This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of January, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

TEXT

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900], of 161 W. 75th St., N.Y. City [see Par. 2 below], and the dreams this body had on the dates which I will give you. You will give the interpretation and lesson to be gained from each of these, as I read them to you, and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding same.
2. EC: (In undertone) Things unusual going on in the building here.
3. Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [900]. This we have had here before. The dreams come in the way and manner as has been given, or in one or the other of the ways and and manners as have been outlined. Ready for dream.
4. (Q) Morning of Dec. 21, 1927. Then one of them spoke to me, saying: "Peace, love and comfort." This seemed an answer to my prayers, in which I bemoaned my lack of ability to apply my understanding to bring better and greater results for the Creator. I have thought to dwell upon the qualifications as composing the elements of happiness and the greater spiritual self consciousness necessary to gain same in my Birmingham lecture. Well to do so?
   (A) This we find rather the reasoning of the subconscious forces of self from that experienced, rather than as a vision or dream. Hence the entity, the body, the body consciousness will study that as has been given and find in same that same experience given in that visualized or experienced by self (the inner self - the real self) through the attainment of the understanding and the application of those conditions, lessons, truths and applications of forces as are manifest through those conditions, forces, manners as given - for we find many conditions needs be qualified by the expression; for we find the same word, the same feeling expressed in different terms by different individuals, according to individual development. Hence we say qualifying what is meant through this channel one may find that one of the greatest factors, then, in knowledge or understanding is in the qualifying of that meant to be expressed; for, as given here in that of reason as respecting the subconscious forces, the reason as given - and as has been given - is not reasoning as is ordinarily understood by the sensuous consciousness reasoning, yet reason or reasoning of the subconscious mind - or portions of that mind - coming nearer to the expression of that meant than it may be qualified under any other expression. This meaning rather, then, to expand upon that meant by reasoning of the subconscious forces. Rather the awareness of self being in the position of being able to correlate and possibly the reasoning by comparison indicates in a sensuous mind, see?
5. (Q) Of recent date. Interviewer: "You can't gain profits buying asphalt at 81 and selling it at 80 3/8."
   (A) This in itself is self-evident of conditions existent; that is, of self rebuke, of self-condemnation, rather than that of another force, power or entity warning. Rather the self seeing, knowing, by intuitive action of that studied or correlated, and the conceptions of the activity, finds the self within rebuking the physical or material self. Not as self-condemnation. Rather as warning.
6. (Q) I take this specifically to me[an] in that there was no necessity to sell this stock at a loss - to the contrary if held it would go up much higher. This was my intuitive feeling even when I sold the stock. Furthermore no reason to take a loss by selling stocks in the present market. All this correct.
   (A) Rather that as given - for changes now occur in present market. At the period correct; yet we find that as necessary to meet the sensuous material time different. Act then upon that being given with a knowledge of that understood by past experiences in all its phases.
7. (Q) More generally I note that what seems to be a group of cosmic entities seem to seek the cosmic purpose in earthly matters thru me, and are thus what we call aggravated when my blunders impeded the carrying out of that purpose. The seeking to help in all phases - in many ways that I cannot hear or see. For example, in thinking of the good business [302] has brought us, I heard it said to me: "I have brought you this." Just what influence in this?
   (A) That of the correct understanding will give the better understanding of spirit communication, or the activity of the forces from cosmic plane activity in the material forces; remembering, then, first there must be proper attunement for the correct understanding of ANY condition presented to a sensuous mind. From the present then, we find that given of "Seek and ye shall find," in its broaden sense is answered in that experienced here. That is, when self desires - and puts desire in action, with self in attunement in the spiritual sense - that same reasoning as spoken of self's subconscious self gives answer from within, and accorded to by cosmic forces in attunement with that desired. Hence the feeling of innate action separated from cosmic forces, or urge, or push. This then gives one the understanding that though there may be many urges from without and within, unless self has lost through inactivity the power of self, then self's action accorded by will is ever the stronger force, whether related to those urges from the physical surroundings and all its elements of urge, or from spiritual surroundings with its urge from developed or from cosmic entities' action on same; for self remains ever the portion of the whole, irrespective of those elements that have to do with either the mental materialness or the spiritual activity actualities of that plane. Hence like begets like, and man - or the BEING itself - is the pilot, director and keeper of self.
