Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Edgar:-
Enclosed please find two checks, one in the amount of
$5000.00 which has been charged to the Association account
on deposit with us, and the other in the amount of $1200.00,
which is out of our own account. The latter check is to
cover the monthly overhead and the former, the necessary
expenditures outlined in your report. I will bring a check
of $2500.00 for the builders with me.
I hope we will soon get all of our debts paid off, such that
the $2000.00 a month will soon begin to leave us a little
surplus and relieve us of scrimping and scraping that we have
had to do over the past few years and which the reading said
we would have to do. However, it seems we are always
furnished the means, though we cannot foresee just where it
is coming from, so we certainly should not complain.
Please don't forget to see Van Patten about snapping up 3 to
5 lots in different places on the land immediately to the
North and South of our present holdings. If he has some
offered ready for us Saturday, he may be able to do some
quick business.
Thank you very much for the assistance given this morning,
and I think I understand same in the light of the fact that
I have been following or have been starting to follow another
in some market operation. Will get out of same as fast as
possible and confine myself as was given in this morning's
report, for from that source has come our past success,
enabling us to do what we have and are doing. It would be
a shame to spoil that now and risk another catastrophe such
as the Hudson Motors affair. That is about what the "bawling
out" meant. There is risk enough when the information comes
from the best source without adding to the risk by accepting
information from sources less staple and reliable, for even
the best source states himself and the risk entailed which,
nevertheless, is worth taking under his guidance, for we
should be able to expect warning from the source in
sufficient time to prevent disaster, which warning would
not or might not be expected to come from other less staple
sources.
With best wishes for our coming meeting and for the future
of the institution, I remain
Very sincerely yours, [
