12/31/35 "Thank you for your letter of Dec. 19th which has
been forwarded by my good friend, [
954] [EC had enquired
about how she reacted to her Life Reading]; and I appreciate
the reading greatly. I confirm all statements concerning the
afflictions which have been visited upon me in this sojourn.
Your message [1058-1, Par. 13] 'But let each soul know...'
has been a source of great inspiration. I have been under
a great nervous strain due to a very inharmonious home
condition and could feel my strength sinking steadily. My
job, consequently, was on the verge of crumbling, too, for I
did not feel strong enough to carry on and I had rec'd a
warning from my employer.
"Relaxing at home was next to impossible. Sleep at night was
practically out of the question. Each night brought on
another frightful dream and was to be dreaded. It may be of
interest to know that in one dream I was again on a little
white hospital cot - another operation loomed large - surgeon
in consultation - my fate in the balance - everything seemed
realistic. Suddenly, I rebelled and uttered a few emphatic
'No's', then quite vividly appeared your message - 'But let
each soul know, there is no influence above that of the will
of the individual when made one with the Creative Force' etc.
At this point I awoke, the dream was gone.
"I have determined never again to experience another
affliction. To build my physical strength and nervous
system, the answer to 1058-1, Par. 58-Q [See Par. 58-A] was
not entirely clear. I could not define the words, 'Build
where thou art.'
"How could anyone build amid this chaos which I could not
change? I have been striving to this end almost all my life.
How could I continue to hold what I had in hand (1058-1, Par.
59-A) when I did not have the physical strength to do so? My
ambition was slowly ebbing. I had no place in which to
think. It seemed the only alternative was to build in a more
harmonious atmosphere, to become fit so that I could hold my
job and ward off a breakdown. This I have achieved by making
a change in residence.
"The dominating fear was the effect upon my mother, who to my
bewilderment urged me to get out as quickly as I could and to
build my strength before it was too late. That settled
things! For Mother was always horrified at the very idea! I
am living quietly and again making plans for the future. My
office life seems more harmonious; all in all I am a happier
person.
"I cannot locate the stone 'Lapis Linguis' which I am anxious
to possess. Two distraught librarians have informed me that
no such stone exists, that there is an expression 'Lapsis
Linguis' which means a slip of the tongue (Latin). Somebody
said it must be 'Lapis Lazuli' which was used in the Persian
and other ancient periods. The vice-president of the leading
- a leading jewelry concern has sought this stone for me and
a mining student was put to work doing research but could
reveal nothing. Can you give me an inkling as to where such
a stone may be purchased?
"Also may I ask that you please explain in greater detail the
answers to 1058-1, Par. 58-A and 59-A?
"The Crusade experience is certainly of great interest.
I have always possessed a great aptitude for the French
language which was not included in my school curriculum.
I have sought out French groups, visited movies, ate of
French delicacies at a very early age and pride myself on
the pronunciation which seems so naturally mine.
"As fate would have it, I accidentally stumbled upon a group
who were interested in a religion which originated in Persia,
the 'Bahai' faith - this experience at the age of nineteen, I
believe, occurred under the most extraordinary circumstances.
I spent a great deal of time with this group.
"All these things have taken on a new significance for me
since my reading."
1/10/36 Letter from EC to Miss [
1058]: "Pardon for being so
long in answering your most welcome letter, it was very fine
of you to write me as you did and hope I can in some way say
something that will be worthwhile to you at this time.
"Am sure you have chosen the right path and when ever the
environment becomes a hindrance than it is time that the will
in the light of prayer and expedience be put in play, but He
could do no great works in His own HOME, are we stronger than
HE? The dream of the operation was fine and that the little
message that came in the rdg. appeared shows how very close
it has come to you and how very much worthwhile it may be in
your experience. That your Mother came to your aid as it
were in making your decision is fine and am sure it helps you
a very great deal, as is indicated also in your work at the
office, may the Lord bless you and keep you, and so long as
you put your whole trust in Him am sure you need never fear.
Hard for us to conceive of the Universal Mind at times or of
its interest in us as individuals, but when we realize we are
as a corpuscle of that mind a part of same endowed with
infinite power in HIM we realize how necessary it is to keep
that within us in a constructive way of action, and when the
surroundings forbid, necessary for the change.
"The stone 'Lapis Linguis' should be lapis Lazulis, it is a
blue green stone, found in copper mines and the like, you
will find a large stone of that kind at the Museum of Nat.
History, have seen it tho not in last year or so and
understand it has been put under glass. You can get such a
stone but has to be set between glass, or usually does, it
has the most amazing effect on me personally and am sure if
you are able to locate one you will find it most interesting.
I hear noises when I have it near me at most all times.
"As to questions 1058-1, Par. 58-Q and 59-Q, in the first as
I would understand to build in mental rather than physical
associations, why for mind is the builder and of course then
it would be in the mental real of experience in which you are
now working, and in the change. Use the present surroundings
of work to build to the things and experience that are ahead
of you from your own present development apparent in the
making for better things. Now is the explanation a dodging
of the issue or worse than the first comment? If you don't
get it will try and go over it with [you] when I see you
probably next month. Think we will be in N.Y. then.
"Hugh Lynn will be glad to talk with you on the Crusade
period he has made a special study on that as he tried to use
that as a basis of disproving the information and instead
convinced himself of its truth.
"Please don't ever think you will weary me by writing or
going into any point at great detail, for I am most sincerely
interested in each and every one I try and help and each of
their problems are my problems also, hope you will write me
again real soon. And hope you are finding greater joy in
your work and that greater peace, greater hope is yours day
by day, it is all here will we but take hold on it while we
may; and don't let the material things interfere.
"We had a very quiet but very pleasant Christmas. Quite a
lot of very bad weather for this part of the country, but is
pretty again now and the sun is shining, and life is good for
it is the real expression of GOD in the earth.
"All send love and best wishes. Ever the same."
