12/23/35 Dr. John R. Thompson's letter: "Was delited
[delighted?] to receive your letter this morning, and was
especially glad to hear that you had a nice trip home - you
most certainly deserved it, after your Detroit troubles.
But, as you say, the less said about it all the better.
Things like that occur to us all at some time or other, and
we all prefer to forget them as soon as possible. I hope
that it gets all cleared up soon, and then can be forgotten.
As far as it concerned me, the storm seems to have passed on
by - I have my wife's reading at home, even, which means I'm
convinced all is quiet now. However, I will add this as a
finale - I think the [
601]'s should dilute their enthusiasm
with a little caution, as, for instance, Mr. and Mrs. [
1100]
do. I think all are 100% positive in their own minds - but
convincing a dubious public sometimes calls for a lot of tact
- even our fairly well accepted Osteopathic profession still
finds that out. Oh well, guess it shouldn't be worried over.
"News as to the patients is all pretty good, as far as I
know. Mr. [
1060] seems to be practically well. He is,
however, faithfully carrying out the "post-operative"
suggestions of the reading verbatim, which I think is a good
idea considering the severity of his condition originally."

1/20/39 Mrs. [
1100]'s letter: "Dr. Thompson got ill and his
father is quite ill, so he decided to go home. He has never
told us but his office girl says that he has kidney stones
and this is his second attack. Why he doesn't use the hot
castor oil packs, no one but himself knows, because he
certainly saw with his own eyes what they did for [
1060]."
10/16/52 Comment by D. H. Fogel, M.D. (heart specialist):
[
1060]
1. KIDNEY STONES
2. PYLORUS INFLAMMATION
NOT APPENDICITIS
GD's note: Son [
1066] told us that [
1060] never did have any
more trouble of the same nature.
4/10/56 Son [
1066]'s letter: "Dad and Mother [
1065] retired
to ..., Mass. five years ago. Dad has had 3 strokes and is
not too well. He is 74."
