This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Kahn home, 44 W. 77th St., Apt. 14-W, New York City, this 9th day of October, 1935, in accordance with request made by self - Lady [1019], new Associate Member of the Ass'n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [920].

TEXT

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1019].
2. Now, as we find, there are conditions that disturb the physical forces of the body that may be corrected and bring about the much nearer normal relationships of the activity of the physical, mental and spiritual forces of the body.
3. These in their beginnings arise from some conditions which have existed for some time, or some happenings to the body in times back. Now, through the general tendencies, these have become disturbing conditions to the physical organisms.
4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body, [1019] we are speaking of, present in this room:
5. In the BLOOD SUPPLY we find there are disturbances produced not only by the lack of the proper purification of same, through the activity of the organs in the physical forces of the body, through the hepatic circulation, but by the activities of the oxidization of same.
6. Hence we have a disturbance there that has gradually grown to produce a toxic force, as well as adding to the activity of portions of the system; that has caused this to become, as it were, more acute - or has prevented the system from supplying those necessary influences to the activity of the organs of the body to throw off distress or disease, and to become more susceptible to the general reactions.
7. This has caused a lack, then, of the proper superficial or lymph and emunctory circulation. Hence the extremities of the body at times become as if separated - or feel heavy and leaden. There is a general condition over the body as of a pulsation deep within, inside, and not as if akin to the exterior forces. The arms and the limbs become sometimes affected by a little tingle, or a deadening.
8. These are effects, to be sure, from a disturbed circulation, and the inability for it to supply the proper nutriment to all portions of the body.
9. As to the NERVE FORCES of the body, we find there are those specific centers where there is incoordination between the superficial or the vegetative nerve system and the cerebrospinal system.
10. This arises from a subluxation that exists in the lumbar area, and causes the lack of impulse through the torso or the portions of the system through which there is the radial activity of impulse from nerve and blood supply to portions of the system - as we have just indicated.
11. These effects are superseded at times, as it were, by the activity of the impulse to carry on. And the body mentally has ofttimes made for the carrying on irrespective of how it has felt; that is, it has felt much worse than was indicated by the activity to others.
12. This, naturally, is a strain upon the nerve forces of the body.
13. In the functioning of the ORGANS themselves, we find:
14. Brain forces and impulses and activities are near to normal in their response under the ordinary or normal conditions. As there has been a strain, it has made for those impulses at times when the body has felt or does feel as if it MUST give up.
15. In the activities to the sensory forces, from a disturbed circulation, we have the normal reactions; but no organic disturbance in the sensory organs, as we find.
16. The throat, bronchi and lungs and larynx - here we find much of the same character of reaction showing; that is, organically not disturbed - just functionally at times.
17. Heart's activity, as indicated from the disturbances in the circulatory forces.
18. Digestive forces - at times we find there is a nervous indigestion, lack of the proper activity through the gall ducts more specific. This sets up those conditions that make for disturbances through the activity of the pancreas and spleen by the acidity that arises - not so much from the diet but rather from the toxic forces and their activity upon the system. Hence those conditions through the area which has had disturbances before, making for an activity there that is straining upon the system. This is caused in part by the disturbances builded, as indicated, by gradual reaction from lack of proper impulse and nerve forces and blood supply, as well as from an engorgement that exists in the colon itself; as may be indicated by the natural activity which has been the indication through the eliminations in the alimentary canal, disturbances to the organs of the pelvis through those activities of a sympathetic nature as well as reflexes from these disturbances bring about or make for that which has been and is the disturbing factor in the body at present.
19. In meeting the conditions, then, as we find:

We would add to the system the internal forces that may make for an equalizing or a balancing of the activities of the organs themselves; relieving the distress or strain that exists in the specific areas as indicated in the lumbars; adding to the vibrations for the whole system. Thus we will bring about a change. And the activities mentally and the greater opportunities in the mental and spiritual forces may be made manifest in this body.
21. First, then, we would begin with some adjustments AND manipulative forces, osteopathically, specifically in the lumbar area. These would naturally be coordinated with the solar plexus, the brachial area, the hypogastric and pneumogastric and vagus centers, that the whole of the circulatory forces may be SET, as it were, in motion for a unified activity, setting up the drainages for the whole of the system itself.
22. And these treatments we would add to by combining a compound in this way and manner for the system:
23. To 2 ounces of Strained Honey add 4 ounces of Distilled Water. Allow to come to a boil. This would be as a carrier. Then to this add:

    Essence of Wild Ginseng............1/2 ounce,
Essence of Wild Ginger.............1/4 ounce,
Tincture of Stillingia.............1/4 ounce,
Essence of Indian Turnip............10 minims,
Tolu (cut in 1 oz. of alcohol).......3 drams.

    Shake the solution before taking. The dose would be half a teaspoonful before each meal and before retiring.
24. The diets, as we find, would be well to be made body, blood and nerve building; but let ONE meal each day - whether morning, noon or evening - be only the fruits or raw vegetables - or a combination of these at times. These would act with the activities of the osteopathic corrections, as well as with the medicinal properties internally, for the activity upon the gastric flow and for the coordinating of the activity of the glands, in secretion, in elimination.
25. To aid in this stimulation, for the circulatory forces, we would take the vibrations from the regular Radio-Active Appliance each day, preferably just before the period for rest or sleep, for thirty minutes to an hour. If the body goes off to sleep with it attached (as it will), don't disturb self until awaking - and then just remove and continue to rest. This will make for a great deal of relief in these directions also, from the broken rest which has been occurring - from the premonitions at times that surround the body in its attempt to rest nominally.
26. The Appliance would be attached to the extremities of the body, opposite poles; left wrist, right ankle; right wrist, left ankle.
27. Do these, and we will find we will bring the NORMAL forces for this body.
28. Ready for questions.
29. (Q) How often and how many osteopathic adjustments?
    (A) These had preferably be taken in periods or relays. We would take two each week for two to three weeks. Then rest from same a week or two weeks, and then take another period of the treatments when these would be taken once or twice each week.
30. (Q) What causes the tingling in the left side?
    (A) Pressure from subluxation in the dorsal area, which has been indicated. This tends to make, with the improper circulation, the tissue adhere. It causes not only the tingling, but when the body reaches or stretches that side appears to pull.
31. (Q) What causes the pain in front of forehead?
    (A) Reflex condition from disturbance in the assimilating forces of the body, in the gall duct area and the engorgement in the colon - in the ascending or beginning of the transverse colon.
32. (Q) What is the cause of pain in lumbar region?
    (A) The subluxation, as indicated.
33. (Q) Will the eyesight and hearing improve with these treatments?
    (A) As has been indicated, these are reflex conditions from impoverishments to centers along the cerebrospinal system from which the organs of the system receive their impulse; that is, the eyes, the ears, the sense of taste, the sense of smell - all of these find impairment at times, but these are reflexes and NOT organic conditions. Hence they will be materially aided not only by the correcting in the circulation, but by the great aid that will come from the use of the low electrical forces from the Radio-Active Appliance - that will create a balance in the circulation to the extremities.
34. (Q) What can be done to strengthen the fingernails?
    (A) The diet, as indicated from the fruits and the vegetables - these RAW. This will add to the activity of the glands, as well as will the properties that have been indicated to be taken - as these manifest in their combinations in a system of this nature. We find that these properties will react like this:
    The Honey as a carrier is a normal reaction to the gastric juices of the stomach, the intestines throughout.
    Stimulation from the Wild Ginseng is to the gastric flow but acts primarily upon the glands of the gastric flow for an activity to the thyroid, to the ducts and glands within the liver area itself as stimulated by the Indian Turnip, also the Ginger, that will work directly with the gastric flow in the liver's activity, as well as the Stillingia, which in this combination makes for an activity to the kidneys for purifying or cleansing same, thus building or purifying the blood supply and adding to the gastric flow.
    These, in combination with the QUANTITY of the alcohol as a preservative, with the activity of the Balsam of Tolu in same, will make for activities of a general stimulation.
    And the circulation will be equalized by removing the pressures in subluxated areas (through the osteopathic treatments), as in the lumbar and those that tend to make for pressures upon the lower locomotories, as well as to the upper - which come in conjunction with the lower portion of the supply of the nutriment from the nerve forces to the sensory organs of the head itself.
    These will, with purified conditions, build nominally.
    ALL healing is of the spiritual, or within self. The influences are the same as in all nature. A portion of the elements we find lacking in the body; thus there is the inability to resuscitate or to reproduce the resuscitation and the life forces.
    So with these elements as we have suggested to be added, together with the osteopathic treatments and the low electrical vibrations as indicated, within six to eight weeks the body will feel freer - Yes, and some of those deeper disturbances, or mental disturbances, will have disappeared also.
    Do these, then, - and then use the opportunities for constructive force in its relationships with the individual; and Life will be more worth while.

   Dear Mr. Cayce,
   I am very anxious to get another bottle of the medicine which you prescribed for me in October last. It seemed to do me a great deal of good, but, unfortunately, I find I am unable to obtain the following two ingredients:
   Essence of Indian Turnip " " Wild Ginseng
   My husband is going to America this week and will be staying for a short time at the Waldorf-Astoria. I should be very grateful if, on receipt of this letter, you would have the compound made up and sent immediately to him at that address. I will arrange for it to be paid at the desk on its arrival.
   Should there be any difficulty in getting the compound made up in time, perhaps you would forward in an envelope to my husband, the two ingredients above mentioned.
   I am enclosing a copy of the prescription, and envelope with my husband's address.
   I have spoken of your powers to a friend of mine, who, I believe, is going to try to get in touch with you when she is in America.

2. 1/15/36 GD ordered the compound sent to her husband in NYC from the Snyder Pharmacy, Church St., Norfolk, Va. Milton Snyder had been the pharmacist at Benstock Drug Co., Va. Beach, during the Cayce Hospital days.
3. 2/21/36 Mrs. [920]'s husband [877]'s ltr.: "Viscountess [1019] of London rec'd more help from 1 rdg. than she did from all of the great specialists in England, France and other great continental centers, and one only has to see her and talk with her to know her gratitude for what the Ass'n did for her."
4. 4/02/36 Lady [1019]'s brother's wife, Mrs. [1144], requested Physical Reading, saying: "I was advised to consult you by my sister-in-law, Lady [1019], whom you helped so much last year." Mrs. [1144] also obtained a Life Reading.
