This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of August, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900], of ... St., N.Y. City, and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lesson to be gained from these, as I read them to you, and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, and the dreams. These we have had here before. The dreams, as we see, come through those channels as have been outlined to the entity, and again we find the entity approaches closer and closer to the threshold of the Borderland in consciousness and in understanding. Hence there is seen more and more of the reasoning from within toward the outward appearances of conditions, and the entity should in the quiter moments gain better understanding of the phases of life and of how the application of the lessons and truths gained apply in the lives of others. Not to condemn, not to bring railings on any, but that the love of the Father may be made manifest in the earth - for, as the entity goes in and out among men, and as truth, trust, love, and the kindred phases of life, enter into the secular things of life, THIS - as is seen and experienced by the entity - becomes the more worth while - and while the conditions of the secular things may pass and fade, THESE - love, charity, long suffering, and such kindred conditions - remain, and stand the test of so as by fire.

4. (Q) Of recent date. [257] criticizing me since I had but two years of college, therefor denying any claim I had to knowledge. What degree or diploma had I to show that entitled me to any position based upon academic or scientific knowledge?
   (A) What were the qualifications of John, James, Peter or Andrew, as to those things necessary to give to the world those lessons that have proven the profound lessons of all ages? and, as is seen, while others may be of the temperament, nature, disposition, trend, consciousness, of faultfinding, he that condemns not JUSTIFIES himself before the law - for, as has been given, seek first the Lord and all knowledge, all understanding, is GIVEN unto thee - whether this be of man's reasoning - but this is the law, that all knowledge, all power, is given unto him who gets UNDERSTANDING of the precepts of God's law - for man being God manifested in secular or in carnal being may gain understanding by BEING one with that inner consciousness that brings understanding. See?
5. (Q) As things stand now, just how should we proceed in the matter of [257]? To what extent should he be allowed to take readings for himself on his own personal matters at and whenever he chooses? Others pay $10 for a reading or contribute liberally - or should we just let [257] use the work until he himself feels ashamed? [7/26/27 See 257-20 in re EC work, [900]'s attitude, etc.]
   (A) This is turning and applying conditions to the secular being, rather than considering from the correct standpoint, see? for all things must be as tried, so as by fire, and the wheat being purged the chaff will be taken away with the wind, or the dross burned as in the furnace.
   In the matter of considering individuals' attainment, and individuals' application, NONE should judge another - for with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again, and that thou sowest so shall thou reap, and they harvest shall tell the application of thine talents, see?
6. (Q) In an interview Alexander New was presented to me. I didn't get the connection but was told as follows: "Yes, Alexander New, your mother's old and intimate friend - that who is meant. He cannot help you while in the flesh, but when he comes into the spirit he will help you greatly."
   (A) In this the entity enters into that near the Borderland, gaining that understanding of how an entity, a portion of the whole - in the life spent in the intimacy of individual application of love, of understanding, of charity, of those conditions, elements, that are as silver in the measure - will be meted not only in the present application in material manner, but is meted also in the spiritual truths and lessons that come from that higher vision as is attained through the applying of self in and through these channels.
   As is seen in the individual, the actions of the individual toward that of another individual known to the entity are as the TRUTHS as given, that thoughts are deeds and become crimes or miracles in the application, and whether meted in material plane or measured in the spiritual plane are as ONE, see? for, as has been given, it is not all of LIFE to live, nor all of death to die - for the beginning of life is as of the spiritual DEATH, unless such life is lived in the spiritual understanding - and the death in the physical is the birth in the spiritual, see?
7. (Q) Is this then a prophesy - even as I am studying in Paul to the Corinthians?
   (A) Rather the UNDERSTANDING of those lessons as given by Paul, who is AS the learned from the physical plane, yet even as is spoken of those teachings - many wrest with them to their OWN undoing - meaning that it is not all to be learned in the material sense. Rather be in that manner as learned in the spiritual sense, with that UNDERSTANDING that to do good is to LIVE good, and NOT to APPEAR good. BE good - not just APPEAR good. To LIVE love is to be love. To be one with the Father is to be equal WITH the Father, and as the understanding of the entity is gained in the application of truths gained the consciousness OF truth is apparent - for, as has been given, to love is to LIVE love - not the answer of desire or of amorous affection, but is ALL in one - for love is law, law is love.
   Hence the vision seen, and the application in same is as that: That the entity may gain the better understanding.
8. We are through for the present.
