6/06/38 (Monday Afternoon) Ltr. from [
849] to HLC:
Dear Hugh Lynn:
The reading arrived this morning and [
1102] and I feel much
more cheerful after reading it. Although my condition is,
as you said in the wire, serious, I was heartened to find
nothing in the reading which is impossible and impractical
to carry out at this time. We had a little trouble finding
the Codiron but have already found a drugstore which knows
about it and had ordered it for us.
At the present time the question of going to the beach is
not for me to decide. I am much too sick to go any place
and have been bedridden ever since Memorial Day when I
called you and told you about the spasms. However, as soon
as the treatments have given me back as much of my strength
as I had before the fever burned it up, I will be more than
pleased to accept the gracious offer, and give my long
suffering wife a chance to rest up.
We are ready to begin the treatments, and have already
started the Atomidine, which we happened to have on hand.
We are puzzled by a few things in the reading though, and I
think perhaps you can explain them, especially as you say
there have been similar treatments outlined for others.
If you will look on Page 3 [849-27, Par. 24] of the carbon
copy you will find that after describing the Epsom Salts bath
he says, "and throughout the applications there must be
massage kept." Does it mean that a massage must be given
after each bath or does it mean that massage must be
periodically given all the time. I have not been having
massage since this last trouble, and considering the present
condition of my muscles I do not think massage would be very
practical. However, I just want you to check this point and
clear it up for me.
Another question which arose is whether the diet given in
the reading is supposed to be all the food that I take, or
whether other foods are to supplement the foods given as
bases of the meals.
Also, can you tell us what cereal is referred to as "the
whole cereal...wheat; this crushed, and cooked very
thoroughly." Also, we are a little vague as to what is
meant by dry Milk, and [
1102] has no idea of how to cook a
chicken so that I can eat the bones. I imagine that you
folks are familiar with all of these things, and can explain
them.
If you are coming up it will be time enough when you arrive.
I feel much better about the whole situation now and I assure
you that we will follow this reading to it minutest detail.
Give my thanks and love to your Mother and Dad. I hope the
reading will enable me to visit them before the summer is
over. [
