This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of October, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

Present: Edgar Cayce; Mr. [900], Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. Cayce, Mr. L. B. Cayce, and Thomas House.

TEXT

1. [900]: You will have before you the body [900], present in this room. You will give him that instruction, advice and counsel as is asked by him for his better exploitation of the work he is seeking to do in this world at the present time. First, in a continuation of this morning's advice and counsel. One of the cosmic plane - it seemed the impression was Marcus Loew, though I am not sure - regarding Mack Truck. Then secondly you will advise me further as just what my brother is doing that he should not do, to become aware of in the fainting spells, and not resume them. Thirdly, you will have before you the present time considertion being given to my book by Procter and Schuster. Procter is at the present time at Sea Cliff and no doubt discussing it with Schuster. Advise me regarding this. Then fourthly, we will take under consideration what I have chosen to call the Borderland experiences, which are very interesting and should be enlightening.
2. EC: Yes, we have the body and those associations with same as regarding the contemplated work of this body. Many of we have had before, and through these as are asked for and those conditions as have been considered, there are to come many more connections through which the body may have the opportunity of going into, delving into, understanding the work or phenomena as being exploited or studied by the body.
3. As respecting that as given first we find while this was not given regarding Mack Truck by Loew, Loew rather giving that respecting the conditions as regarding some associations with others, and the attempt of others to call Loew away, as it were, from the presence of that radiated by the body brought about conclusions as respecting other associations by the body, with not only those of the social or economical conditions but of the business and spiritual relations.
4. That regarding Mack Truck was gained rather from the general combination of many in respect to this personal or individual commodity. Rather study these conditions in the light of that as has been seen and given from time to time, for we find there is to come quite a change in the prices quoted on Mack Trucks, but do not be on the wrong side of same, for rather little be gained with understanding than much gained with worry and little understanding.
5. As respecting the conditions as given regarding brother, this relating rather to the social surroundings and the attempt to attend, or to keep in touch with many of these in a worried, or in a haphazard, half hearted manner. Understand then, the worry of conditions is the underlying basis for the return of the fainting, or the subconscious forces of the body superseding the superficial or normal conditions of body. Not that they in THEMSELVES are detrimental, but rather caring - for the moment - for the physical condition of the body, but there are as conditions that are warnings, and the body should so conduct, so act, towards same as that the better elements - mentally, spiritually, and physically - may manifest through the spiritual and physical body, for much may be attained by this body, and much is required of the body by self and others.
6. As to those conditions respecting the reading, discussing, and the advisability of publication of writings - the pen goes forward as a well set omen for the body. While there are those elements that will call for rather severe editing, yet these should be SENT rather as have been given, than too severe an editing. These will be acceptable in their final analyses, and the numbers will reach to the tenth and twelfth thousand edition, until these are re-published through demands of others.
7. The combination of cosmic forces and experiences would be of a different vein, and well would the entity do to call upon those experiences of those in thine own land who may give much concerning these experiences by their own experience in the research of such phenomena, as the body consciousness may gain much from seeking counsel along this line from those who have gained much through their research. As Hyslop, [James H. Hyslop, Ph.D., LL.D], and as Payne [Payne (?) Thomas Paine, author of "Age of Reason"?], and as that in the experiences of Funk [I. P. Funk] (who is present here and may give a word of cheer in the way and manner as desired now for such communications as may become direct from this source).
8. "Many years have passed since in this land of the inter-between have I given word to those who would seek to know that which has been left, even as an experience. Approach my son, who is still in charge of publishing of those works as have been, and in the false bottom in my safe will be found a message for thee. Read it." [I. P. Funk]
9. (Q) Where may I locate your son?
   (A) "In the office of the publishing company bearing the name - Funk & Wagnalls."
10. (Q) Would you give me advice as to the best way to address him. He knows nothing of me, of course.
    (A) "I have been given the information as necessary to approach you concerning the message left by the father, which will be found on the false bottom in the safe."
11. (Q) This message is to me, [900]?
    (A) To anyone seeking to know that connection as may be gained direct, which is as an experience. See, Hyslop - was understood, or was left by self, and by Funk and others - in the study of experiences that go in between - that should there occur the time, the place, the period, when we might give direct information concerning those conditions in which we in the inter-between, or in the cosmic or spirit plane, might communicate direct as to certain things unknown - yet known to others that there were messages left. This, as is seen, that Funk left here, when this is procured, others may be given, see?
12. (Q) Regarding this last that was just given, should I see the same party?
    (A) Same party, for concerning the same message. W. H. F-u-n-k.
13. (Q) W. H. Funk speaking?
    (A) W. H. Funk one to approach, of Funk & Wagnalls Company.
14. (Q) Now regarding these experiences, one of last night on train. Someone told me I would be asked and have to furnish some guarantees as to how many copies we could sell on the manuscript - such that it is considered a work of those in the Borderland as well as my own understanding, how many copies we could guarantee for sale.
    (A) The thousand in the beginning, for this is the first edition. These, as we find, will be placed in the various centers for the use of those studying the operations of such phenomena; that is, to the various centers these will be sent for the study, commentation. Then the orders, as seen, will come for these in great numbers, reaching to the twelve to sixteen thousandth edition, until re-printed.
15. (Q) Now I will have to furnish the names and addresses of those who will buy this book; that is, the first thousand guarantee to Schuster.
    (A) These will be printed, published first, and as they are coming off press will be sent out. By the time the rest are off press these will be furnished.
16. (Q) Schuster, then, who is now considering the work with Procter, at Sea Cliff, Long Island, will be willing to publish it.
    (A) To publish it.
17. (Q) Now another one of last night, regarding my striking an entity, then that regarding Louie Schoolhouse and his father. I was told that his sickness was not that as ordinarily given out, but rather of year and a half standing, without mentioning you have before you that I was given. Then I placed my hand at the base of the brain of the one I struck, and I said, "Be thou sane," and the entity changed, and seemed grateful to me.
    (A) Again we find through the presentation of these conditions a return to that former instruction as given this body respecting the study of anatomy and the anatomical conditions of a physical being. Here with that as given we find the answer - with that understood already by the entity - in as to how that which was told was at the base of that suffered by Schoolhouse was the cause of the PHYSICAL undoing. Also through the same basis we find how that applied in the correction of the coordination between the body in the physical sense that lies between that of the brain that coordinates the brain of the central body, gave to that one seen the soundness of coordination in thankfulness, even in expressing same.
18. (Q) You mean I actually helped one in this physical plane?
    (A) Helped one in the physical plane in this experience through that as obtained in the study and in that knowledge gained of the spiritual and the material body, and the coordinating of same in that given by the expression that awakened in the body that necessity of this coordination for the perfect understanding.
19. (Q) I don't know this entity.
    (A) "Bread cast upon the waters in many days returns." Well is this given in this experience. Many of those words spoken by the entity in out of the way places finds its lodgement, and this is given as an illustration of that as has often been said as concerning the efforts and work of the entity: Many await the coming of the truths as will be given by this body. Be thou faithful. Keep the way. Let there be known there is still the rod of Jesse in Israel, and that the sceptre has not departed from the house of Promise.
20. (Q) Now on recent date I had a very interesting experience in a conversation with a Borderland entity that correlates with what Hibbins is seeking. The entity asked me if I had ever seen an inanimate object taken away from me, passed through - say a solid wall - and returned to me, and this operation conducted by a cosmic entity. I denied having that experience, and I was told to see Marjorie [Marjorie Crandon, spiritualistic medium], whom Walter works through.
    (A) Then see Marjorie.
21. (Q) How may I do that?
    (A) There are many various phases of the operations of those in the Borderland, and many types, many classes, many characters, that seek the expression of that development found in the various entities who may lay aside the physical for the operation of either that in the 4th dimensional nature or that in the purely ultraistic [altruistic?] nature as was manifested by that entity, who in the weeks ago passed into the spirit plane. In the study of such, be thou well balanced in that thou studyest [studiest], for know that those who seek more for the material manifestation seeketh rather for the sign, and as the Master gave, no sign shall be given to a wicked or adulterous generation. In seeking Marjorie, this may be found through that of Prince [Morton Prince, author of books on abnormal psychology], or of Strong [?], both living near where the entity here resides - in the same city. One in same block - but understandest what thou asketh yet?
