This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of April, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900], of ... St., N.Y. City, and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lesson to be gained from each of these, as I read them to you, and you will answer the questions I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [900]. This we have had here before.
3. Physically, the body is experiencing some congestion in nose and nostrils, and throat, that gives some trouble. This the natural reaction from that stress and strain under which the body has labored, and is laboring, and with these conditions as have existed along the Eustachian Tubes makes, physically, the extra amount of secretions as are thrown off, or accumulated in these portions TO BE thrown off, and with the concentration of thought in self, to equalize the circulation and elimination, added with those instructions as have been given for the improvement of these conditions, these may be eliminated.
4. In the dreams, and in those presented visions in their various forms and manners, the entity is finding more and more the correlation of the various phases of the activities of the consciousnesses - the various manifestations of same - of the body, and its relation to others. Ready for dreams.
5. (Q) Night of April 8, Friday, 1927, while reading [3816]'s reading, the Voice: "Pay no attention to that!"
   (A) The inward expression to the entity of that as would be said to the body as respecting the information as being read by this body - for, as is experienced also at the time by the entity, the feeling and animation of self was as to correct such impressions as would try to be made by others on this body, [3816], under the conditions which that body is and will be laboring, see?
6. (Q) While at prayer, a light, almost white in intensity - startling in suddenness. I fought hard with the fear inhibition.
   (A) Again and again there is presented to the entity, to this body consciousness of [900], that as came to the prophets and seers of old - those manifestations that took on various phases of body in presenting to those bodies the honor as being spoken directly to - and to this entity comes in the form of light, and will the entity but hold to that condition, position, intent, purport, that inhibition of purpose in self - casting out fear with same - there will come the voice from same directly to the sensuous ears of the body - the voice as of command, and of adoration, for the intent and life of the body, see?
7. (Q) While reading the Bible, the very passage of the Master's that explains spirit going from man, as illustrated by Jonah and the whale - yet just before I had that "Presence" impression - somebody or bodies were there trying to communicate with me. Again I fought hard with fear, praying to be divested of that inhibition. Then the interview (I used to call it voice) came through, as it did all the night. But first that definite presence.
   (A) This again that state wherein the entity finds self approached by many seeking to give expression of self from that cosmic plane, see? and those definite ones are as those that are coming through to the consciousness of the entity, as is seen in ones that do make themselves plain, even in the manner that more than one meets the needs of the entity and of the consciousness of the entity, in giving correlated conditions of experiences of the body mind through which that mind is laboring, see? and as the entity holds self in that understandable manner to those seeking to so express self, the more the entity gains from same. Do not - do NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE AN ISSUE WITH ANY, for in so doing the entity may betray own self to own self's consciousness, or that forcing the issue is as of putting self BEFORE that that would be given the entity, see? Hence before these are given or experienced, the entity gains the consciousness of that higher presence as seen in the light - for the light is the light of the world, even as the Master gave, see?
8. (Q) [...] [[136]'s & [3816]'s father] undoubtedly talked with me later, as we shall see. Was it his presence I felt, or his and others? [GD's note: Mr. [...] had recently taken his own life.]
   (A) (Interrupting) His and others, and many others, see?
9. (Q) The interview in form of voice: "He was a man of sixty odd years - yet he should not have done it. But where has he gone to now - what, has become of him?" Answer: "He is the most uncomfortable fellow in the world." Then I beheld our baby crying and the interview continued: "What does he cry for?" Answer: "Food!"
   (A) Again and again, just as given, the entity finds those conditions as are troublesome to the consciousness reasoned, as it were, and also illustrated for the mind, that there may be the more perfect understanding of that through which the mind in its MATERIAL form is passing, and through that presented may the mind gain the better concept of that being studied by this entity.
10. (Q) I finished the reasoning by simply applying my understanding of this world being but the outlined application of the inner cosmic world - i.e., that as that baby subconsciously cries for sustenance or self preservation, this is a manifestation of the life force's activity and thus upon becoming physical so manifests self. Likewise, then, upon changing back into the cosmic, the desire of self preservation is changed to the cosmic kind of seeking that necessary to preserve self consciousness, which is knowledge gained for self consciousness of what all of consciousness is and is doing. It is seeking to expand the self margin of consciousness to embrace the limitless universal storehouse of knowledge. If this expansion, obtainable in this plane, where self relationship to the whole may be gained, is curtailed by suicide one cuts off the very thing for which the cosmic self changed to become physical, and in the case of suicide will wish it had taken full advantage of physical life to gain this while the opportunity presented. Correct?
    (A) Correct. And, as is seen by the reasoning with the entities as present themselves to the body, the body consciousness of [900] gains the further concept of how this consciousness of self may add to that building of that to be gained by such a one, that even cuts off such conditions, and through same build to that better understanding in self, by adding and giving to such a one the better knowledge of self's application of cosmic laws from the material plane, just as the material may gain understanding from cosmic laws, see? for, even as the body consciousness of this body gains from that of those in the cosmic or universal plane, those earthbound by such cutting off may gain from those in the present plane - for the lessons ARE LEARNED FROM that plane, see? Hence there has been given that the Master preached to those in purgatory, [Luke 23:43?] and that the passing through same was for their understanding, and again there is seen the prayer made even in the law of Moses for one passing into that land in between, and again is prayer made by him who would intercede for the soul passing into the borderland [Luke 23:43; I Peter 4:6], see? [GD's note: Is this referring to the basis for the custom in both the Jewish and Catholic religion to pray for the dead?]
11. (Q) Saturday Morning, April 9, 1927. Voice - I believe of [...]: "I seek rest. I want to leave and be with my family down there." I felt a wandering impression of restlessness.
    (A) Again that understanding given to the entity of the soul seeking solace, counsel, guidance, from an entity that finds self loosened from the bonds of the flesh, seeking that FROM Him who may give, in the supplication, that understanding necessary. Apply it - apply it - apply it! For, as has been given oft to the entity, in the application of those laws and lessons as are being gained by same will the entity come to the full understanding and conception of their worth to mankind.
