6/25/36 Her friend Miss [
954]'s letter to EC [After reporting
on her own problems, etc.]:
Now to more inspirational things... The late experience with
my little "protegee" [...] was filled with blessings, thanks
to you and your teachings. That illness was an added shock
to me...at this time. I'm that ultra sympathetic type you
know. ...If [
1058] has an earache, I have one too! Laugh at
me, will you? But it's true. I have watched her through
three operations on that dear neck and face of hers. The
face puffs out... O I'd say perhaps four inches on the bad
side. This time it had not gotten to such an acute stage
when she called me. I went up late at night...the jaw very
tight...but still working. She ASKED me to send the wire to
you: I did not coax her to incur any expense, for I felt she
must decide. But she said: "I want that reading even if
this spell DOES pass over... When will there be another Mr.
Cayce to read this thing?" So bravely she went at it...no
doctor (we are so tired of the slashing)...just us...and
within a day or two we found we had Somebody else with us
too...
I came home long after midnight and did something I have
seldom done since I was an adolescent. I got on my knees and
prayed. I asked that she be relieved of this...that it be a
warning to her only. I asked if I might share it (although
that is so silly). I was so heartstricken with the child's
need...the hard working child who has had little except
sorrow and burdens in all her small lifetime. I got up
comforted and lay down to sleep. And in the morning,
[
1058]'s jaw had loosened a little...and she had less pain.
Then came your offer of the reading time. And we sat
together in silence through the reading...her roommate with
us. It was a lovely quiet time. I could not have dreamed of
such a time with anyone on earth a year ago. I shall write
of my version of the reading results on another sheet of
paper so that it may be filed with [
1058]'s reading without
Gladys having to do more typing.
I tell you all this because I know you will understand it and
will appreciate hearing it. In a way, you see, you have
taught me a little of how to heal, too. For healing is truly
not physical entirely. I see it more and more. I was able
to leave in the child's room a belief that this awful thing
would pass from her...simply out of holding tight to what
little faith I have found. We have to work at this thing,
don't we? It is no mere matter of seeing a Light and being
set for all time...
6/25/36 Report from her friend [
954]:
This reading [1058-2] appears to me to be one of the most
helpful I have yet experienced. [
1058]'s glandular case is
only one of many of the same type. She has been in the
clinics of almost every hospital in town. The last time that
operative procedure was given (nine in all), was at Medical
Center where doctors with the best intentions in the world
did as ugly a job of slashing as I ever saw. Surgeons are
always sure they can open this thing from the INSIDE after
its acute stage is reached. But they never are successful.
The smartest man who operated was a Dr. Fulk head of the
glandular department at Flower Hospital. He knew the
immediate spot from which drainage could be established
without too much cutting.
HOWEVER...not a single program of care of any kind was ever
given this child in all her experience with the clinics. It
was just wait until the swelling reached an acute stage...
then slash. Good-bye, my dear girl, until next time. Oh
yes, they knew there was going to be a next time, all right.
My own guess was that [
1058] had a tubercular gland or a
whole set of them for at one period in her childhood she was
in a preventorium. I also knew she was very poorly fed
during her entire childhood and adolescence and blamed the
illness partly on that.
This Cayce reading proves I was wrong. How clearly this
reading shows that the glandular deficiency is prenatal. And
since I know her Mother and notice peculiar lack of physical
and mental coordination in her actions, this is SO
understandable. Here we have a program of treatment which
will evidently, according to my understanding, first cleanse
the blood stream and then apparently rebuild it through the
chloride of gold and other agencies. The breakdown in the
blood is so important...one can even see that a normal
condition does not obtain from the girl's appearance,
extremely white ears and glasslike pallor.
This analysis also tends to explain the terrible periods of
complete exhaustion which she suffers despite the fact that
her job is not much more hard than many other working girls
have.
It is my great wish at this time that a specialist might
watch progress on this case because of the remarkable
indications of preventive possibilities for others with
similar afflictions. And anybody who has ever seen slash
after slash taken in the side or a neck or face knows how
great such an affliction is.
7/17/36 Miss [
1058]'s letter: "I know you will be pleased to
learn that the patient is coming along quite famously -
thanks to you! and that now I am all set for further
instructions, since the inflammation has disappeared! I
would appreciate having further information just as soon as
you can possibly arrange to give it to me...there are several
questions I should like to ask... I have been told
previously that my blood pressure is below normal. Do you
still find that this condition prevails? If so, how can it
be remedied? I haven't seen a single doctor since the
beginning of this last siege, and nothing can shake my faith
in you and your good work."
