TEXT

1. EC: Yes.
2. As we find, while there is a great deal to be desired in the activities of the system to make for the abilities of the body to use itself the better, there are great improvements from those as we have seen here before.
3. And it is necessary for those activities that tend to cleanse the system from poisons by the destroying of tissue; also it has made for such conditions where the assimilating system is not working properly.
4. Hence we would take very small quantities often during the day of Beef Juice; just sips, you see.
5. Also we would have quite often the broiled liver - not too done; only broiled sufficient so that it may be eaten by the body.
6. We find that the occasional baths as from RESTING in Pine Oil Waters would be STRENGTHENING. Have these a little above body-temperature, of course; and with the rubdowns of the hydrotherapy treatments afterwards. These should strengthen the body.
7. Also we would have the adjustments occasionally for the coordinating of the assimilating system.
8. Keep away from drinks that are distilled; save light or very heavy wines. CARBONATED drinks may be taken, especially Coca-Cola or those of such derivatives. These will aid especially in purifying the activity and coordinating same through the kidneys and the eliminating system.
9. Unless other conditions arise that are not indicated, we do not find the necessity of raising the temperature again in the body for the destruction of bacilli in the system.
10. Rather, now, there should be the precautions that - owing to the weakened conditions - the body is built up normally; not one portion at the expense of another; though if the hydrotherapy treatments are given as suggested once or twice a week, of the nature as indicated, we should not have a settling in any one portion at the expense of another.
11. In the present we would not have the Steam Baths, though later we will find that the activity of the Fume Baths will be beneficial - but not for some weeks yet.
12. Have the manipulations once or twice a week as the occasions arise.
13. The diet is the main thing.
14. Keep the feet dry. Keep out of night air or drafts too much. Keep away from those things that have alcoholic content, EXCEPT as a meal or as a stimulation in the late afternoon through the Red Wines or Light Wines - but NOT as a drink, rather as a food!
15. Do that. Ready for questions.
16. (Q) Have the fever treatments completely killed the germs causing the trouble?
    (A) As has been indicated.
17. (Q) What should be taken to remove the dross and burned tissue from the body to prevent settling?
    (A) As has been indicated.
18. (Q) Should any local applications be taken, and over what areas?
    (A) No local applications other than as indicated in the mechanical adjustments for the stimulations of portions of the system; for, as indicated, we do not want one area stimulated to the detriment of another.
Do as given. We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

REPORTS

1. 4/16/38 Mr. [341]'s letter: "[849] is still having some pain... He needs a routine. Also it would be very good for him to have a complete outline diet. The doctors suggested local diathermy treatments through hips and it laid him up for past two days, very severe pains. Naturally, he is afraid of the condition settling."
2. 4/25/38 "[849] is still down flat of his back but a little better. He is in pretty good spirits considering the siege he has gone through."
3. 5/09/38 "[849] is still laid up, unable to get around. He isn't following the readings, or much of anything else. The doctor is giving him injections of some sort to ease pain. Quite a mess. [See GD's note below, Par. R4.] He is unusually cheerful about it. I would like to get him to the beach in June if he is well enough to get around. The packs, air and water would do a lot for him, I expect."
4. GD's note: We heard that when [849] came out of the hospital, after having taken seventeen fever treatments for his so-called "arthritic" knee, he was a complete wreck. He collapsed and was in a state of both nervous and physical exhaustion. The doctors gave him only a short time to live. He gradually turned again to the Edgar Cayce readings for help and began to build back.
5. 6/04/38 Mr. [341] submitted questions:
You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [849] who is at ..., Long Island, New York.
Considering the seeming failure of all treatments given the body to bring relief and recovery, the mental attitude and the present physical condition you will please give an analysis of the present condition with detail suggestions for treatment, including complete diet.
   Answer questions.
What causes the recurring pains in the hips?
What causes the muscular weakness and quivering?
What climate or place would you advise for the body to aid recovery. As soon as he can move would it be wise to come to Virginia Beach or go to Reilly's for treatments.
   Complete treatment.
Complete outline of diet, by meals.
6. 6/04/38 See 849-27.
