This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of September, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - this we have had before. Now, we find there is an accentuation of those disturbing forces of which the body has been warned, and well indeed would it be for the body to apply that as has been given for the correction of those conditions in the soft tissue of the face, that causes this disturbance when cold or congestion arises, bringing about disturbances throughout the soft tissue of face, head, neck, throat, and the organs of the sensory system - that is, when this condition has been reduced, or without the reduction, well that those probes with that of the Icthyolate [Mono-Ichthammol?] (reduced in strength) be applied to this tissue.
2. Now, as respecting the infections (as is seen in throat, bronchials, lungs, and irritation therefrom), these are rather at present of the reflex nature, or sympathetic, but unless these are taken in time, and the effects as well as the cause attended to, or relief brought, conditions may set up that would be detrimental to the better forces of the physical body.
3. Then we would, with those applications as have been given, use these on face and those swollen portions of same, until reduction comes; or should the infection and cold continue, use that as just given (with the probes).
4. In that for throat, bronchials, we would apply externally a massage made of this: Apply, and there will come relief from same.
5. To 3 ounces of pure hog fat; not a compound nor combination, but the pure hog fat or lard, add:

   Mustard, a third of the whole quantity, see?
or................................1 1/2 ounces,
or................................1 1/4 ounces,

   Spirits of Turpentine...................40 drops,
Spirits of Camphor.....................100 drops.

   Stir these well together and massage over the throat, bronchials, and chest.
6. Keep the bowels open, or the liver acting - the eliminations well in hand.
7. Use mild stimuli of egg cooked in Spirits Fermenti and milk. This the diet or food until the condition is relieved. Do that.
8. The packs would be well to contain small quantities of that which will act as a hypnotic to pain or swelling, as would be found in the properties as have been given [laudanum?]. This would best be diluted and spread over the parts, then the applications applied. Not too hot, but rather as packs, see? Ready for questions.
9. (Q) The laudanum is the hypnotic intended to be used on the face?
   (A) The laudanum. This weakened, to be sure, see?
10. (Q) The Icthyolate should not be used until the swelling has been reduced?
    (A) Provided these will act in the capacity of reducing the swelling. This inflammation and this cleansing MUST be relieved. The inhalent will act as a cleanser also, but will ONLY act as the cleanser, see? offering to the air chambers of the lungs that which will assist in throwing off, provided the eliminations, the liver, and the bowels or the intestines are kept nominally open, see? Well would the body begin with small doses of Castoria. THESE will act. Take half teaspoonful every half hour, see, until at least four doses are taken; then DOUBLE the dose and continue to take until the bowels move thoroughly; then take a mild saline as of oil - that is, the Russian White Oil, with those of the salts, or combination of the salts and of soda.
    Keep away from drafts, and let the body rest until recuperation sets in, but be mindful of the condition existent in the soft tissue of the face; for unless these conditions are removed there will come trouble both to the auditory, to the eyes, to the nose, and to ALL tissue of the body, by CONTINUAL infection to the system. We are through for the present.
