This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of June, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900], of ..., Deal, N.J., and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lesson to be gained from each of these, as I read same to you, and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [900]. The dreams as we see as come to the body are of one of the various phases of presented experiences, or of conditions as are weighed or seen through the subconscious forces of the body. Ready for the dream.
3. (Q) June 25 or morning of June 26. I seemed in some classroom with a group watching a blackboard for the marking up of the opening prices for the stock market. It seemed something was out of order - some trouble or something such that I could not get quotations in the ordinary continuous manner given on a ticker - thus the improvised blackboard. We awaited the opening which, when given, indicated Patent Leather Stock, which I held too much of, opened DOWN ten points, following a tremendous rise to 1150 or 1240 per share. It had this rise and I bought it at the top price and now being split up 5 shares of new for 1 old, the stock opened at $220 - ten points down and I was distracted. I also owned some cheaper stock called "patent leather, pulverized" and this held about the same as my cost price. I went to an older man for advice on Patent Leather and he told me it was a good stock and would go higher. I remarked that it was down 10 points from the top and he replied that I bought it high, but even at that it would go much higher later on. Yes, later on, I thought - later summer or early fall possibly, but in the meantime I will be wiped out.
   (A) In this there is presented to the entity that correlation between the mental conscious mind and the subconscious mind, those of the body conscious forces as have been carried in same for the time being, as to conditions as regarding the stock market and of conditions in general, and, as is viewed and as is seen and known by the entity, the blackboard, the schoolroom, the watching of the numbering of same, is this presented, as it were, as a lesson to the entity, and for the entity's study and consideration. That is, whereas there are certain stocks - not a specific one is seen here, but as a general condition as has been viewed, and as lessons have been given to the entity from time to time - but whereas there have been those conditions in which the entity has often found that, through the flurry of the excitement of conditions, the panicky feeling has come to the entity of the inability to meet the various conditions, that there is found that, with the counsel of one as is seen in the vision, there comes the reassurance of the position as is held by the entity, both as regarding stocks and as conditions in general in the mind of the entity. Then, rather the lesson, as is seen, should be that the entity should take into consideration all the various experiences as have been exercised by the mental abilities of the entity, the lessons from the experience of the physical conditions as have existed, and also the lessons from the subconscious forces to the entity, that the entity may take advantage of conditions, rather than allowing conditions to overcome that within the mind of the entity to such an extent as to cause this panicky or unstable feeling within self; for, as is seen, while stocks show the decline, there will be as sudden the climbing up again, in the general direction, specifically in motors and in oils.
4. (Q) Mr. Straight called me for margin on my stock account. I was distracted, but clapped him on the back good-naturedly and said: "I like you anyway." We went out and watched the stock ticker together.
   (A) This, as it were, a continuation of those conditions as have been experienced by the entity, in that as is just seen regarding the leathers: That the entity finds that, rather than becoming panicky, or undetermined as to the course to pursue, that taking conditions as they exist, and meeting them one by one, they serve rather than undermine the entity's position, in mental, in physical, in spiritual, in every way of life; for to look forward to some depression, rather than to meet the needs of the day and the hour, is to forebode that which would be detrimental to the entity's best interest in every way and manner; for, as may be considered in the conditions as are seen in one who considers the elementals, and the conditions as are existent in everyday life: To become panicky, or become undermined by seeming forebodings, is to weaken one's own strength to meet the needs of the day, for well was it said: "Consider the lilies of the field, they toil not, neither do they spin, yet Solomon in all his glory [was] not arrayed like one of these." Taking thought of the morrow adds not to the stature of today. Meet those conditions as arise, for tomorrow will have its own cares. We are through for the present.

   Members New York Stock Exchange New York
   Dear Edgar:
   Enclosed please find in addition to letter written yesterday and dreams, also a clipping from this morning's N.Y. American [See Par. R2 below] which takes up just such a condition as we discussed about 1 1/2 years ago. I believe Hugh Lynn will recall my asking him this question in reply to his discussion: "What would we to-day do to Christ if He were to come in and preach?" However, Christ might well be able to adapt himself to the conditions of the day for what is the difference whether we say that stealing is wrong because it militates against the economic and social welfare of the community and is retarding to the development of the human race - what is the difference whether you thus pragmatically state the proposition, or whether you state theologically, "Thou shalt not steal." One is preaching the other the development of a line of reason, but the latter itself indicates a development of mind that preceded Christ, and that is a future development of our own forming minds. Before Father Abraham I am, but only after Jesus Christ are we. The mind of Christ is part of that change and would manifest this change in the adaptability to these changed conditions, or to put it differently, we are one in the mind of Christ, and the latter certainly does change in development as we add our own development (our own history or achieved consciousness) to this mind, even though the process of achievement is one and ever the same, as it was before the Christ development. More of this later.
   It seems [137] is trying to swallow too big a pill all at once, as am I also and in my effort to administer to others an overdose, I become considered a bad doctor - one not to be taken seriously for if the many cannot understand me it is not the manys fault, but my own foolishness that in a childish sort of way I cannot make clear to others. Why shouldn't they understand as well as I? If they are mentally better in making more friends, securing more money and more respect, what have I to show in a material way to gain this serious attention? So they think of me as ridiculous, etc., and call me enough names. The cause is twofold - both my own. First I seek to explain that which I do understand in terms not comprehensible to others and secondly I seek to explain that which I as yet do not completely understand myself in terms of words. It is evident that my work here in what is termed an unprofessional field and therefore I may not use terms to much in advance of the unprofessional field I travel in. My field is not limited as is the professional philosopher to the academic world or place of the subject, but this lack of limitation involves the indecision of those, who like myself are as unacademic, unprofessional in the philosophical world and altho that detracts from my physical recognition as a person possessing philosophical knowledge, it does bring me into contact with a wider, broader phase of life that adds fuel to the philosophical mind rather than detracts from it. If I had a professional degree and was a teacher, the world would so place me in this category and there I'd stick. Those not interested in philosophy would not be interested in my field of endeavor. But I do not want to be relegated to the dried up academic field. I do not want to assume the position of philosopher left to fight out metaphysical disputes with those who are so minded. Indeed I cannot be, for I have not the academic requirements and I believe my work has been chosen purposely by the Divine Chooser that I should not so manifest my development. Rather is it my business to bring to the every day workers closer to the Father Creator by making it more understandable and by making my knowledge USEFUL to the every day person. If I can help others to a happier, healthier, more understanding frame of mind I serve my purpose better than entering any metaphysical or theological field of specialty. I must be about my Father's business of creating in that the only way there lies open - not in the way of specializing which is man's way. I am not a philosopher, broker, rich man, poor man, theologian, etc. - but a self conscious portion of the process of creation, developing into that condition that creates with the Creator. So I must make this Being in using other's concept to identify them, for them, with that process called God. I must cover the ground a thousand times for each developing portion starting from the A B C even as I started. For had the readings told me 2 years ago that Creative Evolution lies in a process whose forms are part of a part development, and whose direction lies in making of those forms a free will, partakes with self and that I would find the inovistic [innovative?] idea expressed in Spinoza and empiristic [empirical?] idea expressed by James and Bergson I'd have dropped the whole matter like hot cakes.
   Now then, this clarifies the last reading of mind. The following dream of last night fit right in and fulfills the prediction in your reading that this would return again in more practical form. As the above indicates, I understand pretty well, I don't think it necessary to interpret yet. If you find time take it and see what is given:
   Sunday Night [900]'s
   In school and the teacher pointed to a great many symbols that stand for chemical combinations and formulas or equations. They seemed arranged on a hillside and were much as follows: H4O6P3 + PH3O5 = 2 R ETC. [All numbers are subscripts.] "I don't understand all those symbols," I said.
   Then a dog seemed to be slowly climbing up the hill and the teacher said: "Climb up slowly - not jump up." At the same time I saw a dog leaping up to make the top of a table.
   Questions
   1. As a dog learns by experience, slowly and surely become that which experience makes of him, so I may learn slowly as each experience co-relates with all experience in my memory to make me a manifestation of the sum total of the whole subconscious power. This is the evolutionary process of creation that proceeds little by little inasmuch as in the animal, in the latter as in a tree, ETC.? Correct?
   2. Consciousness grows as laboriously slowly as the acorn into an oak and by virtue of its very nature the process may evolute in no other manner. Correct?
   3. Then if I am to be part of this process for my own and Father's benefit I must be patient and persistent in my own development, in the development of others I seek to further. Correct?
   4. My first articles should then be written in a lighter vein and in less comprehensive a fashion - one not too involved. Correct?
   5. Any further advice on this?
   I saw a varied colored stadium, each tier in the stadium presenting a different color.
   Reason or voice or subconscious experience: "This is a vari-colored world, and also a world of SPECIALTY."

   P.S. [551] received his and asked me to help him in interpretation. Must admit I could help him little as I don't seem to get the connection between [137] and him. [137] hardly knows him. Do you?
2. 6/28/26 Clipping from New York American enclosed in Mr. [900]'s letter:
   LONDON WOULD WATCH CHRIST AS DANGEROUS, SAYS LLOYD GEORGE
   By Universal Service - LONDON, June 27. Former Premier Lloyd George, speaking at the Welsh Baptist Chapel there today, attacked the Conservative Government with the charge:
   "If Christ came to London, He would be watched as a dangerous character, the effect of whose doctrines and principles would be subversive of our institutions."
   The former Premier added:
   "W. T. Stead wrote a pamphlet with the title, 'IF CHRIST CAME TO CHICAGO.' I do not know that Christ would be more acceptable in London now than He would have been in Chicago then.
   "Had Christ come to London during the general strike, His utterances certainly would have been excluded from the British Gazette, and Winston Churchill would have blue-penciled the Sermon on the Mount. I believe the Home Secretary would have had him watched, and the next edition of the Gospels would have been compiled, not from recollections of the Disciples, but from notes taken by police.
   "Had Christ taken a stand with the Archbishop of Cantebury and with other leaders and churchmen for conciliation instead of force, He certainly would have been excluded from the Liberal Shadow Cabinet."
   The last dig is aimed at the Asquith Liberal group, who are fighting Lloyd George. The speech is regarded as sensational in all circles.
