2/11/57 He visited A.R.E. and reported verbally as follows
on his Life Rdg. 1066-1, Par. 2--4: "In re 'determination',
nothing can deter me when I really get started on something.
In re 'wars' I was in World War II and then later in the
Korean War, and I liked it. I like the Army - I had to get
out this time because of my age. I started out as a Lt. and
ended up as a Major."
Par. 6: I have had many, many choices of activity and have
jumped all over the place, doing first one thing and another.
Everything has to be the extreme - I can't just buy the
average article. I was Manager of The AAA Traffic Club - had
about 60,000 members - out of D.C. from '48 to '50."
Par. 18: "Boy, do I like to travel! and that business of
'where I hang my hat is home' [Par. 23] - boy, that's me. I
like to make new associations, new ideas, to try new
experiences. The entire paragraph [Par. 18] is me, every
word all the way through, and especially in finding a more
perfect way."
Par. 20: "This entire is right on the button - that's me.
I will talk to anyone - never bothers me. Yes, confusion in
friendships, I run into that once in a while."
Par. 20: "Nothing is particularly different from what I had
expected - that is so true - that's me."
Par. 49-A: "As a result of this advice I went to D.C. and
started to work with the Resettlement Association - this
work was performed in the country rather than the city; it
covered the whole U. S. When there was the migration from
Okla. to Calif. I was tied up with this - from 1936 to 1940."
Par. 51-A: "I married 12 yrs. following the date of this
reading and stayed married one and one-half years. She
was of the fair type. You won't believe this but one day I
was walking down the hall and I saw this girl, and I said to
the fellow walking with me, 'I'm going to marry that girl.'
He said, 'Do you know her?' and I said 'No.' I found out
where she worked, dated her for some 6 months, and we were
married. Not long thereafter she wanted to buy a home. I
didn't. But we had to leave the apartment and get a home -
wall to wall carpets, mirror over the mantle, etc., etc.,
so that I had to give up my boat, and besides I lost $3,000
on the deal. You know, I grew to dislike this girl (she was
from Ga.). Why wasn't the apartment alright? Anyhow,
gradually I knew I was going to get out of this, and I did.
The marriage lasted just about one and a half years. Talk
about fifty-fifty - Lord, it was ninety-ten!"
Par. 54-A [ques. left out of original copy of rdg.]: "I had
been adopted by [
1060] when very small and loved him as my
father all my life, still I wanted to know something about my
real father. I guess it was something I wasn't supposed to
know. [GD's note: This was an example of EC's discretion in
the readings. Evidently this was some dark secret in the
mother's past, which she wouldn't reveal to her son, so
naturally the reading wasn't going to divulge it.]
11/25/35 A.M. See mother's Physical Rdg.,
1065-1 indicating
physical and "psychological" effects from son [
1066]'s birth
25 yrs. ago. [See subsequent notes in re his Ck. Life under
1066-2, Reports.]
3/22/57 He wrote of his father, [
1060], whom he was trying
to help by following suggestions in readings of similar
heart conditions: "I'm hard at work now in a Bank Clearing
House. Have 12 girls working for me which I enjoy no end."
4/09/57 "This Service where I'm working is an 'information
center' for banks. It's nice work, altho' working with 12
girls has its problems to say nothing of theirs."
6/04/57 "I am getting too busy to go after that treasure in
Fla. [
1279-5] but I think of it once in a while and wonder
about all the treasure at Virginia Beach."
