6/29/37 Letter:
"I followed the directions immediately after receiving the
telephone call last Thursday afternoon, and almost
immediately received relief from the acute pains in the head
and lesser pains in the body which had been driving me almost
goofy. I had begun to think that I might die in a day or two,
as the whole body seemed to be collapsing, and the pains were
so severe that I was beginning to wish that I would.
"Am now back almost to normal. Thank you very much for your
kindness in helping me out. I had suffered a chill the
evening before, a temperature 4 or more degrees above normal,
accompanied by pains and aches all through the limbs and in
the head, and thought that I had an acute attack of the
grippe or influenza. Was considerably surprised to be told
that food poisoning was causing the trouble.
"In your letter you asked about the teeth. The information
given concerning the teeth was not sufficiently comprehensive
and definite to be of especial help, but the dentist thinks
he can fix them up all right. He went over them again
yesterday and is quite certain that the difficulty was due to
the gums, possibly just a trifle pyorrhea. In any event, it
appears that the trouble is on the outside of the two teeth,
and not inside them as I had supposed, and I think we will
get them fixed up all right.
"Presume this is your big week, and I expect that you all are
100 percent busy, and maybe 125 percent. Hope that you have
a successful convention, and with best wishes."
