Dear Miss Davis:
My aunt, Miss [
975], has been failing quite rapidly since
the first of the year. The diagnosis of her attending
physician is that she has a large cancer [See
975-1, Par. 3
on
8/19/35] in her abdomen which is in an advanced stage and
for which nothing can be done; that she cannot live beyond
two or three months; and that the only thing to do is to keep
her as comfortable as possible and give her opiates to ease
the pain. He has been giving her codine (?) tablets but has
recently changed to morphine.
Since the doctor's diagnosis differs from the last reading I
wonder if it would be well to have another check reading at
your early convenience, telling of the diagnosis of the
physician and asking if there is any chance of her living for
a longer period than the two or three months that he
predicts.
I understand that the battery has been hooked up and is now
in use and I believe the alcaroid is being taken.
My aunt is troubled at times with such a dry mouth that it
interferes with her talking. A question might be asked as to
what, if anything, can be done to help that.
Have heard nothing from any of you for some time. Hope that
everything is going along satisfactorily and that you are all
well. Kindest regards to all.
Sincerely yours, [

975-7.
