Lydia J. Schrader Gray, from which the following is taken:
Let's study Case [
845]:
There was a definite attraction at first sight from a
previous incarnation. After their first meeting the girl
went home and said to her sister: "I've met the man I'm
going to marry." He also responded to their association of
centuries ago, and in three weeks they were engaged, though
they were not married until two years later. Then followed
years of disillusionment for her. He drank and gambled away
his weekly salary. She tried in every way to aid him and
this went on for fifteen years - until she was ill in body,
mind and soul. At this period she had a reading. Let me
quote from it:
"You are meeting self - for each soul must meet itself and
its activities in the earth. As has been given - all of the
material sojourns have their effect upon the urges, latent
and manifested in the present experience."
Her subconscious memory awakened the moment she met him and
through long suffering and sorrow she paid a debt which
stemmed from a Grecian incarnation. In that period, she went
from Greece to Arabia and met a great spiritual teacher
there. She accepted his teachings but later was influenced
by the same entity (who was her husband in this life) to
reject those spiritual truths. Her own will was not strong
enough at that time. She allowed herself to be influenced by
another - and the entity lost in spiritual growth in that
earth sojourn or experience. She lost through the inability
to choose between good and evil. Lost, because she did not
exercise her will - for as the readings have given to many
seeking souls, "The will is the developing factor of man.
The will is the factor of the mind in man which must be
exercised." [
3744]
So today the conflicts within her own soul - her doubts and
fears stem from that Grecian incarnation. She was indeed
meeting that which she had builded - and to quote directly
again from her reading: "But remember, no urges, latent or
present can effect you, if you will only exercise your will,
the gift of your Creator."
She asked this question [845-4]:
Q. "Would a separation be of help?
A. "This must be a choice within self though self's own
development is in jeopardy...
"But if there rises within self, doubts and fears, and an
inclination to look back, to think and worry - then do not
separate, the end is not yet."
I believe that that advice would be helpful to any soul
facing the same problem. That after listening to the voice
within - to our conscience, which is the mind of the soul -
and our conscience is clear - then and then only should a
separation take place.
She asked this question:
Q. "Am I being someone's strength?" (For she was the bread
winner all of their married life.)
A. "A strength to his development, and the realization may
come to him - after the separation.
"But remember, you are meeting self. In whatever choice is
made face the issues in your own life."
Then a warning: "Loneliness is destructive - yet in Him you
may find companionship."
Here then through the meeting of the entity who in that
Grecian period caused her to leave the spiritual path - here
again they met, giving her the opportunity for soul growth
through mental and spiritual suffering. That karmic debt is
paid as far as her life is concerned. She is a happy soul,
aiding many who contact her. She is meeting loneliness
through service.
