2/06/36 Miss [
813]'s letter to EC:
My dear Mr. Cayce,
For a couple of weeks I have been trying to find time in
which to write you a letter but without much success. This
morning I am writing anyway and the official correspondence
is lying unheeded on my desk for awhile. Monday Mrs. [
678]
told me you are ill and needless to say I am distressed to
hear of your disability. I do hope that by the time this
letter reaches you, you have regained abundant health. I am
afraid you have been working too hard.
Before I continue I want you to know how much my niece [
1043]
and I appreciate the Life Reading you gave her. We cannot
estimate how greatly it may bless her in time to come. It
was a most interesting reading and was given at a time when
she needed it very much. You may remember that her birth
date is the same as your own. She is a sweet and lovely
child, loved by all who know her.
Her reading states that she has a rather exceptional
temperament and warns others not to interfere or make
objections in such a nature that would become as a stumbling
block to the experience of "the entity." Venus is her ruler
and gentleness, kindness have a peculiar effect upon her.
That upon which she can or does lavish her affections becomes
almost a portion of her experience, or a part of self. And
then a warning is given to her to beware of those that would
say or do things to prey or play upon the affections or love
of the "entity."
Considerable advice was given to her on this subject ad I
feel that it may be of inestimable help to her in the future.
She evidently is having considerable difficulty in "finding
herself" and she was shown the way to do this. Advised to
read and study the 42nd Psalm, the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th
Chapters of St. John, the 12th Chapter of Romans, and the
13th Chapter of I Corinthians. "For in them may this entity
find those answers to much that disturbs the entity oft when
it muses alone."
Then she was told that in the last incarnation she lost her
life in a raid in the snow in the Winter through perils
brought on to the entity's people in that land (New York
state), while still young in years. The date was December
12, 1736.
The reading goes on to state that she has a peculiar feeling
that arises "in the entity" through the crunching of ice, the
walking in snow; and things that pertain to same arises as
shudders at times. Yet there is a loosening of emotion in
the entity in snow, sleet and hail.
Then she was told what studies to pursue and what vocation to
follow. And she was told in conclusion to "build grace,
beauty, peace, harmony, in the relationships to all. See
that which is of the Creative Forces that it may bring these
beauties in thine experience."
I have burdened you with this brief synopsis that you may
know how really wonderful the reading was. It far surpassed
my expectations.
After she received the reading I was a little doubtful as to
whether she would understand and apply the advice. Then I
had a letter from her and I rejoiced to learn how well she
understood. I wish that I had her letter before me that I
might quote a bit of it. It would make you happy to know how
greatly you have benefitted one who so evidently needed
guidance at this time.
In substance she said that she had read the "reading" over
and over so many times that she knew most of it "by heart."
She said she DOES have that peculiar feeling when walking in
snow, that she has a feeling that it would be better if she
got off of it, but she is not exactly afraid. She seems to
remember her past incarnation. She said it seems to "ring a
bell in her mind," when she reads about the last life here,
especially the name - Louellen (Llewellyn?) Allen. She said
she could almost have told us that was her name.
As to the vocation recommended, she said it is exactly
right. Just what she wants to do but she never thought of
it! And then she said this, which will make you too rejoice:
"Help me to interpret the reading that I may be better NOW!"
I am sorry that I haven't seen her since she received the
reading. It is hard to write about the Bible teachings in a
letter. One can talk about Scripture so much better than we
can write about it. I am sure that the reading will be of
lasting benefit to her. She was warned as to what to avoid,
guided as to her studies and how to find herself, told of the
vocation to follow, and even told to marry one born in the
latter portion of November or December for deep and lasting
love. I think it is a very wonderful reading. But how
completely different from my own!
Miss [
813] wrote that her brother, [
1047], ([
1043]'s father)
had been unable to follow his Physical Rdg. due to the fact
that they had recently discovered that his wife ([
1043]'s
mother) had cancer and he was too distraught to think of
himself.
10/29/37 Miss [
813]'s letter: "My niece [
1043]'s mother died
in Aug. [
1043] is now attending ... Normal School and plans
to become a kindergarten teacher..."
6/14/39 Miss [
813]'s letter: [
1043] went home soon after we
were in Virginia Beach. She got homesick...in fact, she was
homesick before she started for Washington! she hasn't done
anything all Winter but stay at home and look after the
household. Her father says she can't make up her mind as to
a profession. But the real reason is, I found last Fall,
that she thinks she's in love with a young man in ... This
young man is a foreigner...that is, his parents are
Slavonians, and they belong to a lower class of society. The
boy is rather silly, has no particular profession, and is
altogether unsuitable for [
1043]. I don't know what can be
done about the situation. She doesn't want to go away from
home, largely on the boy's account, and there is little she
can do in the small town in which she lives. Due to her
emotional nature, I am afraid she is in for a bad time. I
can't bear to think of her marrying this young man as I don't
see how she could be happy with him. But she never talks and
it is very difficult to know what she is thinking. It was
through his constant letter writing while she was in
Washington that I got some understanding of the situation.
11/06/39 Miss [
813]'s letter: "My niece [
1043] is now
attending a private business college in...and doing
exceptionally well in her studies. I hope that she will find
a place eventually in welfare work of some kind. She has the
highest IQ of any of the students and seems to be leading in
her studies. I am so glad about it because she has had a
difficult time for several years... She wrote me recently
that she has taken issue with her psychology teacher and
seems to have had something of a debate in class her. I
gather from her letter that the purely materialistic
teachings of this instructress is too much for [
1043]."
