7/17/31 GD's letter to [
851]:
Mrs. [
851],
..., N.C.
Dear Mrs. [
851]:-
Do you remember that sentence [851-1, Par. 12-A] in your
reading, where it said, "There have been those whom we have
RECENTLY been in touch with, who would be ones to associate
with, or GOOD ones to associate with. These might be
interested in the same character of work"?
At the time, we couldn't imagine who it meant. However,
since that time the lady [See
5696-1 and
5696-2] - whom I am
sure is the one referred to - has had another reading, and it
advises her to locate near Washington, "associated WITH one
caring for those that are independent in a FINANCIAL manner,
but dependent UPON those who may aid, look after, or care for
the needs of such. Not the PHYSICALLY sick so much as those
alone, not desiring to be dependent upon the care of others,
other than that contributed to or paid for".
Do you see how perfectly it fits in with your reading? I am
quite sure this is the one referred to. I am enclosing a
copy of the letter I am sending to her, and I have asked that
she get in touch with you right away. I think you two should
get together and talk things over. Miss [
5696] has been
manager and owner of a tea room in ..., Va. for a number of
years, but is now desirous of making a change.
I certainly hope that you are following your reading and are
much on the improve. Please give our love to Mrs. Harrell,
and all of you come to see us when you can.
Sincerely,
Gladys Davis, Secretary to Mr. Cayce.
7/31/31 [
851]'s letter to GD:
Washington, D.C.
Dear Miss Davis:-
I thank you and Mr. Cayce for your interest in writing me in
regard to a reading he gave a Miss [
5696] of ..., Va., which
he felt might be of mutual interest to both Miss [
5696] and
myself. Mr. Cayce advised her to get in touch with me.
However, I have not heard from her. I am sure I am already
with the person I should have as my business associate - yet,
I must tell you that I have made a miserable blunder. At the
start Mr. Cayce advised me to get a house on the suburbs or
OUT from Washington, but instead I wanted to get into
something first that would bring quick returns from my money,
so bought out a place IN Washington, beginning a rooming
business - not the kind I asked Mr. Cayce about, but a paying
guest business. I saw from the first that I had made a
mistake. The person I bought from misrepresented everything
- I should have investigated more closely. It was my fault -
I have already lost right much money, and feared I would lose
more. However, I have a Real Estate agent reselling the
place for me and altho I am selling it at a loss, I'm glad to
be able to sell at all - the agent has found a buyer. I hope
they don't back from the bargain before we get them "signed
off."
At this time rooms, hotel rooms and all sorts of rooms can be
procured for almost "a song", so I'm afraid to venture any
more right away even if I get a reasonable amount of my money
back.
I came to Washington next day after I was at Va. Beach. I
haven't seen my daughter, Mrs. [
264], since coming to
Washington.
Again thanking you for your interest in me. Remember me most
kindly to Mr. and Mrs. Cayce.
With all good wishes -
Most sincerely, [
851]
P.S. My daughter, Mrs. [
264], does not know that I bought
out this business, so of course she doesn't know that I'm
selling it - I was afraid this blunder of mine might give her
trouble. However, I'll pull out.
12/15/34 Daughter, Mrs. [
264]'s letter: "Mother has come
back and is living with my sister, Mrs. [
678], again."
