3/16/35 Letter from [
805]: "It is not through any lack of
appreciation of your help that I have not reported to you
sooner, but just that I have not had the time to write. As
the treatments you suggested have taken all the afternoons,
and I have a business to run, I have been very busy.
"When I received your reading, the treatment seemed so
difficult that I scarcely knew how I could find the time
to go thru with it. However, I had made up my mind to follow
what ever you prescribed for me, and after working on the
problem for a couple of days, it all worked itself out quite
simply. I found a good nurse to give me the hot castor oil
packs, and I called up Dr. Coombs, as you suggested, for the
massage and light treatments. As he lives ten miles from
me, I had to arrange to have him come to me, and I had to get
a violet ray machine in my home.
"For five weeks, I had the massage and light treatment three
times a week. For four weeks I had the hot packs six days a
week for four hours. You had told me I might only need the
packs for a few days, but I made up my mind I would take them
as long as possible in order to do everything possible to
effect a cure. I stopped the packs last week, and have now
cut the massage and light treatments to one a week, which is
all I believe I now need. They are so strenuous, that they
take more out of me than I can stand. In the meantime, I
neglected to say that on the day I received your reading, I
went on a strictly alkaline diet which I am still adhering
to conscientiously, and I believe it has done wonders for me.
As I do not keep house, I have had to have all my lunches
and dinners sent in from a place where they cook for
invalids, but the results are worth the trouble.
"Now I am feeling like a different person. I no longer have
pain in my side when I walk, and in the last two weeks I have
been almost free from intestinal gas and indigestion. My
nerves, as a result, are much better, also, and I sleep well,
just as I always did in the past. Of course, I have lost
more flesh on account of eating no fattening food. I can
take cream but milk upsets my stomach.
"As soon as you come to New York, will you make an
appointment, so that you can give me a re-check reading, as I
am most anxious to learn the actual condition after these
treatments. My bowels are not regular and I am still taking
the enemas with glyco-thymoline, as I find it most necessary
to eliminate properly. I want to get back to normal, when I
never took anything of the kind. Also, I am still quite
puffed up over my stomach and bowels, especially after
eating, and I want to learn the cause and remedy for this.
As I feel so much better, I can wait until I see you for a
reading, if, as you said in your letter, you are coming
fairly soon. Besides, I should like to be present when you
read, as I am most interested in psychic phenomena of any
kind.
"I like Dr. Coombs immensely, but of course, as I have had
so many varieties of treatment, I cannot tell whether the
massage has been especially helpful or not. I have taken, in
the past, a great many osteopathic treatments, and thoroughly
believe in it. The only difficulty with it is the fact that
you really have to keep on taking it constantly to keep up
the benefit derived, which, of course, no one can do, unless,
perchance, they have nothing to do and a large income!
"It isn't possible to express in words my thanks for what I
know you have done for me, but every day I thank God that I
was sent to you, and I do hope to have an opportunity soon
to tell you how grateful I am. In the meantime, I am singing
your praises to everyone, and I wish you would send me some
of those pamphlets that tell about yourself and how you came
to take up this work. I want to give them to friends who are
interested.
"Assuring you of my deepest appreciation..."
