This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street., Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of January, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900], of Apt. ..., ... St., New York City, and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lesson to be gained from each of these, as I read same to you, and you will answer the questions I ask you regarding these.
2. EC: Yes, we have the entity, the enquiring mind, of [900], with dreams as come to the body from time to time. Ready for dreams.
3. (Q) Night of Jan. 19, or morning of January 20. I was riding on a trolley car down a hill and under elevated lines. The car reached the bottom of the hill, the elevated lines also terminated, and the car started up hill again. (EC interrupted here with 3-A. Rest not read: I noticed the car divided into partitions, and under or in each partition a button for the passenger to press, this signalling the motorman to stop the car. The partitions had different stops written on them - thus if one wanted to get off at the "Public Building," one pressed the button in the partition bearing that name, which partition was the largest. Then a smaller partition presented itself and had "Stores" written on it, and so many others that I can't now remember.)
   (A) This, as we see, refers directly to those conditions as have been viewed by the entity, wherein there was seen certain lines of utilities torn away in a certain portion of the street and city, and, as is seen by the numbers and the various compartments as are divided off in the cars, shows as to that which the entity should use, as those to be dealt in, and that which (not that that relates to the city, see?) leave off. That which relates to the transportation of the utilities, these may be, when they reach the down grade. This would begin about February 10th, see? B R T - the Interborough; all those transient utilities that are being opened; all of those - yes, there is the Manhattan - Rapid Transit; these the entity may use at the current prices, which will be reached in the lower grades, see? about the 8th to 10th, see?
4. (Q) Will there be a downward break in these stocks in February, as given - i.e. the down hill?
   (A) Beginning next week, see? the latter part of January. By the first weeks in February, they will reach their low level. Don't bother them until the low level. Too many quick breaks, too many apt to be changed, by the different administrations of conditions as exist relative to same, the bank relations as regarding the accounts of same, the city's action toward these, those relations as to be changed as regarding the fare in same, see? Well that the entity study these for this period, then when they begin with the rise, see, buy. This, as we see, along the second weeks in February, see?
5. (Q) At what price should these stocks be purchased for the larger advance?
   (A) That as the current price, about the 8th and 10th, see?
6. (Q) What other stocks are indicated in the partitions?
   (A) Those as relate to the city - individual see? - let these alone!
7. (Q) Should they be sold for the February decline - if the latter condition is still to prevail - or is that condition already here?
   (A) As given. Let these alone until the February decline is passed, for these may be changed by conditions, see, as have been given.
8. (Q) As related, as I remember it, the Voice seemed to speak in reference to some one of the partitions - maybe the large one with "Public Building or Utilities" written in, and I recollect something as follows: "[900], don't you touch it."
   (A) Let these alone, as we have given, see?
9. (Q) Then I saw a partition that seemed to indicate something else. It seemed a partition, the bell to be rung, according to that there written, by stubborn girls or some such, and I knew this referred to [136]. I saw her standing up in the car as it ran down hill.
   (A) This, as we see, brings then to the entity conditions as existent in the mind, bringing an intermingling of two conditions as existent in the mental forces, attempted to be weighed by the physical, mental mind, and the subconscious, as it were, coming to the rescue, in a manner, presenting the condition to the entity in a vision, see? intermingling same. These, then, relating to that the entity should in self understand that any stubbornness on the part of any entity brings to that entity its own reward. While the reflection comes to self from outside, first satisfy self that self's attitude is in keeping with that, as that whom the entity serves would be under the same existent conditions. Then act.
10. (Q) If this referred to happenings of the night previous, then explain what is possible to be done about this.
    (A) As given, see. Satisfy self. Then each and every condition must take its own course, see?
11. (Q) Then [3816], my sister-in-law, appeared in the car and said, looking towards the ceiling: "There is no light in this car." I reached under a table, getting way underneath, and unscrewed an electric light bulb. Climbing up, I started to screw it in the socket, but it was hard to do because this bulb had a stiff spring attached which operated against the bulb screwing into the socket. "Be careful," said [3816], "I wouldn't touch that if I were you." "I'll get this bulb alright," I said, reaching down. "It has a terrible spring - I'd let it alone," said [3816]. "I'll get it in the socket alright," I said, and did so. There was light in the car.
    (A) As is seen in this, the entity finds that, though the light may, through the application of truths known, felt, experienced by the entity, be hard to be brought into the lives and in the applicable condition for many, yet that continual persistence with that light will bring to many, to those all about; even though they be of that condition as where they are over resistant, in word, in action, in deed, this will bring light to all. Be persevering, then, in the way and manner of presenting same.
12. (Q) Is any remedy here suggested?
    (A) Perseverance.
13. (Q) How may I apply it?
    (A) By making application; for, as has been studied by the entity, "Master, why were we not able to cast this out?" "Such are only overcome through fasting and prayer." Not in either the literal sense, but that application as has been brought to the consciousness of the entity as regarding same.
14. (Q) [136] and I were in bed and my mother came in and found us quarreling. Although her attention centered upon [136], it also included me. "O," she said, "There are so many bigger things in life - why be so trivial." "But I am bleeding again, Ma," said [136]. "Well, that will stop," Ma replied.
    (A) This, as we see, brings to the entity again those physical conditions as are taking place in the MIND of the entity, physically, with those about same, and as the entity sees that counsel as given, again would there be given to the entity, heed much that has been given as concerning how entity should heed that advice from one that speaks to entity in this. Do that.
15. (Q) Here again is the same thing presented in the fashion of "Why make mountains out of mole hills," yet [136] is a problem or presents problems hard to cope with. How to cope with them is my problem.
    (A) Just as has been given, see, may be met in the way and manner as was given to THOSE, as to how THEY might be able to overcome those conditions which they were not able to, without the presence of the Master.
16. (Q) On the trolley car again, looking at the partitions. Voice, very distinctly: "SOUTHERN RAIL ROAD WILL PAY 8%."
    (A) This, as we see, again presenting to the entity those conditions as have been given as regarding this stock, and as has been given again by the lessons and experience as has been gained. Now profit in these, and use this, then, in the way and manner as will bring the greater return to the entity. This, as we see, now near that level wherein these profits may be made, being now 112 - 113, these will advance now, see, in the coming week, to 121 - 22, see? Then off again in the latter portion of the coming week, see? Then, beginning about the 8th to 10th of February, will advance near to 27 (highest point as reached, see, in many days, months, years, see?), and the dividends as we see is to be gained, and this, with this declaring of same, bringing greater advance in these, POSSIBLY (without the combinations as enter in - which may be seen later on) advancing to the 180, see?
17. (Q) Does this mean that the present rate of 7% will be raised to 8%? When?
    (A) To 8%. When? In the next annual meeting of those that declare and make such.
18. (Q) Should the stock be purchased at the present time, or should we wait for the February break?
    (A) In the way and manner as has been given, use this, for the coming week, be rid of same - by the end of the week - waiting the week, then - for those entanglements may make mince meat of many.
19. (Q) Will a worse break come in February than is now taking place?
    (A) Worse.
20. (Q) Then I saw the stock ticker and Southern Rail Road going up a point at a time, reaching the price of 135 and still going strong. (EC interrupted here. The rest not read) I noticed the adjustment 4% bonds also going up. I pushed the button marked "Public Building" and the car stopped in front of a tall building. I got out (the car had gone its course down the hill and up again) and met my mother, who had just come out of what seemed a Woolworth 5 & 10 cent store. She had a very sore foot and was sitting on a bench. "I have a sore foot too," I said, "and ought also have it treated. See how it hurts me" - I did actually twist my foot. Then I continued to talk to Ma: "Ma, we bought you 250 shares of that Southern R.R. stock and you have a nice profit in it. Now that it pays 8% we might as well hold it for you. You have a nice profit on your bonds too. I surely wish I had my bonds back. Also wish we had bought the stock.
    (A) This, as we see, is still as that condition as we have given. Use that, then, in the way and manner as has been outlined for same.
21. We are through for the present.
