This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 W. 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of October, 1925, in accordance with request made by self, Mr. [900].

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900], of ..., New York City, N.Y., and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lessons to be gained from each of these, as I read same to you, and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [900]. This we have had here before. The dreams, as we find that come to the body, are as the lessons as may be gained in the manner as has been given. Ready for dream.
3. (Q) Monday Morning, Sept. 21, at home in Deal. I saw my grandmother (now deceased) and my Uncle Ed [...] (now alive). He seemed to refer to his mother or to a condition existing between himself and his mother during her life time when he kissed me very affectionately and said: "I am growing tired of this." By this he seemed to mean the kiss in reference to his mother - my grandmother.
   (A) In this we find the entity entering into those of the cosmic forces as pertain to relations of the entity with those whom have and do live in the earth's plane, with that collaboration of the physical conditions that presents the lessons as may be gained by the entity from the study of the condition as is presented to the entity in this dream, for as the vision of the one growing tired of conditions as existed in their life, showing then the real unrest that lies in every human heart not having found that peace, that passeth understanding to those who know not of the manifestations of the divine forces as are phenomenized in the physical world, see? Then, the entity gains that lesson as would be applicable to self, in that the entity must gain that thorough understanding of those spiritual forces as are manifested in filial love, in the work of the entity in body-mind towards those conditions as build their manifested forces as regarding home and the surroundings of same, for with the presentation and representation of such forces, there comes this truth as is often gained by the entity: "First find the Lord and all these things shall be added unto you, see?"
4. (Q) This is the second time my grandmother has appeared to me - once in reference to my mother, now in reference to some other condition. Are these thought transference examples between my grandmother and myself and based on the same principle as thought transference with my father?
   (A) Rather that of cosmic force transference as has been explained. Then that of the spirit force co-related with cosmic forces, as is seen in the transference of thought or speech with the guide, see?
5. (Q) Explain this transference in reference to the cosmic consciousness?
   (A) Cosmic consciousness the sum total of entity's experience, acted or modified by the spiritual development, see? The spirit development, as is seen with the guide, plus the cosmic consciousness. Not one and the same, see? yet reached to that same point where they may become confused one with another,yet being of that closeness as may be presented in the condition: A week from Christmas to New Year. Many weeks from New Year to Christmas.
6. (Q) Why did my grandmother desire, if that entity did desire, to convey a thought to me?
   (A) Own cosmic consciousness in this instance, rather than of the grandmother's cosmic forces, see?
7. (Q) Tuesday Morning, Sept. 22, at home, ..., New York City, Apt. ... I was with a man who was directing the construction of railroads and paved roads. The work seemed to progress very slowly, but the man pointed out to me that it was UP GRADE WORK. He showed me an advertisement the R. R. was going to issue on their branch line running from Louisville, Ky. It was as follows: "Train runs on slow schedule but please note the entire route is UP GRADE." Then I turned to the paved road. It was nice and wide and solid - well founded. Progress through the hills was slow, but the foundation had to be sure. I saw the little mud trails through the mountains, then dirt roads, then these fine paved roads now being laid, both for rail and other travel. I saw the machines and workmen busy hard at work on construc tion and slow progress, yet actual progress being made. Ma and I went to a drug store. It seemed the store of a man who was formerly too lazy to work. Now with his mother's help he seemed to be progressing after a fashion in his store, even now he showed no great ambition. I entered, shook hands with him and wished him luck. I asked if he had Ipsab here and told him about Ipsab. He said that he had a preparation that would do the same work. He got down a bottle but had a hard time getting the cork off. He finally succeeded and it came off with a BANG! I then thought I'd better use some Ipsab on my own gums - they seemed to need it. I did and felt the blood circulate through the gums and make them feel fine. Then the drug man showed us some silverware or something. [140] and Ma looked at it and sized it up. He had more to show us. I noted he sent his mother chasing after the next thing, while he himself rested his lazy bones in the sunny window seat. His mother brought in a silver soup set or soup dishes that were covered in basket like handles. Ma and [140] sat down to try them out. I lay on the floor looking up at them - hoping the dishes or set would prove satisfactory. "Oh," said [140], "You don't want things like these with these covers. Why you can hardly get your spoon out of the plate. I felt [140] was a little too finicky but said nothing and listened to the discussion.
   (A) In this we find there are many various phases of conditions that have been weighed in the body-mind of the entity.
   In the first portion of this, in connection with rails and road beds, and slow trains and up grade, and Louisville with its junction and slow trains, we have seen this already presented to the entity in that condition related to stocks pertaining to Louisville and Nashville, see?
   In that of seeing the drug store, with the indolent man, representing that indolency as has been shown in presenting to the public that which is asked for by the entity, and the one presenting and showing some other just as good, showing how time being lost by the delay. The showing of other articles and sending for others by the indolent one to show to those whom have in the manner caused the delay to the entity in carrying out these, shows what the entity may expect to come to self through the indolency and through the delays, as is shown in presenting to the peoples, to those who need same, that which may prove beneficial to many needing such, see? for in this there would come that as has been given.
   Then, study these both well, using them to the advantage and not be balked by conditions, for this needs attention. Do that.
8. (Q) We all went to the Penn-Yale football game, where we do plan to go Oct. 17 - a game that is going to draw much interest particularly to football followers. Now this coming game has caused much discussion and wagers between us. Wanting Penn to win for my brother's sake, yet betting on Yale to win, naturally, criss cross currents seem to guide my sentiments. So at the game (in the dream) it was good to me when Yale scored a touch down or made a goal by means of a triple pass. I saw one Yale man pass the ball to a second and he in turn pass the ball to the third, thus effecting a goal. At the end of the first half, I was cheering for Penn, because Penn was ahead, yet when I looked at the score board Yale was ahead and then I was glad anyway, for I had bet on Yale. Then Penn brought her band on the field and many colors and spectacular effects came in. I turned to [140] and said teasingly: "Sure, Penn is always there with the spectacular stuff." "[900], you just watch your P's and Q's," [140] replied. "P's and Q's" I retorted, feeling the rebuke, but wanting to turn it off in a humorous channel, continued - "P's and Q's - that makes me want to swear for the first time since I started not to." Voice interrupting: "[900], DON'T SWEAR." [140] laughed at me, seeming to enjoy my coming down a peg so to speak - down to that she considered alright and good fellowship. Then I saw a man tumble down steps pretty fast. "No," I said to myself, "I won't swear." The second half of the game was called.
   (A) In this we find there presented to the entity much of that that has been developing in the mind to the present position, or since the study [studies] of the phenomena of life have become a part of the entity, and are centralized, localized, stated or given a place, a time, by the body-mind, presenting, preparing, intending, to make a certain goal or go to a certain place, see? As the ball represents to the entity that whole study of conditions, as is seen between self, between brother's position, between the betting on one, the desire really that other win, the banter that ensues, the conditions as brought up; showing then, when the entity takes its position by thought of its development, such is seen in the emblematical manner as is seen throughout, and the voice representing that upon which the entity has grown to where, with its position held and kept, may draw on those forces as will guide, guard, direct and keep in that way that brings the more perfect understanding, and through same able to keep that pace, that place, that perfect understanding, with the full well-rounded life, taking on those of the physical forces that bring the better physical understanding to the entity, taking on those mental forces that bring the full understandings to the mentality of the entity, taking on those spiritual understandings and lessons that bring the whole entity closer to that of the One ready to give a lesson with a mission, and ready to fill same.
