Township and was
considering applying for the nomination again this coming
fall. I do not know whether I can get it or if I did get it,
whether I could be elected again. This has been in my mind
for some time and is still being considered. Both of these
pay a salary sufficient to live upon.
"Then you say 'or as to law and order.' [
766-1, Par. 21]
Although I have not tried, I wondered if I could get located
with the State Troopers, although this position might take me
over parts of the state away from home, not to my liking, but
that again seems improbable.
"Continuing: 'or in those special capacities either for
government or for corporations.' [776-1, Par. 21] Whether
this refers to the law and order again or other positions
such as above stated (post office) I do not know, but I have
considered going into one of my old business lines again
although that business is not prosperous at present
(embroidery).
"You finish by saying 'or bodyguard in such relations.'
That is something I have not considered up to the present
time.
"Now if you can help me further in enlightening me I would
appreciate it greatly; if necessary, a Check reading to clear
up this reading also..."

776-2.
