This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of July, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

Present: Edgar Cayce; [900], Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. Cayce, Mr. [257] and Mrs. [903], and Mr. L. B. Cayce.

TEXT

1. [900]: Now, you will have before you the body of [900], present in this room. You will have the various phases of this body, and you will answer the questions that he puts to you.
2. EC: We have the body and the various phases as surround this life, and there may be seen that these various phases are many, and many more phases will be presented for the study and consideration of this body physical, this body mental, this body spiritual - for, as has been given, there are many that will depend upon the various interpretations that they, as individuals, will receive through the efforts of the body mental, the body spiritual, and many will call the body blessed. Many will be put asea [at sea] at first. Many will be made to think that have never thought before, for the various phases of the phenomena of life are to be interpreted by this body. Harken, then, ye who would gain a better understanding of the purpose, of the intent, of the life as is experienced in this earth plane - for there has been given unto this body an understanding that is EXCEPTIONAL. See that he, [900], does not overstep the mark. Ready for questions.
3. (Q) Overstepping the mark - what is meant here?
   (A) Be in that attitude, my son, as has been given of old: "Let others do as they may, but for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall." These are as the signposts to the mind, heart, life, of him who takes upon himself that as the leader. Many will find fault. Many will call thee blessed. Be not deceived by either. MANY we find that are overcome by praise and others overcome by faultfinding. Bear the light as has been set in thine hand. Keep thy paths straight, and in Him will come the glory as is set before thine face.
4. (Q) Regarding the dream recently of a merger of stores, and also of three names given to me, and of those three names I understood one to be Transcontinental Oil, at which my interviewer told me, "Yes, Transcontinental Oil."
   (A) As is seen here, this represents one phase of the experience of life. Three represents a definite stand or point. Merger representing the various conditions as are being seen and experienced in the field of merchandising, of purchasing, of distributing. The Transcontinental meaning one of those that will show the merger to be of a definite stand.
   Apply the information as is received to thine self. That is, in the information obtained the entity becomes the gainer by giving out.
5. (Q) Has it any reference to department store stock at the present time held, or rather mail order stock?
   (A) These all represent their various phases. As is seen, the information has been given that in this present year there would be seen many more greater combines, and many that were of small nature would become great. As respecting mail order, and as to chain stores of every nature - as to stock held, as given, this is to be applied by the individual, rather than by information through these sources. Though, as is seen, in this particular instance this has reference to the large mail order house, see?
6. (Q) In regard to the educational work in my connection with the Association, I am now entering upon that phase of the phenomena called Spirit Communication. I have experienced this myself quite frequently of late, in a very natural and pronounced manner. Will you give any special kind of reading that I may ask for in relation to these particular and personal experiences?
   (A) As has been given as respecting spirit communication, these are of the individual nature, and are of rather the individual interpretation, and when such are presented through, of, for, or on any other way or manner, there may be the suspect of there entering in other force than that of individual importance of individual understanding.
   In the matter of spirit communication:
   As is seen, as has been given, there are ever about those in the flesh in the earth's plane those desiring to communicate with those in the earth plane, attracted by the act, intent and purport of the individual, or by the act, intent, purport, of that entity in the spirit plane.
   In these as have been, as are being presented to this body, [900], these are above the ordinary experiences, and are of the definite position, condition, and represent definite phases in the understanding of the entity.
   Study same, then, with that same knowledge as was given of old, that God the Father speaks to Himself through man and man's activities in the earth. The spirit is of the Father, and all force is of God. Study these from this phase. As to information concerning definite or specific instances of communication, these may receive - through these sources - the interpretation, either of the giver, or of those associated in the spirit plane with such entities, see? for various phases of such communication present themselves much as the various phases of the development of entities, and those intents, those purports as were once set forth by Saul of Tarsus, are as near the correct interpretation of spirit communication as may be attained in any literature or writings that may be attained at the present period.
   Prepare that thou art preparing concerning such conditions, and these will equal - or even be better understood than that as was given by him in those passages concerning the gifts of the spirit. Read same.
7. (Q) What part of the Bible?
   (A) Paul - in the Epistle to the Corinthians.
8. (Q) My mother-in-law - [139] by name on earth - appeared to my wife distracted and distressed, seeing her [other] daughter, [3816], as sick unto death.
   (A) The warning again coming to the one to whom there has much been given concerning the understanding of the message as comes from the mother, and the warning that has been oft repeated again concerning the individual. Well, then, that the body be warned again, for correct was that as given, "I will not always bear with a stiff-necked generation."
9. (Q) Then advise us what we can do, if such imminent danger threatens that individual, [3816].
   (A) Just in the brotherly, sisterly manner present again those necessities of individuals being prepared for the various vicissitudes of life while LIVING, and not being in the way of continually putting off same.
