This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of September, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [995], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [489].

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [995].
2. As we find, there are some conditions that are disturbed in the better physical functioning of the body. These, while they give a great deal of anxiety at times, as we find, may be removed or relieved; and thus bring about a much nearer normal functioning, giving the opportunity of better and greater expression through the physical forces of the body.
3. These, as we find, have to do with a disturbance in the circulatory system produced by hindrances that affect the organs in the assimilation. Thus, having unbalanced the activity of glands in the supply of certain elements to the system, they bring about such disturbing factors.
4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [995] we are speaking of:
5. The BLOOD SUPPLY indicates a subluxation existent in the lower portion of the 4th dorsal-lumbar, thus making for a repression in the supply of the nutriments of the general nervous system to the digestive area and specifically in the pancreas and of the supplying influence for the activity of the duodenum in its relation to the assimilation of foods.
6. At the same time this repression makes for an oversupply of the influences of a circulatory force through the throat and head, and especially to branches of the system that supply the influence from this nervous system to the sensory organisms.
7. Hence we have had at times a peculiar effect upon not only the superficial circulation, as to cause peculiar effect upon the skin, but upon the organs in the sensory system; or the throat, the nasal passages, the ears, the eyes. And these effects at various times produce their various strains in a NERVOUS way to the sympathetic or secondary or vegetative nerve system, as well as to the organs themselves. The drying of the skin at times is the lack of the circulation being thrown through the proper channels and an overflow in others.
8. Thus the effect to the assimilating forces from these conditions is an impoverishment of the blood supply, in those elements that make for the proper coagulations through the organs of the system and especially the activity of the glands as related to the ASSIMILATING forces, or the lacteals, the gall duct. And the activity of these sympathetically to organs of the pelvis is such as to cause the conditions to appear as arising from repressions or suppressions there. Yet these, as we find, are rather of the sympathetic nature than being the causes of the condition.
9. The cause arises, then, in a subluxation existing between the 4th and 5th dorsal segments.
10. The NERVOUS FORCES make for those conditions as we have indicated, of an overtaxed nervous system; and especially to the sympathetics, so that things become at times rather disturbing to the whole nervous forces of the body and EVERYTHING - as it were - appears to "get upon the nerves" of the body. Again, as it were, the body is relaxed to these disturbances, and there is a form of inability to concentrate or coordinate - which appears to arise from a nervous disturbance. Conditions that make for a stimulation to the whole of the nerve reaction and to the brain centers, or those that would bring a stimuli make for only periods that follow of melancholia - by the body being unbalanced in the conditions that have been indicated.
11. As to the functioning of the ORGANS themselves, we find:
12. Many of the disturbances of sympathetic natures arise from the sensory forces, as indicated, while the CAUSES come from the lack of an equalized circulation - and an unbalancing to the glands supplying the proper balance of elements in the system.
13. Throat, bronchials, lungs, larynx, make for those nervous forces as indicated.
14. In the heart's activity there is a quick pulsation and an abnormal condition at times, either up or low or suppression in same.
15. We find in the digestive forces a great deal of the disturbance; as at periods when these make for the burning sensations, tendencies for a disturbance throughout the alimentary canal, periods when the activities of the organs in the pelvic area are SYMPATHETICALLY affected - arising from these same disturbances.
16. Then, in meeting the needs of the conditions of this body, as we find:
17. First there should be sufficient of those corrections osteopathically as to make for an alignment throughout the upper dorsal and the cervical area; to be sure, coordinating the lumbar axis with the rest of the system.
18. Or about eighteen to twenty-one treatments taken, about three times each week. Then these would be rested from, and during the period of rest, every other day or every third day take the diathermy in a very LOW form or nature to make for an equalizing in the nervous energies throughout the whole system. These treatments would last for a period of about two weeks, with the diathermy.
19. Then we would begin with the use of the Radio-Active Appliance that would be attached to the opposite extremities; right wrist, left ankle; left wrist, right ankle, for an hour each day - preferably the body lying prone during that hour of rest and the application of the Appliance.
20. In the diet refrain from those things that are of too great a stimulating nature; not highly seasoned foods nor those that produce too great a quantity of alcoholic reaction in the system; that is, such as sugars and starches at the the same meal. When these ARE taken, they should be taken of themselves and not with others. Hence quantities of pastries or the like are a harmful condition. Rather use those foods that are alkalin-reacting; and refrain from white bread or a great quantity of starches.
21. Do these and, as we find, we will bring the near normal condition for this body, [995].
22. Ready for questions.
23. We are through for the present.

BACKGROUND

1. 9/03/35 She wired verifying appointment Mrs. [489] had made for her.

REPORTS

1. 9/10/35 "The diagnosis is remarkably accurate, and I sincerely appreciate the constructive suggestions made as to tr. It so happens I know and have great faith in Dr. Dobbins. He has been most helpful in correcting a minor (but nonetheless not to be overlooked) eye condition of my daughter, aged 10. On the 22nd of this month I am to be married. On the 28th we sail for Europe, via ... to Japan, remaining in Tokio [Tokyo] for 6 mos. Would you, by any possible chance, have any knowledge as to whether I might find someone there who could give me the tr.?"
2. 9/16/35 EC told her to ask Dr. Dobbins.
